Witchy ways to keep motivation in trying times ☀️🌿

In light of recent worldly events, I figured I would whip up a little pick-me-up post for those in need of a little motivation, including myself.

• light an orange candle every morning to motivate you and invoke your energy

• open up your blinds/curtains right when you wake to let in plenty of sunlight, go ahead and crack your window open too for some fresh air

• try out this tea potion or a variation of it with whatever you’ve got on hand at the moment

• sit out in the sun for a few moments every day (with sunscreen on, please!)

• cleanse your space as often as you can, there’s lots of stale energy building up from being home all day

• keep your energizing crystals close to you, or consider charging that tea potion with them as well (great examples would be stones like carnelian, sunstone, amber, tigers eye, citrine, clear quartz, pyrite, whatever you’ve got!)

• don’t forget to ground yourself, everyone is especially stressed right now and that can make it really easy to slip into scary head spaces, reel yourself in with some mediation, tea/bath potions, crystals, whatever works best for you.

• try to scribble or type out a little bit of witchy studies every day, not only does it help improve your craft but it helps you feel productive!

• keep a bottle of sun water on your nightstand or close to wherever you’re spending the majority of your time these days

• add some rosemary to any of your savory dishes for a boost to your energy and mental clarity, or if you have fresh rosemary lying around tie a few sprigs somewhere around your bed or make a little sachet, you know the drill here

• do your best to keep your sleeping schedule somewhere between 7-9 hours, under sleeping has obvious side effects but over sleeping can be detrimental to mental health as well, use lavender or chamomile to help keep you sleeping through the night, or grab hold of some cinnamon to encourage you to get up at a reasonable time, stuff your reagent(s) of choice into a little sachet and stuff it under your pillow

• remember to breathe. there’s so much uncertainty in the world right now, I know this is easier said than done but try your best to do what you can to take your mind off it and not let worry eat at you. this will come to an end and you will make it through. 💛

ok so what if you worked in an old office building that had cool gargoyles on the outside. that’s sick, right? you don’t get why no one else thinks the gargoyles are awesome. you didn’t even watch that old 90′s gargoyle cartoon because you were too little when it was airing, but you’re vaguely familiar with the plot. you always did like the thought of statues and pictures and paintings having secret lives where no one could see. 

in the summer, when it turns out the windows open, you leave a cup of coffee out on the ledge for the gargoyle that’s nearest the breakroom. it’s funny. it’s just a cute joke. your coworkers laugh, but not really at you. it’s harmlessly silly, and frankly working in an office kind of sucks. no one minds something extra to smile about. 

the next day you go to get the mug back. the coffee’s gone, but the cup’s half full of rainwater and cigarette butts. haha, cute joke, someone else must be in on it. you wash the cup and put it back out fresh for the gargoyle. everyone’s calling him greg now. everyone smiles over greg’s morning coffee. greg needs his fix! greg is a valued employee. keep up the good work, greg. you set a mug of coffee out for greg every morning, now. 

the stuff in the coffee mug that’s left behind keeps changing, though. it’s different every morning: always rainwater, but also cigarette butts, coffee grounds, a handful of gravel, some bottlecaps, gross old pennies. receipt papers, pigeon feathers, half a shoe.

then one morning it’s a whole, wrapped snickers bar. still in half a cup of dirty rainwater, but the plastic’s fine, the candy inside should be good. 

‘huh. thanks, greg,’ you say, and after you get greg his coffee, you open the candy bar and have it right there, sitting on the windowsill. 

‘so that’s what you guys eat,’ the gargoyle says, satisfied.

I want to bring bane on one of my neighbors. Both of them are smug son of a bitches, the most vile kind. What is the best way to cause them harm?

Find a white cloth and spit into it.Dye the cloth red. I personally suggest beet root juice or pomegranates.Spit into three sections of the cloth.Tye a knot into each of those sections, pulling it hard and tight. Spit upon those three knots. Knock the knotted rag against the front stone of their property whilst unseen. the older i get and the more veteran i become with witchcraft, the more weirdly specific the spells i write start to get. ive gone from "spell jar for happiness uwu" to highly ritualized things along the lines of "Spell To Help Convince Your Spouse To Go To Your Cousin's Wedding With You Because Your Mean Aunt Is Coming And You Need Support"

Peace Out Period Spell

To help relieve cramp pain and feel less affects in general

Need

🥀a small seashell

🥀one or two dried rose petals

🥀black pepper

🥀essential oil of your choice

Crush up the rose petals and add a sprinkle of the black pepper. Mix them together along with your essential oil. I used frankincense and myrrh, as it’s my go to for protection and witchcraft in general, but you do you.

Place the mix in the seashell and pack it down as if you were compacting makeup or something.

I personally asked for Aphrodite’s blessings in this spell, but call to whichever god(s) you believe would best be suited to this

Then when you need it grab a pinch out of the shell and either rub it on your torso or carry in your pocket.

🌹Beginner Spell to Make Your Period Lighter🌹

So I usually have a pretty heavy period and it’s so annoying. And it sucks even more when I’m working and I get my period. (I have a summer job, I dont work full time)

When I get my period on the week I work, I usually do this spell and results show pretty quickly. (Within 2 days)!!

*Supplies:

🌹Red candle

🌹A red rose

Directions:

🌹Light the red candle and hold the red rose in your hands.

🌹Say: I call upon thee [universe, elements, your diety, etc] to make my period light and make it through this cycle with ease. So shall it be.

*you don’t have to have any of the supplies listed, I did the spell in the bathroom with no supplies and it worked just the same!

