Bruno Madrigal ted talk!

in the deleted scene in Encanto where Augustin and Felix were talking to Mira about Bruno leaving, Felix admits that Bruno got mad at Abuela who got mad at him so Casita got mad.

Abuela says "if you leave this house, you are dead to me!"

Bruno replies "I wish I was dead!"

So maybe he was leaving and the house was upset and was pushing him out but later Bruno came back to live in the walls. But if you watch the movie, you'll see that the house can't help between the walls. Maybe he stays there because he doesn't want the house to kick him out. Yes he walks through the house, but only when Abuela is gone or asleep.

Another thing to add is that Bruno isn't afraid of angering Abuela. Nobody talks back to Abuela besides, on rare occasion, Felix and Augustin. But Bruno canonically argued at Abuela and even continued to do so at the end of the film to protect Mirabel from being treated like him.

We all know fun loving, cinnamon roll Bruno, but you can tell he has a lot of pent up anger and doubt that he tries to conceal.
