I adore everything about this movie, and especially this scene, because it is never explained where the attack helicopters came from, why they're there, and most importantly, why the attack helicopters, which can fly, cannot chase down the speedboat. Not a single shot is fired, no one comes out of the helicopters, they just... fly overhead:

and cue the above scene, but at no point does anyone actually pursue or attack them. It's so incredibly and delightfully in line with this whole movie's absurdist aesthetic (two spies from rival powers who fell in love? who were they spying for? why are all their loved ones totally chill with them being together?? who is trying to kill them???) my similarly favorite part is that the main personal conflict between Antonio Banderas and Machete, which has lasted ten years and has left them so estranged that Machete doesn't even want to hear Banderas's name, is later resolved by revealing that neither of them remember why they're estranged.
