CHANGE AGILITY! ...if you must change, change now! Motor cycles (Okada,bikes) and tricycles(Keke), were banned in Lagos. This had brought about untold hardship to the residents. Typical of Nigerians, we expect everyone to adjust soon, based on our Naija* resilient nature. The burden of adjusting will lie more with the entrepreneurs that had pumped in money into assets, operations, R&D etc of bikes. How can the entrepreneurs adjust? The truth is that being an entrepreneur is one of the most difficult paths in life and you must be change agile to survive. If it's not this ban, it would have been a change in technology or trend in the nearest future. Now that we can see that horse ridding in tropical Africa is not the most profitable (a horse got exhausted and collapsed yesterday after few trips), entrepreneurs need to find that money spinning new path in transportation. In the coming weeks, we will see a boom in the boat business, followed by the private jet services. Investors can look into these but the important semi-lower-class (low income earners) are still not catered for. In my opinion, a car, the size of a tricycle, but with 4 tyres will be the ultimate hit. The government ban is on keke and bikes, right? The entrepreneur that will win this war will make the necessary inquiries from the government and ensure that the production of these miniature vehicles is done in less than 2 months. Change agility is speed dependent, hence If you have to change, change now. If you are stuck in what used to be (or should be) for too long, your change will be a waste. Even with the miniature vehicles, Lagos will still have to battle with the incessant traffic jams but the number of hoodlums-bike -riders would have been reduced, (which by the way is one of the major problems of the government).
