Gaza Plays Peace: Help a family run nonprofit support children in Gaza!
vimeo
This video above shows players in Gaza Plays Peace in Summer 2023, a youth org in Gaza which is still serving children now. They are suffering terribly now, but they are still able to receive donations. GPP's leaders in Gaza (The Ahmed Family) and many of their players are all staying together in Rafah right now; thus I speak of them interchangeably--funds are for basic supplies for all the people who were able to get out of Gaza City to Rafah.
Dear Friends,
I’m posting on behalf of my friend Loai, who founded and runs Gaza Plays Peace, a youth soccer league in Gaza City. If you've been to the Museum of the Palestinian People in DC, you might have met him giving tours there. Both Loai’s family and the child players have been displaced to Rafah; their house in Gaza City is completely flattened.

Loai is still able to get funds to his family to support them and the kids. Right now they have eaten this week thanks to donations. Unfortunately none of them have been able to get on a list to get out yet. We are raising money for basic supplies like food and tents. I will provide updates on this post and on the fundraiser itself if anything changes.
We are fundraising through Save Our Story, a nonprofit organization that supports Palestinian organizations in the USA. Organizations they support include Filistia Films, the studio that produced Brooklyn Inshallah and Angel of Gaza. This means all your donations are tax-deductible.
More info at the fundraiser page below. I can personally vouch for Loai and Gaza Plays Peace as an organization. We haven't been able to get many photos recently except for the destroyed house.
If you have any tech issues with the page or have any questions, send me a message.
Please give; any amount helps, and please share!
Thank you <3

'The Chuts'. Dutch Cigar Makers’ Sabbath meal in London's East End, 19th century • Sandys Row Archive
From the 1840s onwards a small group of pioneering Dutch Jews (about 50 families), mainly from Amsterdam, settled in an area in West Spitalfields known as the Tenterground. Hugeunot silk weavers, erected homes and workshops there in the eighteenth century, later becoming occupied by this small tight-knit Dutch immigrant Jewish community, known as “the Chuts.” These little known Dutch Jewish immigrants pre-date the mass migration of Ashkenazi Jewish migrants who fled persecution in the Pale of Settlements and arrived in their thousands to the area from 1880s onwards. The Dutch immigrants who established Sandys Row Synagogue were economic migrants seeking a better life, rather than refugees fleeing persecution. They had their own practises and customs, which were different to other Ashkenazi Jewish groups and refused to join any of the existing synagogues. Most of the newly arrived Dutch Jews were skilled workers, predominately involved in the trades of cigar and cigarette making, diamond cutting and polishing, slipper and cap making. Skills were passed on from generation to generation, making this small community of about a thousand people extremely self sufficient.
