I do live in the US. I was born and raised overseas, but I've lived here long enough to call myself an American, so I understand how you're feeling.

Somehow, because we see people in a place we are preordained to hate by the sanctity of American democracy, genocide comes to a debate. Genocide.

Israel vs. Palestine are unequal opponents. One opponent receives billions of dollars in aid from America, has nuclear weapons, and an Iron Dome defense system. Palestine must work against the islamophobia indoctrinated into the Western World to be viewed as people. To reach zero, to reach a point of minimal objectivity, Palestinians must condemn each and every form of resistance in front of the world while having their grief and hardships continuously and relentlessly devalued in favor of their colonizers.

American tax dollars have always acted in the interest of war. Historically, politically, economically, without war, America wouldn't hold the power that it does today. Gaza is dying beneath a blanket of bombs bought by our tax dollars.

But, as difficult as it is, we are not without power. People everywhere are protesting for the lives and freedom of the Palestinian people. It's not going to happen easily or as quickly as we think, but to surrender to that feeling of helplessness would be permission for this to continue.

The institutions that seek to normalize the oppression and genocide of the Palestinian people, hope that we will tire of the images and stories and pain and grief. We are in a position of immense privilege and if the minimum is to listen and bear witness then imagine what maximum effort might look like.

I hope you're well too! As for other fandoms: AOT, One Piece, BNHA, Chainsaw Man, Hell's Paradise (I consume manga like it's air tbh). Oh, everyone should read the Witch and the Beast. It's amazing and the art is ✨chef's kiss✨

These are the fics that I'm currently reading:

counterfeit hearts by @sugiwa: This one's a One Piece OC fanfic and it's so good. There's so much world building and we get these snippets of like in-world literature that's genius. Here's one line: "Pirate is a label for those who pledge themselves to freedom amid this violent age." And if that doesn't sum up One Piece, I don't know what does. Also, the author wrote What Heroes do, my fave BNHA fanfic.

Death's Door by SongsOfApollo: Doctor Reader and Levi Ackerman speaks for itself, but this is just really human and so lovely. There's a letter written into Chapter 24: "And I must become content with that reality, no matter how much it makes me feel disappointed." I think we've all felt this and it hurts.

Well Hey There, Neighbour by Antifreeze_at_its_Finest: The cliche of falling in love with your neighbor never worked better. Really sweet and completed. Plus, I can't get away without leaving a Haikyuu reccomendation.

          It was Osamu who convinced her to become their manager. A whole year of begging and bringing her food, had softened her and now Y/N found herself sheepishly leaving her classroom with Osamu and Atsumu gripping each shoulder. Afraid that she would run away, they’d come to escort her to Gym B where the rest of the volleyball team was waiting in anticipation of their new manager. Personally, she wanted to beat the twins over the head with her bag, but every time she’d fought with them Aran somehow found out and would yell at them for hours.

           “You know if you two were nicer, maybe there’d be more girls interested in doing this,” muttered Y/N. The urge to dig her feet into the ground and refuse to move grew stronger the closer they got. Atsumu and Osamu shared a grin over her shoulders.

           Atsumu ducked and grabbed her knees while Osamu wrapped an arm around her torso holding her up. Y/N shrieked and kicked at the laughing blonde. Her bag slipped from her shoulder, only to be caught by Osamu who nearly dropped her while catching it. A bright burst of anger filled her beat only by the sudden urge to laugh as they hurried past their perplexed schoolmates.

           “I’m wearing a skirt, you idiot. Let go,” she shouted, pulling the hem down as far as it would go. Atsumu swung her legs wildly, laughing again as she screamed.

           “Nah-uh, Y/N-chan, you’ll run away,” grinned Atsumu widely.

           “I’ll kill you both.”

           “Big words for someone at our mercy,” said Osamu, jerking his arms to the side.

           “What are you two doing,” Aran asked in horror as they arrived. Y/N hung limply between the two brothers only to be dropped as the twins straightened up. Groaning, she rolled over, pressing her hands to her flushed cheeks.
