Y'all, the world is sleeping on what NASA just pulled off with Voyager 1

The probe has been sending gibberish science data back to Earth, and scientists feared it was just the probe finally dying. You know, after working for 50 GODDAMN YEARS and LEAVING THE GODDAMN SOLAR SYSTEM and STILL CHURNING OUT GODDAMN DATA.

So they analyzed the gibberish and realized that in it was a total readout of EVERYTHING ON THE PROBE. Data, the programming, hardware specs and status, everything. They realized that one of the chips was malfunctioning.

So what do you do when your probe is 22 Billion km away and needs a fix? Why, you just REPROGRAM THAT ENTIRE GODDAMN THING. Told it to avoid the bad chip, store the data elsewhere.

Sent the new code on April 18th. Got a response on April 20th - yeah, it's so far away that it took that long just to transmit.

And the probe is working again.

From a programmer's perspective, that may be the most fucking impressive thing I have ever heard.

so like. for context this is half projection but also i do think it fits at the very least with how i interpret logan. and this is NOT AT ALL NEGATIVE ABOUT HAILEY OR THE TWO OF THEM just like. y'know. vibes.

putting this under a cut because WOW this got very long

basically it comes down to like. i feel like logan really likes hailey as a person, and really likes the Idea of dating her, but also... does not fully feel Comfortable with it? leading to his general avoidance and hesitance. because he's just so entirely Not Sure. like every times he encounters hailey or thinks about the crush thing his thought process is like. something along the lines of

"hailey is very cool and nice and i like her?" > yes!

"hailey seems to like me too and i enjoy spending time with her?" > yes!

"i would be very happy to be closer to hailey and spend more time with her?" > yes!

"i should ask hailey out and start dating her because that's What People Do when they like each other a lot?" > sudden burst of uncertainty and anxiety he can't quite place.

it just very much feels to me like logan likes hailey and being around hailey and spending time with her more than he likes the idea of being in a romantic relationship with her. the expectations and connotations surrounding that are. intimidating! and scary! and so it intimidates him and he ends up backing down.

and i mean. he doesn't know what to do with the feeling? because he does like hailey! he does! he just gets so anxious and nervous every time he thinks about actually speaking to her about dating and he doesn't know why

and then because of course it is knowing me, this is connected to the three turning out songs by AJR which. are VERY aromantic songs to me. and my experience and such. they are like. QUINTESSENTIAL songs to my interpretation of logan.

ESPECIALLY the first one. like. just. obviously this is all headcanon but like. the current state of logan to me is very much the first turning out.

especially the lines like "am I ready for love? / or maybe just a best friend / should there be a difference?" and REALLY the ending with "i'm a little kid, and so are you / don't you go and grow up before i do"

like. i cannot stress enough that logan really likes hailey. he just. it's that aromantic type of love y'know? i'm going in circles here a bit but. it's the Vibes.

turning out pt. ii and turning out pt. iii are less super applicable, especially to current logan, but they're worth mentioning. also this part of turning out pt. iii are like. where i see this headcanon for logan ending up eventually.

and this from turning out pt. iii is very relevant to current logan and his relationship with hailey, i feel

BUT YEAH that's my. logan rhythm doctor aromantic thoughts. he and hailey stay close that's an important part of it to me. and hailey isn't aro but she cares about him and they reach an understanding or conclusion or whatever.

i will admit i've been firing my aromantic beam at a fair amount of the cast, just in different ways for each of them. ada, nicole, insomniac, and cole have all gotten variations on it from me. they're all different kinds of aro, partnering and non partnering. insomniac is a loveless aro to me. etc. i have so many headcanons about this game So Many ouagh.

PSA: the guardian is not working on a hit piece on diy hrt, and claims they are are misinformation

on the 18th, this post appeared on 4chan's /lgbt/ (slurs in thread: link). a screenshot was posted to reddit, then to tumblr. you've probably seen it:

today, the 23rd, another screenshot popped up on various discord servers, then was reposted variously to twitter. it shows a supposed email from guardian journalist and notorious TERF Susanna Rustin, claiming as the original 4chan post does.

it's now been shared around, and it's with good intentions. the message is useful: don't share your personal information or medical data with journalists, especially ones that happen to be TERFs.

but the post does this through misinformation and fearmongering. i'm still waiting on my response by email from Rustin, but she's reiterated twice (once, twice) that she did not write the email and is not working on such a story. on the 19th, i talked to other guardian newsroom journalists, who said they also did not know of a story's existence.

the moral of the story: this is misinformation, and it's dangerous. it spreads a fine message here, but it does it through spreading anxiety and terror.
