Day 4: Cartoon // Winx Club

I was thinking about these prompts with a friend of mine, and for a cartoon, she suggested Winx. At first I was like yeah ok, maybe for the lols, but omg, the longer I thought about it the more perfect it became. A fairy of technology = Tecna!Robotnik, and a witch specializing in dark magic, trickery, and espionage = Darcy!Stone. Surprisingly perfect. 😂

Imagine how tall jimbotnik is in those heels. Like bitch, that's a motherfucking GIRAFFE. 🦒

Rambling:

Stone's face looks a bit derp. I like how Robotnik turned out, I like the suit, but Stone bugs me. The Trix Darcy make up didn't want to sit on his face. He does have his beard, which for some reason is something I tend to forget which would have made him look VERY weird. I tried to do one of those super exaggerated model-like poses they do in Winx, but I guess that just added to Stone's slight derpiness. But whatevs, it is a silly idea anyway.

Also fuuuuuck I need to post day 3 late. Big säd. :(

Day 2: Like a Song

I'm not really the type to make specific playlists for any ships, but I do remember someone mentioning that when people used to draw their OTPs in the Hatsune Miku 'Magnet' pose, that it was peak fandom era. So it's kinda music themed?

Yes, this is way more drool-lier than the original and yes, their hands are down each others pants, idk what's with me, most of my art for this week became nasty. xD

Here are some songs that I've mostly seen floating on Stobotnik Tumblr but that really stuck to my head as Stobotnik songs (even if I couldn't decide on any art from these):

x Billy Ocean - Lover boy (definetely something Stone sings in the shower)

x Andrew Montana - Strawberry (the line "I'll keep you, you menace" is such a Robotnik line to me. He doesn't want to admit even to himself how important Stone is to him, so it's like when he calls Stone his barnacle. He says he's stuck with Stone, his barnacle, his little menace, even though really he'd fight tooth and nail to keep him by his side. Again, his little menace. The line also works, since Stone is the only government assigned agent he has actually kept (I hope the Knuckles series doesn't ruin this headcanon from me). Anyway, big feels from this quote alone.

x The Correspondents - Fear and Delight (oh Stone is so horny)

My own suggestions and reason why:

Day 1: Body swap

Wohoo, it's Stobotnik week!

Starting with one of the days that gave me the most trouble. 😅 In my head, if Stone and Robotnik were to switch bodies it would be because of one of Robotnik's inventions, 'cause come on. He's that kinda bitch. Robotnik would spend the day doing soldering and other heavy-lifting kind of work his machine-building requires, since "holy fuck, my back hasn't felt this good in 30 years!!" ... yeah, regular exercise and other healthy life style choices will do that to you.

Stone in Robotnik's body on the other hand... my goodness, that freaky boy. He would, as soon as he could, say that he needed to go to the bathroom, and spend quite some time in there, you know, just looking. Touching him. Touching himself. Because god damn. It's like he's actually getting to touch Robotnik, but at the same time it's like Robotnik is touching Stone and whatever noices he makes are with Robotnik's voice and the bare hands hooo boi. Yes, it's not really consensual, but I don't think Robotnik would exactly ask for Stone's consent for the body swap either so in Stone's head, he'll call it even.

Just FYI, I wanted to go wayyyy raunchier with this image, but I've already had a post banned once so I didn't want to tempt the Tümblr gods again. So have a dreamy Stone-Robotnik just lightly touching himself. xD

Stone and Robotnik are looking done AF. I think this is sometime after Sonic 2. Robotnik has survived the fall (obviously he survives, or else I can't cope) but is still a bit banged-up. I think the time between movies 2&3 will be rough for both of them. Maybe Stone infiltrates G.U.N., or does other badass-ery, but either way, hard times for both. At least now they're on the same planet and able to meet when ever their situations allow.

I normally don't like doing things that are this heavily referenced by other's creations. But, I've been very frustrated with my art for quite some time now. No good ideas, everything I draw looks somehow wrong and just asdjiasjgasndlkfvn argh nope. But this one surprised me. Something about the cosplay pic just tickled me right and I'm quite happy with the result. This made me happy, and I wanted to share.

Also, I slipped a week ago. Twisted my ankle a bit, and I thought I actually broke a bone from my foot but fortunately not. But the bruising is EPIC holy duck, my whole frickin' foot is purple. So, this was also great inspo for drawing bruises. xD

Here’s orca Stone for sea sorcerer Robotnik!

