Rio Pescado Stubfoot Toad (Atelopus balios), in amplexus (breeding embrace), family Bufonidae, endemic to SW Ecuador

CRITICALLY ENDANGERED.

Described in 1973, the species was rarely seen after that, and even thought extinct for awhile, until one was found again in 2011. Not many have been seen since then though. Zoos are working to help them recover.

Endangered due mainly to the chytrid fungus.

Andersson's Stubfoot Toad (Atelopus palmatus), family Bufonidae, endemic to eastern Ecuador

CRITICALLY ENDANGERED.

Endangered due to chytrid fungus and habitat loss.

This species had not been seen in several years, when it was once again encountered in 2022.

Western Green Toad (Anaxyrus debilis insidior), family Bufonidae, found in the SW United States

Other variations of this toad do in fact have green on them.

This is a sub species of the North American green toad.
