The problem with Fred getting little positive attention from fans for 55 years is that it’s been so long to where him being the “worst” or most boring member of the gang is basically imbedded in the public mind at this point. Scooby Doo series that give Fred depth, personality, and funny moments have been released for a long time now, but the average person is still only familiar with the original 1969 show. Or if someone is familiar with one of those newer shows, it’s considered the exception and the one series that “finally gave Fred a personality”. It’s considered the exception despite Fred having a vibrant personality for the majority of Scooby-Doo’s existence. Around 40 years now, maybe more. I’m not saying everyone has to love Fred, but so many don’t even give him a chance and write him off as boring or mean.
