How do I create a research question?
1 What do you study; search for topics that you had in class, write them down
2 What are you interested in? Is there a problem that bothers you ´. e.g.: "Why are the richer getting rich and the poor getting poorer?"
3 Search for research questions/ Research topics on the internet and make a list until you get a feeling to what it should be like (for the start write down two per day - but do it on a daily basis)
4 The research question should tackle/ solve a problem. The problem needs to fill a research gap. It should also be a current topic. For this you could watch the news, or read the newspaper to get some ideas.
5 Write down your thoughts/ ideas for your research question. You can just brainstorm, and it doesn't need to be the definite topic. A lot of the times, the ideas written down within the first days aren't of any use. However, they are so vital to do, because they stimulate your thinking process. (If it is a BA/MA/DOCTORAL thesis) you may want to start using a notebook, because you will need to it to write down the most important things. But it all depends on what you feel comfortable with.

What is a "Stock Exchange", and why do we need it?
Tumblr media
(Image: finance-monthly.com)
A bit of history: The origins of the stock exchange as we know it can be dated back to the 17th century, with the founding of the Dutch East Indian Company (DEIC) (often classified as a trading/ shipping company and known for having traded spices) in 1602, but there are also earlier examples (wiki).
In order to finance their voyages, the DEIC sold "shares of their profits", so-called dividends to the people who were willing to lend their money to the company, and expected it to get returned to them in the future, plus a percentage of the profit (Investopedia).
The Amsterdam Stock Exchange (AEX) out of this, and therefore is the oldest one in the world. (amsa-network)
In a stock exchange, you can either buy or sell: shares, stocks, bonds.(amsa-network)
Shares: "one of the units that the ownership of a company, fund, etc. is divided into and which can be bought by members of the public" (dictionary.cambridge.org/)
Stocks: "the amount of money that a company has through selling shares to people" (dictionary.cambridge.org/)
Bonds: an official paper given by the government or a company to show that you have lent them money that they will pay back to you at a particular interest rate (dictionary.cambridge.org/)

Regulations towards entering China and the consequences for German Companies
Regulations to enter China have been tightened to a level, that it has become so difficult for firms to send their staff over for repair and maintenance for example. However, the number of German companies complaining has been high. This says a survey from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Abroad.
Basically, anyone entering the People’s Republic of China has to get quarantined for two weeks upon entry. If one then wants to go to a different region within the country, then they may face a second quarantine of two weeks (VDMA: Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagebau).
This delay reflects negative upon German firms who sometimes don’t have time due to pressing open orders. A high economic loss would therefore be the consequence.
Before leaving to go to China, the requirements for entering often aren’t known. Also, when being quarantined after entering, the standards are described as unacceptable concerning hygiene, no windows, hygiene tests when testing for the coronavirus, and so forth.
Some required specialists aren’t located in China and need to get send there. German companies may need pragmatic solutions.

Economy: “US-secretary Yellen demands a global minimum tax”
Who is Janet Yellen?: She is the 78th United States Secretary of Treasury, therefore the head of the United States Department of Treasury. This department is concerned with all financial and monetary matters.
Yellen demands a global minimum tax for companies in order to prevent the competition amongst states. This would lead to fair conditions for taxing companies. She stated this in the spring-conference in the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank as well as during a virtual meeting amongst G20 finance ministers.
The lower limit for tax would be 21 percent. More stable tax systems would be required for improving the infrastructure within a country. US-president Joe Biden plans a corporate tax of 21 percent. This however is for companies that are generating revenues abroad.
During the past decades, tax avoidance has been easy. Some enterprises practically pay no tax on earnings.

Shopping only for the ones that are tested negative for the Coronavirus
There is a trial model starting in Germany, which cities in Germany can apply for. This model enables the cities to reopen shops such as cafés, gyms theaters etc. However, this will only be possible if one has tested negative for the coronavirus. In order to participate in this trial model, a city has to have a 7-day-incidence value below 100. Because Hanover had a value of 127,4, it therefore did fail to meet the requirements. So far there have been 14 cities selected, and the plan is for more to join this model. Hanover also tried to re-apply.

Majority of citizens wish a hard lockdown/ Union decision-making for all provinces in Germany
During the Easter-Vacation, chancellor Angela Merkel is pleading all citizens to maintain small gatherings, if necessary at all.
All German provinces are implementing restrictions on different levels. CDU chairman and North Rhine-Westphalia premier Armin Laschet would prefer all provinces to make union decisions, when it comes to embank the coronavirus.
After several surveys, the majority of interviewees support stronger regulations towards containing COVID-19.

Only after being tested for the Coronavirus you can attend school?
Once the Easter break is over here in Germany, Lower Saxony requires students to get tested for the Coronavirus. It will be an obligation to do this. If in-classroom teaching were to take place, then all students and staff will have to make a self-test twice a week. Parents can exempt their children from class, if they do not wish to have them tested.

What banks are good for?
First of all, you can leave your money in your bank account, so you don’t have to hide it somewhere in your home or have to carry it around with you. That’s pretty much obvious. Secondly, they will lend you money.
But how do banks survive at all? Well, they live from giving low interest rate and for customers the interest on paying back a loan.
What would pose a risk for banks? Not properly estimating the credit-worthiness of a customer. How can you possibly give out a loan to a customer, who may not be able to pay it back, let alone the added interest rate?
The internet is something that we use on a daily basis. Even for me writing this post, I use it. Now concerning the question, how to check ones bank balance, transfer money, online baking has become part of our daily lives, and we manage a lot of these things, that the bank teller used to do for us not so long ago.
The question being asked here is, what are banks good for these days?
Banks are decreasing in size. In the financial sector, the number of employees has sunk a great deal within the past five years. Many banks are closing their branched. Most everything but obtaining cash from the ATM can be done online.

How To Write the Bachelor Thesis! Bachelor-Thesis: Long Road ahead or closer than You think?
Tumblr media
It was a bit scary to be at first to be honest. I would have to submit the structure for my thesis within a short period of time, and I didn’t have a topic yet. I struggled to figure out what would interest me, simply put, what would float my boat. There was a huge choice of topics, and I started to write ideas down to paper. This is about two months ago, and looking back to these ideas, they seem ridiculous to me now. But they were all necessary for me to find out the topic that I would be writing about.
It is a long journey that takes daily actions. Just a couple of days ago, I went through my introduction which I had rewritten over and over again. Also, I had the title written down, and it didn’t seem quite right to me. Whenever I thought  about sending my writing to my teacher, I felt uncomfortable, because it simply didn’t look like anything that I could be putting out there. I felt as if I needed to erase the whole thing and start all over again, with a different idea. I thought that all the days sitting at my desk, reading books on “how to”, researching, and writing, structuring and pondering around were all wasted. But when I figured that I only needed to move some wording around, the whole situation started to change. I felt as if I was closer to the result than I had thought at first.
I have half my introduction written now and am quite happy with my title and the structure of the introduction so far. However, the thing that bugs me is, that when I write freely, I don’t cite, which would be the next step of my journey. I then searched the literature, that I used in order to write my research question and my introduction. It comes in handy, to have saved everything prior, all the articles read (skimmed through) and pages opened (with the date last opened). I feel as if it is a bit of multitasking to read and focus on the text, when at the same time, to write down which thought came from where. But that is also all practice I guess.
