There are several ways to interpret this scene, the main ones being: 1) WWX observes WN’s insecurity very quickly and instinctively reassures him because they are both Very Good Boys, or 2) WWX sees WN and decides to approach him for some information gathering, observes WN’s insecurity very quickly, and uses that as an in to create Bonding. This second theory would also explain why WWX is willing to threaten WN later on at Lotus Pier, as he doesn’t completely trust him yet and hasn’t fully established the bond they have later. I am personally a fan of a little bit of both theories at the same time.