He’s cute. He’s deadly. He looks to be quite normal and plain, but Poseidon’s balls he’s the messed up one of the pair.

While he’s not as gifted in wielding magic as Robotnik, potions, poisons and this types of things are his forte in addition to his skills as an assassin. He can use a potion to alter his appearance, but it’s his skills in deceit and manipulation that really add to his danger. You never know who he is or where he’s at, but he will always be there when you are at your weakest, show your cards and spill your secrets. And after your use has run out, no one will ever find your body. Is it because he just hides it well, or because killer whales might sometimes be a bit cannibalistic? Oh, he’s also an excellent cheff. 😈

Stone’s design caused me paaaaaain. On the other hand, the unassuming killer whale vibe fits Stone and it kinda looks like he’s wearing a black suit but ffs I also wanted to make him a really pretty and detailed tail like I did Robotnik. But sacrifices must be made. I at least added some dots and flower-y looking details loosely based on coffee flowers, otherwise he would have looked even more nakey next to Robonik. Maybe he could wear some snazzy coats and stuff in their hideout, to bring out his canon fashionista but I didn’t bother with this yet. He wouldn’t wear clothes outside the hideout as they would slow him down too much under water while on a mission.

Please tell me the golden flower on his but doesn’t look like a tramp stamp. 😭

Lemme just sneak in another Stobotnik Mermay AU, okay? This time, they are both mers, yay!

Robotnik’s design is based on a clearfin lionfish. It has his colour scheme and the plethora of spikes in all his fins suit his personality of being very hostile towards outsiders. +At least the biggest spines on a lionfish’s back also have quite potent venom in them so hey, more “keep the f away from me” -energy for the angry fish man. :P Btw, the last three fins on his tail are meant to be see-through, but you know, paper is white and I couldn’t be arsed to do a bg for this reference sheet thing.

In this au, instead of being scientist who specialises on all things electronic, Robonik is an infamous sea sorcerer who’s mostly thought to be a myth or just a legend used to scare children but still his name or any sign of his magic will make even the bravest tremble in fear. No one knows where his hideout is or what he does, thus over time it was thought that he didn’t exist in the first place. In this au, instead of putting animals inside his Badnik machines to power them up, Robotnik corrupts other sea creatures with his magic and uses them to do his bidding. Stone is not like this, he joined Robotnik by his own choice which still baffles Rob to this day. I have not yet thought of their back story through but this is the set up. Robotnik has been increasing his powers, developing all sorts of nefarious spells for decades with the help of orca Stone until a bright blue sea urchin starts causing them trouble.

Side note: I’ve been working on the designs and some drawings this whole month until I realised this weekend that shit, May will end on Wednesday... I need to start posting stuff to actual have it be MerMay lol. I’ll post Stone soon.

Day 7 Inverted jobs

This became a thing where for some reason Stone needs to pretend to be the eccentric genious doctor Robotnik, and Robotnik is the sleek agent Stone. Robotnik is not happy with how much fun Stone is having when for once he is the “sir” and “yes doctor”.

I like Stone’s coat. The big red glasses are inspired by some of @cheap-slaw ‘s work. As a coffee loving doctor Stone’s trademark drink would be a fancy Italian espresso served in one those teeny tiny glass mugs. Robotnik doesn’t really look like a government agent what with a red pin-stripe suit but meh, I like the contrast. He makes a dapper looking middle aged man when necessary. 🤭

Day 6 Mobian

They are taking a selfie to commemorate that they just got engaged. 💍💕

Eggman is a haaaairy hairy bear and Stone is an otter. The choice of bear is an obvious one for dear Eggie, he’s a bear even in human form. I chose otter for Stone, because their cute and non-threatening appearance is quite deceiving. Otters are apex predators in their natural environment and highly intelligent. Also, they often have facial markings on their snout that can look like a moustache or if modified a bit, a snazzy beard. +To my understanding, in gay slang an otter is a gay man who very meticulously takes care of his facial and body hair (unlike bears who just are their natural, hairy and beautiful selves), and come on. That’s so Stone. xD

Day 4 Supernatural

For this prompt, I initially wanted to go with the classic werewolf Stone and vampire Robotnik, buuuuuut then I had a thought. Stone is, in my eyes, often viewed as Robotnik’s shadow. He doesn’t really participate in conversation, unless directly spoken to, and mainly quietly follows and makes sure Robotnik is safe and provides him with whatever he needs. Kinda like a ghost? So, welcome Ghost!Stone:

Killed in action, Stone now haunts a government research facility. One day, Robotnik’s main lab is moved there into a bigger space after a tactical accident. Stone is intrigued by this new-comer and he immediately becomes his favourite person to keep an eye on. He has been sooooo bored and lonely after years and years of only watching the usual government researchers trying to re-invent the wheel or something equally stupid.

