Something I want to add for anyone who helps that Percy had his memory erased but still remembers her and thinks "Oh, well, that settles it".... so did Barry. Many, many, many, MANY times!

Lup goes missing and during their search for her (mostly run by her twin brother Taako and Barry himself) their memories are lost (I would explain how but it's kind of a lot and that isn't the point I'm making today). The only way for Barry to remember is to die, but he needs to he living to find her.

He died and was reborn so many times he lost count and every single time he died he remembered everything and was torn to shreds all over again. He forgot everything many times and just knew deep down that he was looking and longing for someone and kept going.

Percy did it once. Barry did it multiple times by choice. They have known and loved each other for over a century and he fully intends to make it until the world explodes.

Blupjeans: fantasy nasa astronauts stuck in a functional time loop together spend 47 years slowly falling in love which culminates in them playing a beautiful duet with stunning narration about learning how to care for each other and be cared for (and then a couple more decades after that they rip their souls ouf of their still-living bodies to become terrifyingly powerful undead abominations together for eternity and it fucking rules) >:) Also Lup is canon trans so that rules too Percabeth: They meet as 11 year olds and don't really get along but within a couple weeks they end up best friends and Annabeth canonically had a crush on him by the end of the first book. They both liked each other (though Percy was oblivious to his feelings until they were 16). They fought side by side door years, kept nearly dying for each other, she was literally Percy's anchor to the mortal world when he went in the river Styx, and they both have up immortality (and in Percy's case, godhood) for each other all before actually admitting they had a crush on each other. Also, An additional year can be added for when he was kidnapped and his MEMORY WAS ERASED! and all he could remember was HER NAME 😭 and she searched for him that whole year.

You thought I was done? No, I'm not done talking about Taako and Lucretia.

During the Stolen Century the seven of them got so close. Closer than most-- not most, ANY-- people get the chance to be in their whole lives. They got something so precious, and so wonderful in a bad situation.

And when they all remember they all forgive her because it's Lucretia. Sure, they have things to talk about and wrongs to right, but at the end of the day it's her! You need to forgive someone like that, right? But Taako doesn't, and I don’t think he ever truly will. And I love it.

She took everything from him. Everything.

She was selfish (even if it was for an understandable reason) and she took everything from all of them but herself. Taako doesn't give a single shit if it was for an understandable reason because to him they had made that decision 20 years ago as a team. She went against the team, against her family. She took them from each other.

She took away the most important thing they all had and locked it away in their own fucking brains. Remember how frustrating it is when you can't remember where you put something important? Imagine how upset you would be if you found out that important thing was over 100 years of your life.

100 years with your family, who you got to know better than anyone in the whole universe. 100 years of love and loss and anger and joy and sickness and relaxation and any other emotion you could possibly imagine. 100 years with your twin, your other half. The years you spent after the fight was over, the years where things seemed like they'd be okay. The months you spent tirelessly looking for someone you loved until suddenly... who?

She took everything from him. Everything.

I've always thought that the others forgave her too quickly, and it's so nice to see that Justin made that character decision.

One thing I’m thinking about this morning is that one thing the novels do that the podcast doesn’t as much is show that Taako has always deep down had a distrust in Lucretia.

Like in the novels it doesn’t take much of anything for Taako to get angry with her, he demands answers from her and gets very angry when she can’t give them. He even throws it in her face when she DOES, like ‘See? That wasn’t too hard” or “Oh I guess you CAN be honest”.

And on one hand that just makes sense for his character but it’s making me feel way more emotions than it should because even if he doesn’t remember her what she did is still in there. He knows her, he really deeply knows her. He has an immediate and instilled distrust in her, and I don’t even think Taako realizes how much more defense he gets with her than anyone else. Hell, he’s more chill with the GRIM REAPER not being able to give him answers about how many times he’s DIED than when Lucretia gives them a task to do.

Imagine not remembering someone you love very deeply with everything you have. You would feel like something major is missing from your life, which Taako does. Now imagine not even remembering that someone did that to you and then needing to work for them. You would feel like something was up, but if you thought to hard about it all you might get is dull static. I feel like the confrontation in the novels is going to be even more emotional than the podcast because all of the sudden it will just make sense. It will make sense to Taako why he felt the way that he did about her and it will be so painful to know that he was right.