💲🍺 My Cup Runneth Over Spell 🍺💲

What you’ll need :

1 cup or chalice (I got lucky and found this pretty one, but any cup works) Some change Cinnamon incense

Light the incense, and start filling your cup with all of your silver/ higher value coins. While you do this imagine the money multiplying. Once you have the coins in the cup surround whatever change is left around the cup. Now, take your cup and pour it out slowly, remember the sound the coins make on each other, and focus all your energy on the imagery of the coins overflowing your cup Once you are done make sure to clean your change up, and wash out your cup (because change is dirty yo!)

Make sure you ground yourself once you are finished !

a S E A W I T C H guide

💧 for those wanting to start out with sea witchery

Firstly a knowledge of the ocean and conservation efforts is essential. Basic books on marine life you can find at a library. For the actual magick part, I incorporate a lot of myths and legends into what informs my practice- sirens, mermaids etc.

🐚 pirate lore has helped me a lot as well with understanding the workings of ships and seafaring. Read up on Captain Kidd, Henry Morgan, Stede Bonnet, Calico Jack Rackham, Anne Bonny and Mary Read.

Now you’re probably like- this sounds lame what do old timey violent pirates have to do with sea witchery. You want to IMMERSE yourself in anything ocean themed. You’ll start seeing the imagery and items that will hold power for you- coins (pieces of eight), treasure chests (magick boxes), the idea of the name and figurehead of a ship being magickal, maps as magickal tools, sea shanties.

🐬Write and incorporate your spells into sea shanties and sing them. Listen to David Coffin for inspiration.

🐬Check out mariner’s knots on Pinterest and practice them. Knot magick is powerful and can be used for a lot.

🐬Lastly, collect shells, sand and sea water. Those are your bases for any spells. I like to grind up shells and use the powder. Shells can be used as spell containers or enchanted as charms. Sea water is used for purifying.

🐬Tap into the element of water. It’s ever changing and fluid. Take lots of baths and meditate. Have a dish with salt next to your bath and chuck in a handful as you run it. I’d suggest making a playlist of ocean sounds, harbor bells to play while meditating. (and cannon fire weirdly works for me too, I live in a coastal city where they fire cannons to tell the time a lot like in the olden days)

🐬Get you an oracle deck with mermaids or sea creatures. I love Magical mermaids and dolphins by Doreen Virtue.

🐬 There are a few apps you can get that track the tide. Plan your magick around the high or low tide. High for manifesting, low for banishing. Similarly, the moon pulls the tide so know your moon phases and meanings off by heart.

How to make a T R A V E L A L T A R

it’s often difficult to keep practicing your craft when away from home, and when you can’t lug all your items with you.

The perfect solution for this is creating a TRAVEL ALTAR.

Find a small tin, (tin is great, as you can use the lid as a tray to burn your sage in)

And fill it with the following:

✨ small tea candles, colored tea candles are great as well ✨a small pinkie sized bundle of wrapped and dried sage for Cleansing ✨small jars or phial’s of salt and herbs, rosemary or basil are good choices ✨crystals you like working with ✨enchanted jewelry

Wherever you go, you can do a little bit of bath magick, Cleansing or enchanting with the items in your tin. And it’s small enough to keep in a backpack or handbag.

sea salt

a couple rose petals

rose geranium oil

pretty paper, of any kind

mortar and pestle

fireproof bowl

With the oil, draw a sigil that represents how you want to be perceived onto the paper. It could be “beauty”, “androgyny”, “bad ass”, whatever you want. Once the oil soaks in, burn the paper in the fireproof bowl (I recommend using a lighter for this; be careful not to burn your beautiful self!!). Grind the ashes of the paper with the rose petals and salt in your mortar and pestle. The more rose petals you add, the more the color of the salt will change. I used a couple red rose petals for that pink look. Charge beneath the moon.

Use this salt to charge jewelry, sigils, keys, or other magical keepsakes that make you feel glamorous.

How to Enchant 💧

Your jewelry can be enchanted and programmed to do almost anything- with protection, a glamour or a charm just for luck.

A basic way to Enchant an object of jewelry is to first create an altar set up: illustrated is a basic set up I like to use to charge the jewelry with my intent:

Light the candles envisioning or speaking our your intent and pour sea water into the bowl. On a small piece of paper, sigilize your intent and place under the sea water bowl in the center of your altar.

Arrange your items around the altar- I prefer to keep it symmetrical and meditate on the properties the items are lending to the piece of jewelry- for a beauty glamour, Rose Quartz for attracting love, Rosemary for warding and protection and for being associated with Aphrodite, etc.

When you’re finished setting up, slowly dip the piece of jewelry in the sea water, visualizing it being purified and cleansed. Then, if it is a necklace, arrange it around the bowl. If it’s a ring or earrings, empty the bowl and place the item in the bowl.

Leave to charge with the candles burning for as long as you wish.

Starlight Sugar Scrub

A scrub spell to cleanse and promote feeling lovely.

You Will Need:

🌟 1 part Himalayan Pink Salt 🌟 1 part white sugar 🌟 1 part sea salt 🌟 2-3 tablespoons coconut oil (or other oil of your choice) 🌟 1 drop Lavender or Rose Essential Oil 🌟 Optional: White Body Safe Glitter 🌟 Small container 🌟 Popsicle stick or something else to mix with Use: Use on your skin to cleanse yourself and to feel beautiful. Gently apply to skin and apply in clockwise motions. Let sit for 5-10 minutes then gently wash off with water.