Thus far, Stone has been a quiet ghost. He hasn’t interacted with his surroundings or anyone since he died. But he changes that in his excitement to see what Dr Robotnik gets up to. He does small things: moves a wrench Robotnik is trying to find somewhere he can see it, makes the outside corridor of the lab have a super ominous and distressing aura around it, so people don’t want to come in and disturb the doctor, and most importantly: he never lets the doctors coffee go cold.

Robotnik doesn’t realise he’s being haunted for quite a while. As a man of science he scoffs at the idea of anything supernatural, and so doesn’t believe in ghosts. Also, Stone does try to keep himself hidden at first, mostly out of habit, but then changes this when he wants to start talking and interacting with this curious doctor who is very quickly stealing his long-dead heart. One night the lab is attacked, and even though Stone realises the Dr is capable of taking care of himself, in his rage Stone manages to visually appear and kill one the attackers.

Robotnik of course calls bullshit, and blames lack of sleep combined with adrenalin for this "hallucination”, and Stone throws a tantrum. He wants to rail in Robotnik’s daft but brilliant head that “I’m here! I might be dead but I’m still here!”. So he does all the cliché ghost stuff. He rattles chains while the doctors trying to think, and slings his wrenches and hammers away from him when he reaches for them. Robotnik stubbornly ignores this, until he reaches a breaking point when all of the coffee he makes starts to instantly turn ice cold. As in, Robonik’s breath fogs up when he’s trying to take a sip, and he’s hit in the face by a solid block of coffee falling from the cup.

While Robotnik still suspects he’s under a prank by the FBI’s supernatural department (yes, the idiots have one of those) he thinks “fine, I’ll play your game” and goes steal one of their Ouija boards. This finally gives Stone the ability to have a proper conversation with the man, and he’s over the moon. Robotnik of course get’s the scare of his life when the Ouija board starts glowing purple and in fact an actual real-life (or death?) ghost appears. They start talking, Robotnik studies Stone, and comes up with ways Stone can always talk to him without an Ouija board and can follow him outside the government facility he’s been tied to all his death. Maybe one day Robotnik would build Stone a new body of sorts he could haunt and still sort of continue living but idk. This is as far as my brain rot has gone. I mean this is already 500+ words so hey, thanks if you made it this far! Are you ok? xD

Day 3 Gift

Based on the fic “Had to Be You” by @sevi007 on Ao3. It’s a part of her series Coffee and Mayhem which I highly recommend, it’s so good! So, for the gift prompt, I took the line “I wonder if they ever realized... what a gift they handed me” from Sevi007′s writing (full credit to her!!) which I feel fits perrrrfectly for Robotnik. From his very core, he hates the government idiots, but damn he can’t help but be grateful since without them assigning Stone to work for him, they most certainly would have never met. Of course, he’d rather pull out all his teeth before ever admitting this but still. Murder and chaos wouldn’t be the same without Stone by his side.

Btw, I don’t know why the fuck I made Robotnik wear a Norwegian knit type sweater?? It was fun to draw yeah, but why brain?

Day 1 First Impressions

In my head, I picture agent Stone being sceptical when he gets assigned to Dr Robotnik. Since he’s a very capable agent, I think he’s more used to high-risk missions and jobs that sound way more exciting than being someone’s bodyguard/secretary. It doesn’t help that Robotnik’s list of achivements is a mile long, combined with his record of being an arrogant asshole. Stone assumes he’s getting assigned to just some “government dog” who is all bark and no bite, who just rages about his greatness and his inventions that really aren’t all that impressive. Stone is proven wrong of course, and something about this mad scientist who actually can erase not just government enemies but entire nations with a push of a button starts to tickle something funny in the equally (if not more so) twisted agent Stone. 

I think this would also be Robotnik’s first impression of Stone (once he actually realises that Stone is a capable and worth skimming the first few pages of his records). Robotnik views Stone as the governments sharp toothed lap dog, an efficient agent, but ultimately still idiotic enough to be loyal to the pentagoons. It takes Robotnik a lot longer (like a lot) than Stone to realise the others full potential and where his wicked loyalties actually lie.
