Today I brought my dog over to see my 3 year old nephew. He decided it was a good idea to rub his face just behind her ears because that is where she is the softest. Kids are such adorable weirdos.

Mandy, a character from my current project. Chosen as a sacrifice at 6 years old, Mandy was sent beyond the wall as a gift to the Devourer. But Mandy ran. Survived. It was luck at first, but over time she became a huntress and the protector of others chosen for the Devourer. I love this drawing of her, but I think my subconscious took the reins while I was sketching because she looks a lot like my friend’s little sister 😂 Honestly though, I like the comparison. Both are fun, kind, a little awkward and off-putting, strong, clever, cunning, and most of all, absolutely lovable.

Watching Umbrella Academy right now and Five is such a chaotic little weirdo, but I would follow him to the end of the earth. I think we’d be friends.

Isn’t it amazing that our brains can tells us the stories we’re reading aren’t real, but our hearts, they’re so big it doesn’t matter? Our hearts are so big that we cry, we laugh, we smile as we read words on a page. We feel our cheeks heat with embarrassment when a character embarrasses themself because our hearts understand. They are fake, their story false, the world they live in a construct of imagination, but they move us, they carry us with them on journies and adventures. Our hearts are so big they can break for these paper people. Our hearts are so big that we can’t help but feel as we read of nothing that ever happened. Our hearts are so big they can create love from nothing but words. I, for one, think that’s wonderful.

Been slowly posting some of the better sketches from a sketchbook I gave my brother last Christmas. Couldn’t post them before because like, what if he saw them?
Anyway here’s Gavin and Fennec, a warlock fashion designer and a weird, fox-boy thing that may or may not be a fallen god. They’re kinda stuck with each other as they try to return to their respective home universes.

Telling someone about a book you’re reading and realizing you don’t know how to pronounce the character’s names but it doesn’t matter because they haven’t read it yet.

Dimitri and Mercury from my book, Heart of the Empire. Brother and sister, High Emperor and High Empress of Syytala. Neither likes to be kept indoors too long. Windows help though.
(These are honestly two of my favorite drawings I’ve ever done)

I’ve been meaning to do more book reviews on here but keep forgetting, so here goes my second book review:
I have finally finished the Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson. I’ll be honest, the first two were just ok in my opinion, but I kept reading because my brother made me. The third one, however, was AMAZING. Few series are as well thought out as these were. The final book was a fantastic, surprising, culmination of everything Sanderson laid out in the first two. I would highly recommend the series, mostly for that last book (The Hero of Ages). So. Good. Read. It.
