I’m still on the violin size thing btw

I can just about buy adult Viktor still using a child size violin because he’s rather small, so him using the same violin he did as a child is fine, but i cannot buy a child using an adult size violin so why the FUCK did Reginald get Abigail a child size violin for her to use

#if Viktor got a new violin that removed that issue but still means Reginald got Abigail a child sized violin #the obvious answer is the writers forgot that there’s different violin sizes but I like to be annoying so I’m making a deal out of it #idk if I should tag this as spoilers because it uses Abigail’s name and i don’t think we knew that before s3 #but also it’s a small detail so? #let me know your thots

I mean you’re not wrong that the mission still isn’t very meaningful but my problem is that it’s changed from “completely senseless exile to the furthest point possible” to “extra, if not entirely necessary, layer of security to thing Reginald holds dear”. That absolutely changes things.

It may still be an unnecessary mission but the entire point originally was that there was no mission. There was absolutely no reason whatsoever, not even a small one, to send Luther to the moon. There being a mission was a lie to manipulate and exploit Luther’s loyalty so Reginald could get rid of him. The slightest purpose in Luther’s moon mission undermines that completely. It’s a kinda unnecessary mission now, not exile. There’s a reason for him being there that isn’t literally just Reginald getting rid of him.

They maybe could have gone with there being a mission, but it being far less necessary than Luther was made to believe, from the beginning. I don’t think it would have been as effective a plotline but they could have gone with that from the start and then the reveal that Abigail was there wouldn’t have ruined it. But that’s not the plotline they went for. The plotline they went for was very much about there being no purpose whatsoever in the moon mission. Luther’s character development relies heavily on him learning that while he had been loyal to his father, his father had literally just got rid of him. There being any purpose to the moon mission undermines that completely, and undermines a lot of Luther’s character development, even if it still wasn’t necessary.

I really don’t like the way it was implied that Luther actually did have a special purpose on the moon after all

Reginald sending his son to exile on the moon to do meaningless tasks for absolutely no reason because he couldn’t stand to look at him after an experimental procedure he performed on him without his consent, while exploiting said sons trust and loyalty, was important development in showing just how callous Reginald is, and was really important to Luther’s development and realisation his dad was an asshole that he should not remain blindly loyal to

Him actually having a purpose on the moon and actually being sent on a special important mission sort of validates Luther’s blind loyalty which undermines a lot of his character arc, and while it doesn’t make Reginald less callous (because there is PLENTY of shit to show that) it does put us in a weird position of an important plot point showing that it didn’t matter how loyal the umbrellas were, their father would toss them out as soon as they became inconvenient, now no longer being that and now being about him keeping his dead wife on the moon.

Maybe I’m overthinking but i do feel that twist undermines a lot of the plot, and also has no real purpose. Her body could have been put anywhere. In fact it would make more sense for it to be somewhere Reginald could visit
