So I was rereading Harry Potter, when I came across this and thought- what if instead of Cedric Diggory, Cassius Warrington had been chosen to compete in the Triwizard Tournament?

Imagine Dumbledore calling out the name of the Hogwarts champion and it isn’t a Gryffindor, or a Ravenclaw, or even a Hufflepuff, but it’s a Slytherin. A student from a House most people hate.

Imagine Cassius Warrington getting up, and three out of four Houses are booing at him and shouting things like “NO!” or, “We can’t have a Slytherin champion!” or demanding a retry. But he’s a Slytherin- he’s been dealing with this shit since he got sorted, so he keeps his head high and joins the other champions.

Imagine Harry trying to catch Warrington alone because he doesn’t really want to associate with Slytherins (plus Malfoy has this tendency of being around the guy ALL THE TIME since he got chosen), but at the same time he’s also fair enough not to want him to walk into the first task unprepared.

Imagine Warrington walking over to Harry a few months later, and Ron and Hermione both jump into a protective stance, wands out, but instead of attacking Harry he just tells him to stick the egg underwater. (Because Slytherins don’t forget those who helped them out).

Imagine Warrington and Harry helping each other out in the labyrinth.

Imagine Harry being devastated when Peter kills Warrington- because Voldemort doesn’t care what house they’re form, a spare is a spare.

Imagine the uproar that causes among the Slytherins, because some of their parents really are Death Eaters and they know what really happened.

Imagine Slytherins fighting in the Battle of Hogwarts and shouting “This is for Cassius!”

‘Harry the Hufflepuff’ by BajaB on fanfiction.net (there’s hth 2, 3, and 4 as well)

this one…LMFAOOO it’s so insanely funny i read all 4 books like all in one go, i’m obsessed.

so this story has a harry that’s extremely lazy. all throughout his childhood, his aunt always told him he was lazy. now he didn’t start out lazy but since his aunt told him he was so often, he figured he’d embrace it and become truly lazy. so that leads harry to being extremely nonchalant and that’s what lands him in hufflepuff instead of gryffindor.

so throughout this story, it shows harry coming up with absolutely ridiculous inventions and strategies to doing the absolute bare minimum required without using more energy that he needs to. now obviously this attracts everyone’s attention and harry becomes notorious throughout the fic for his wacky schemes. it’s so funny cause everyone’s amazed but also slightly concerned by the things he just so casually does in his free time.

and every time he saves the day, he only does it if he finds the energy within himself and if it somehow coincides with his daily activities. so honestly when he ‘saves’ the day it’s more of an accident than it being intentional.

but please read this, it’s such an insanely funny series. 10/10

this one was seriously so fucking funny i’m begging you to read it.

so basically this one is a story where on halloween night when voldemort tried to kill harry and he accidentally made harry a horcrux, instead of the horcrux having no real influence on harry’s behavior like in the books, here voldemort completely takes over harry’s body and retains all the memories of voldemort’s life. it’s basically a mixture between harry and voldemort in what you could call ‘harrymort’

everything that happens is so funny cause yeah harry saves the day but harry only does it because it just so happens to benefit him in some way so everyone around him constantly questions his morals and motivation and gosh it’s funny.

all in all, harry’s insane and everyone can’t find anything to question him about since everything ends up going somewhat okay. please read, the writing is amazing. 10/10

‘Oh God Not Again!” by Sarah1281 on ao3

i’m so dead serious when i say this one of, if not the most, funniest fics i’ve ever read. i was literally cackling the whole time i was reading.

ok so basically this fic was about harry potter, at the age of 23, walking through the veil in the department of mysteries and somehow traveling back in time to about a month before his first year. now he was a bit disoriented at first and wasn’t too keen on missing out on the life he had going for himself to instead redo his school years, so he decided to make it fun for himself and made the most of out his situation. this includes many hilarious schemes and messing around with people with his knowledge of the future. he creates this reputation for himself and it’s just so fun to read.

the writing was brilliant, and i really do recommend this, especially if you’re looking for a more humorous fic. 10/10

this was actual perfection, like it felt like this fic was delivered to me on a silver platter it was so amazing.

ok so basically it’s a stevebucky fic, and while it’s only has 1 chapter, it has over 50,000 words and it perfectly fits in every detail it needs to. like every word spoken has a purpose and has an effect and it’s just written so beautifully.

the general plot of it is steve and bucky switching dog tags as declarations of their love to each other, basically telling each other that if either of them died, they’d wanna be buried under each other’s name (hence the title of the fic). and gosh it was so beautifully done and now i can see why there’s a quote bot on twitter for this fic.

my description really doesn’t do it justice LMFAO but i would definitely recommend you read this. 10/10

