Do other writers ever get this like, hyper-specific dialogue exchange drop into their brains and you know exactly where these character are standing and what they’re doing and how they’re saying these words but that’s all you get. You don’t have much other context and this specific moment that exists only at this time in your headspace??

Araçari (OC from my Advanced Aves tribe) - Digital Painting

I've been trying since July to get this to upload non-blurry. I give up.

I had a lot of fun designing this character (all the Advanced Aves are fun to design, tbh... getting all those bird traits into human form is a creative feast). Hurrak, who I [posted before] is also part of this tribe.

ABOUT THE CHARACTER Araçari works as a merchant in the Advanced Aves tribe, selling goods produced within the tribe as well as imported goods from the outside world.

CHARACTER DESIGN The beak is actually a part of his head, not a hat, and the feathers are also attached to him, but he disguises it as a cloak.

This character is based on the collared araçari [wiki page], a small toucan, and everything he's wearing represents the markings on the bird. Here's a photo I took of one, so you can see how I turned the markings into jewelry, etc.:

On the back, the space between the wings is burgundy red, which I used for the fabric color.

😂 Snippet beyond, thanks for the ask!

Carmine straightened in her chair and composed herself with a small grin. “Go for it.” With a smile and nod, Art leaned back in her own chair and closed her eyes… then reopened them, her face showing no expression at all. It was the coolest thing Carmine had ever seen. It was just so amazing that Art was teaching her so much, so fast! She felt like the luckiest person on the whole planet, getting a chance to dazzle Art with her fast learning skills and being Ultimecia’s star student and— Carmine was just about to bound across the table and give Art a giant hug before she realized what was happening. She looked away for a moment, hoping the feeling would fade, but it didn’t. This, Carmine concluded, is very intense. Art’s tone was calmly measured. “You can tell me how it affects you, but only if you wish to.”

So there was a little Kontext spinoff fic I wrote a few years ago which I posted, hated, took down, and have been rewriting/adding to ever since. This WIP is the chapter I'd been poking at most recently!

Basically, this snippet is Art teaching Carmine about enthrallment, since it makes for a wonderful self-defense spell that doesn't leave a mess. XD
