something about the fact that akio never truly said goodbye to satoru but instead left in the middle of the night after placing the letters in his room and it only being a pure coincidence that satoru found out not so long after and was able to get to the ship in time, only to be stopped by sana

or that the fact that akio’s death was unexpected and died not so long after they were reunited for the first time in years

satoru never truly coming to terms with the fact that akio will never be a part of his daily life again, his smile, his laugh, his touch, all gone in one night

even hundreds of years after akio dies and satoru never comes to terms with it, because after all, he died in his arms. how could he come to terms with it when he himself believes he could’ve saved him :,)

something about satoru wishing for akio to return despite knowing why he left. akio knowing that him leaving would hurt satoru but thinking at the same time that he’d be able to get over him. because how could someone like him, ever deserve satoru? someone born into so much falling in love with someone who has worked so hard for everything they have, he didn’t feel like he deserved him

that part you mentioned where satoru ends up isolating himself and staying in his room for so long after akio dies, only coming out if necessary. hiding in his room because he’s too scared that if he went outside he’d see all their memories play out in front of him, just to remember that akio’s dead. afraid to see the reaction of the people when they learned a bodyguard, someone who’s meant to protect the kamisatos, couldn’t protect the former fiancé of the eldest kamisato daughter. couldn’t protect someone he loved so dearly
