What’s this, another time-travel+de-aging plot? Yes. Shut up. I have a type.

So let’s set the scene. We are midway through the clone wars, as is only right and proper. Nobody’s doing great but we’re feasibly still not at peak trauma. Nobody’s faked their death in their students’ arms, nobody’s gone undercover as a slave or owner, nobody’s gotten framed for a terrorist attack and had to leave their entire life behind.

We go with the classic cliché of fandom: investigated a Sith Temple while hunting Ventress down, accidentally touched a Magic Object, got sucked into the past with no control.

Anakin finds himself in a snowstorm. He’s still wearing the same clothes, still has his lightsabers, still largely uninjured except for a blaster graze on his thigh. He’s got a few hours before he has to stop using the Force to keep himself warm, even though the prosthesis attachment point is going to be a bitch to keep from causing frostbite.

Unfortunately, he’s got babies with him! Yeah, turns out being the Chosen one can protect you from getting de-aged, but not time-travel. Wild, right?

I leave the elevator. I probably have an appointment, but I can’t remember where, or what for. I sit down on the floor by the elevator doors. I sob for a full minute. I take the elevator back downstairs, I walk home, I collapse in bed and rub one out thinking of darth vader. I feel better.

Five minutes later, I think about this ask again, and my whole world collapses again. It’s only Tuesday. I sigh heavily and sit down to write this reply.-

I’m so glad we are blessed to have @cruelfeline in our corner of the fandom (as well as others like her), because I cannot say how grateful I am to see her thorough take-downs of the many, many unfortunate takes that crop up from time to time.

Perhaps it's more his demeanor and actions they find intimidating? We as the audience know how cute he is, but i get the feeling that not everyone in the horde sees him very often, and when they do its possible that he's usually angry and growling and mysterious. Not to mention he's very powerful, and they don't know about his weaknesses like the audience does, they just see a strong angry man who's very willing to punish them if they screw up. I know I'm afraid when I think a big guy is about to hurt me, even if just looking at him he's nothing special.

I wonder if Hordak is frightening to look at for Etherians, and if yes, then like... why? There are so many different species of people on Etheria, and none of them seem to be conveyed as particularly terrifying.

I wonder what aspect of Hordak's appearance, if any, makes him "scary" by Etherian standards.

Hot take- the same things are considered scary because fantasy racism. After all, the "good guys" all look harmless to us, and the horde and people in the crimson waste are the only groups that seem to contain individuals with these "scary" traits. It makes sense that people considered to be bad and scary by princess society would want to join the horde or hide away.
