This is Torachande, a DeviantArt friend's character, which I drew back in 2006. The design is based on a ref sheet created by another DeviantArt friend.

There's a long and silly story behind the image, the upshot of which is that Torachande cares not a whit for eating with chopsticks, and all civilizing efforts be damned. He burned them all, and laughed about it.

I had a lot of fun with the lighting effect for this one. I haven't done a whole lot of firelight-from-below illumination schemes. I should do this again sometime.

I made this with watercolor and Prismacolor pencils over an ink drawing.

Last show: Echo! I love it. Also, fellow aspecs, there's next to no romance (the closest thing to a couple is Maya's grandparents who aren't together anymore), so if you don't mind violence you might want to give it a chance! The focus is on family, it's really nice.

imagine thinking the Predator franchise (not even AVP, just Predator) isn’t critical of the military at its core when the first movie’s primary conflict before the alien plot took precedence was “the military lied to a paramilitary group to get them into a foreign country and decimate political enemies that they couldn’t legally kill themselves, that the group would never have done otherwise because they have some morals, and used them as expendables, so the military could keep their hands clean of the affair”

trophy making is also like, twistedly kind of a labor of love? at the very least, with a genuine sense of admiration

the effort, the care, the pride that goes into cleaning them up and responsibly keeping them in top shape, the way that Jungle Hunter legit on-screen just caresses his finger across the brow of a skull not to (solely) clean a smudge but just to admire his work and presumably reminisce the kill, remember how the fight preceding his victory went

the sheer respect millennia-lifespanned warriors have for quick-lived prey, to preserve them as long as they can, all because they put up a good fight, just the sheer cajones to try and hold their own, that’s enough to justify taking a place in a great warrior’s shrine