THIS FIC WAS SO BEYOND AMAZING. no i’m so deadass when i say this has got to be one of the best fics i’ve ever read, if not the best one yet.

ok so basically this is a stevebucky fic where it depicts a hypothetical trial for the winter soldier which takes place somewhere in 2015. it’s written in the format of a trial, so i especially love this fic for that purpose

it goes over crimes the winter soldier committed with witnesses of these crimes. steve, natasha, sam, and tony all go up as witnesses, all of whom say what they witnessed but also advocate for bucky at the same time. the writing during these parts are especially amazing as they give realistic testimonies to these events, with one of the witnesses noting a significant difference between the man she saw as the winter soldier, and the man standing in front of her who is of course bucky.

and this fic makes me especially happy because stevebucky get a happy ending. (i’ll reblog the fanart of their happy ending) i don’t wanna give too much away, but i definitely recommend this, it’s literally perfection. 10/10

p.s. this review is probably pointless cause every stevebucky fan has probably read this but eh i’ll give my two cents on it anyways

‘Dancing in the Dark’ by damagectrl on AO3

THIS ONE WAS SO GOOD. gosh i loved it sm.

so basically it’s set sometime in season 2 while everyone’s in ba sing se. zuko and iroh are working in the tea shop in the lower ring and the gaang’s in the upper ring searching for appa. the rumors of the great tea from the lower ring travel to the upper ring and soon enough people from all around are coming for this shop for tea. eventually katara and toph hear about it and travel to the tea shop. also, katara already suspects its zuko and iroh, as people described the workers as a boy with a scar over his entire left side of his face and an old man, so she wanted to check it out for herself. of course, they have a heated encounter and she and toph leave. BUT zuko follows them and makes up a plan to try and capture aang. so the next night, as the blue spirit, he finds katara in a park trying to learn to dance for this festival thing that was being hosted in the lower ring. zuko, being royal, decides to silently teach her how to dance and completely forgets about capturing aang.

so for the next like week, zuko and katara keep having angsty, yet cute moments in the tea shop that do indeed develop into an attraction. but the only thing that happens is between the blue spirit and katara, so while things are happening on zuko’s end, katara just thinks she’s with some random dude under a mask. of course his identity is revealed eventually but i won’t give away too much.

anyways this fic was SO good, i absolutely loved it. the characterization was great and made sense, the plot was amazing, and overall the writing was very good. i definitely recommend it. 10/10

ok so this fic was a one shot muggle AU where james and sirius are history teachers and remus and lily are english teachers all at the same school. everyone knows james and lily are married to each other, and everyone knows james and lily are both friends with remus and sirius, but the same can’t be said for remus and sirius. you see, everyone thinks they hate each other just because they don’t talk often, but when they do, it’s only to talk about students or insult each other.

now everyone knows remus is married and has a son (teddy) but no one knows anything more about him. same goes for sirius, as no one knows anything about him and just assume he’s single. but it’s funny because they married to each other, and no one has been able to figure out in all the years they’ve been working at this school. until that school year.

so basically every year the 4 of them take about 50 students on a 3 day senior trip to a lake to hang out and enjoy the last days of their senior year. but this year’s different because there are people who are starting to be suspicious of remus and sirius based off of things that the 4 of them have accidentally let slip about remus and sirius.

i absolutely LOVED this fic and it was so fun to read. it was like exciting to see the students trying to solve the mystery of who remus and sirius are married to. yeah i definitely recommend if you want to read a muggle teacher AU where students try and figure out wolfstar. 10/10

‘Clothe Me in Seasons, Dress Me in Snow’ by sadladybug on AO3

this fic was SO good omg. it’s a classic case of right person, wrong time and it like brought out so many emotions in me.

ok so basically, it opens up with zuko, who’s really old, going to a memorial he’s personally doing for katara after she passes. and so with this, he’s revisiting all the memories they have together. and these memories are things he holds dear to him, because they’re all memories depicting the love they had for each other, but ultimately could never act on just for the reason of it being the wrong time and miscommunications. bc they end up with different people (zuko/mai, katara/aang) but in the end they still have a strong love for each other. it’s both heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time, but i love how it’s portrayed. it’s big message is that you can love more than one person in your life and i just think that’s a really sweet message.

i don’t want to give away too much but you definitely should read this, even though the whole ‘unrequited love’ things a little hurtful. 9/10

‘Destiny is a Funny Thing’ by FanofmanyFandoms on AO3

ok this was really cute actually. so basically, it’s a rewrite of season 3 that starts on ‘The Southern Raiders’ episode and is an altered version from that point on to fit in zutara. they form a bond after talking about losing their mothers and eventually all the things they’ve been through. to put it simply, they trauma bonded and i love how it was portrayed. it felt realistic cause neither of them poured every single secret out at once. they over time became more and more close and in return let out all their secrets, which created a deeper bond. gosh the bond they formed was just so cute and it warmed my heart, especially cause they told each other things they never really told anyone before. idk i just feel as though this is a really nice portrayal of what zutara could have been. and it makes sense in the context of the show, as in canon, they did form a bond over losing their mothers. so i just really enjoyed it. and of course, the romance aspect was really well done. it was a slow burn that just made sense and worked in, again, the context of the show.

idk if you could tell or not, but i liked this fic. a lot. 😭 anyways 8/10.

‘The Last Waterbender’ by myshipsaresunk on AO3

this fic is an AU where katara’s the avatar. its interesting because katara was stuck in an iceberg for 100 years, like aang in the og show. but instead of having someone like appa, it was actually sokka who survived in the ice with her, but they for some reason woke up in different spots when the ice cracked.

anyways it is a zutara btw, so naturally this concept is fun and angst filled. bc the one to discover katara out the ice is zuko, who’s of course on his mission to capture the avatar, but neither katara nor zuko knows she the avatar, so she spends time on the ship with zuko without any problems as she just seems like an average girl who somehow survived the genocide of her people and came out of ice 100 years later in the same condition she was, 100 years ago. obviously they grow close on the ship and form a special bond. but one day there’s a storm and to save the ship, and she goes into the avatar state to save the ship. after this she’s visited by the air avatar before her (not aang) and is told she’s the avatar. so she tells zuko of her news cause she has no clue he’s been looking for the avatar. originally he decided her wasn’t going to capture her cause he cared about her, but azula psyched him out and he did end up capturing her. so you know a lot of angst later they get back together and live happily ever after (i think, my brains going a little blank right now)

i guess you could call this trope a strangers to friends to lovers to enemies to friends to lovers. it’s a really interesting concept and it’s definitely a good read. it’s pretty good writing and overall a pretty good fic. 6/10

‘Another Brother’ by AvocadoLove on AO3

this ones an AU where zuko was raised in the southern water tribe with katara and sokka after an incident in the fire nation landed him on a fire navy ship burned and unable to talk for a few months.

ok i found this one really cute actually. it was really well written and i think it depicted a really nice sibling bond between zuko and katara and sokka. it’s realistic too, with elements of the tribe at first being wary of zuko, and zuko physically struggling to survive in the south pole due to cold climate. (i won’t give all the details in case you want to read this) i also enjoy the aspect of zuko finding out he’s a prince of the fire nation and struggling to accept that part of him when he’s identified himself as a member of the southern water tribe for as long as he can remember.

OOO and i love reading about zuko and katara bonding over their bending, and learning with each other, which is evident in their fighting when they use the same bending forms.

tbh i haven’t read the whole thing bc i forgot to but i definitely recommend (it’s not finished yet, btw) if this concept interests you. 7/10

ok hi sorry, haven’t reviewed a fic in a while.

since my last review, i kept reading really shitty fics that i didn’t like enough to give a review on. i really only review fics i like bc i don’t feel comfortable reviewing fics i didn’t like. publicly trashing someone’s work isn’t what i want to do, so i simply didn’t review anything for a while.

also just had a hard time finding good fics in general. i feel like i’ve read all the good harry potter fics (i definitely haven’t i just can’t find any more) so that’s all why i’ve been radio silent.

but actually, recently i fell down a wormhole of good zutara fics so maybe i’ll start reviewing those. i’ll also probably just start reading a lot of avatar the last airbender fics so those reviews will come soon. OH and i have found harry potter fic recs so i’ll read those too.

so yeah i haven’t died, i’ll post another review soon

‘A Store of Happiness’ by coyotesuspect on AO3

this fic a one chapter book with 10,845 words, so it’s just a short little AU in which peter pettigrew is actually caught on the night in the shrieking shack, so sirius is proven innocent. and in this fic is centered around harry going to live with sirius and remus after his 3rd year. now honestly it starts off with a little bit of awkwardness as of course sirius and harry barely know each other, remus up until this point was just simply harry’s teacher, and sirius and remus have unresolved issues. btw this fic does indeed include wolfstar. but anyways, it gives off of a realistic awkward feeling as like i said, and it’s a new situation so it needs some time to get used to. but as the gradual process of everyone getting more comfortable and those unresolved issues getting solved, it does turn into a very cute AU where sirius, remus, and harry are a family unit who all care very deeply for each other. and hermione, ron, and harry trying to figure out what’s going on between sirius and remus is quite entertaining, especially when they catch them snogging. all in all, a very cute fic. so i would recommend if you’re a fan of cute, happy AU’s. 6/10
