Have you ever been contacted by a brand on Instagram asking you to collaborate? Or been ‘scouted’ as a brand ambassador or influencer for some obscure gym wear line?
You may get these messages daily and know to just delete them but it’s easy to get sucked into these scams, especially when so many people on instagram now offer discount codes. A great idea to make some side money right? Most likely they are scammers trying to make money out of you.
Who they target:
An ambassador suggests someone who is the face of a company, actively promoting for an agreed upon wage. By signing up to be a ‘brand ambassador’ for these companies messaging you on instagram, you are not an individual specially selected to promote their brand. Most likely you are one in a million people they have messaged to try this tactic as they target anyone and everyone. Particularly if they are commenting on your post then they are most likely using a bot in order to bulk message people similar to you.
How they work:
Most of the time these scams work by a company offering you discounted products in return for a discount code and a minimal cut of whatever you sell on, and we mean extremely menial. This means you have to buy the product upfront, a massive red flag. They often target those without the following to have a swipe up feature to buy so unless a family member or close friend takes pity you are unlikely to make any money. So ultimately you are just their buyer and they are selling you the product meaning they make a fortune out of their ‘brand ambassadors’.
These companies work by drop-shipping. That means marking up cheaply bought items by at least 400%. These would all be bought in bulk. By marking up the items they can make even more money and by preying on normal people to become ‘brand ambassadors’ they convince people they will make money. Another sign they are drop-shipping is by looking at the shipping time- over two weeks and you can be sure they’re shipping in from China.
How to spot them:
If they are commenting on your posts or sending you DM’s that are from random accounts and not legitimate business accounts then they are scammers. They normally will have an array of random accounts as they regularly get shut down. Unless you are contacted by an actual brands business account then it is most likely a scam and normally these brands will contact you in a more professional manner than a DM or a comment.
Another way to spot a scammer is to look at their own instagram account. If they are promoting that they are looking for brand ambassadors with phrases like ‘DM to collaborate’, ’DM to be a brand ambassador’ or ‘DM to be an influencer’ then they are not a real company company looking for actual customers- they are looking to make money out of brand ambassadors like you. Their engagement on their page will also be really low. They may have bought followers to build up their page and look more legitimate but a quick look at their posts will show poor quality images and hardly any likes.
So next time you question that Instagram request DM listen to your instinct and don’t fork out any money to a company, whatever they promise you and however much you want to start you Influencer career.

We want to help you today know what to post and what not to post on your account to make your page ready for those followers!

Have you ever visited someone's Instagram account just to leave quickly because their feed was riddled with #ads and #sponsoredposts? We've all been there, I believe. And don't misinterpret me. There is a distinction to be made between labeling the brands you're sporting in the picture versus using a caption to maximise brand awareness. How do you ask people to trust you if every single post is a sponsored or gifted post? People want content not 24/7 ads?
A brand needs to know that when you post their brand, people will actually pay attention. Aside from the fact that your viewers will not like a lot of advertising on your website or page, a brand wants to know that people will actually pay attention and engage when you go to publish that post or story. Since there is a lot of competition for space and features on a blogger/ influencer's page take your time creating your brand and only partner with brands you really care about. It'll be worth it!

Various decades from the past seem to be making a resurgence in recent years. From rebooted TV shows and new fashion collections, there's plenty for everyone. Vintage and vintage aesthetics are still common on Instagram, with celebrities and social media influencers editing their photos to inspire memories from the past. It's also a fantastic look for your feeds!
Here are some tips for getting the vintage / lo-fi look for your own feed:
1. Use retro-style filters.
Giving your images the desired retro feel (whether taken with a GoPro, DSLR, or smartphone) doesn't require a lot of different applications or even technological know-how. In particular, studies have shown that using filters on Instagram increases the number of Likes on your posts!

2. Experiment with grain in Lightroom.
Adding grain to your images is a great way to lend them an antique or retro feel. Select ‘Grain' from the effects menu in Lightroom. To get the exact look you like, move the slider around.
When increasing the grain on your shot, make sure to use a delicate touch. A small amount may not be visible, whereas a large amount may degrade the quality of your edit.
3. Make manual adjustments and start from scratch.
You can still edit the settings of your images manually if none of the pre-made filters fit the aesthetics you're looking for. This will allow you to be more imaginative with your editing, and you'll end up with something truly special! Check out our guide here
To achieve a vintage or retro effect, you can change the following settings:
Saturation: this controls how vivid the colours in your picture are. Desaturating your picture will help bring out the colours of the filters you're using, as well as any other edits you're making to get the retro look.
Highlight: Increases or reduces the brightness of the photograph's bright spots.
Contrast: Reducing contrast will help you achieve that lo-fi look.
Warmth: Changing the warmth of your picture will make it feel warmer or colder. Warmer images go well with the retro aesthetic.
Vignette: The vignette effect darkens and lightens the picture corners for a more dramatic look.
Pro Tip: You don’t have to manually start over with all of these steps each and every time you have to adjust your image settings. There are ways or tips to speed up and streamline your process so it’s best to try them all and figure out which ones will suit your workflow the most.
Don't be afraid to experiment with the photo's settings. And if your images are new or have vastly different compositions, manually tweaking and editing them would help you achieve the same look every time.

How To Edit In Lightroom: A Beginners Guide https://ift.tt/32u2Aox
One of the most important aspects of making a popular Instagram feed is photo editing.
You may use editing to give your photos an atmosphere to make them look more polished.
This will have a significant impact on your personal image, as you will be more easily recognized if you edit in the same way.
You can take pictures from your phone and edit them right away to save time.
The Lightroom mobile application is our favourite of all smartphone editing apps. It's the most professional choice, and it doesn't degrade the quality of your image after you've edited and saved it.

The different settings to adjust on the Lightroom App:
Light
When editing a picture, the first step is to adjust the lighting settings. The image should not be too bright or dim.
The "Light" tab allows you to change the lighting in your photo.
“Exposure” has an impact on the whole picture. The parameter is set to “0” in the original. The whole picture would be lighter if you lift the slider higher (to the right). Lowering the value to minus (moving the slider to the left) would darken the whole picture.
The “Contrast” parameter is the second most important editing parameter. It can also be found under the “Light” tab.
Contrast is the range of tones in a photograph, from the lightest to the darkest. The sharper and coarser the picture is, the stronger the contrast. The lower the contrast, the softer the image will be; a sharp drop will result in a dusty image.
The “Highlights” parameter controls how vivid the light areas are (Overexposure light).
The light areas of the picture will be blurred if they are too white and lack texture (information is lost in these pixels). And the other way around. This will help bring the photo's colour, texture, and details back to this location.
The “White” parameter changes the highlights that exist. These two parameters are usually used in tandem, because if one is changed in one direction, the other is changed in the opposite direction.
The parameters “Shadows” (for dark areas) and “Black” (for black areas) are used in the same way, but only for dark participants (for the darkest areas). They lighten or darken the photo's dark regions. These variables function in tandem and balance each other out. Changes in the shadows will drastically alter the mood of a photograph.
If you don't have your own picture editing style, this editing should suffice to make your photo more appealing.
Correction of colour
Color correction is the process of altering the colour hue of a photograph in order to create a certain visual style.
The “Tone” tab in Lightroom is where all colour correction is done.
First, you should alter the photo's average temperature. The parameters "Temperature" and "Tint" are used to do this.
The picture would be warmer if you move the “Temperature” parameter to the right (in yellow). The picture will get colder if you change the parameter to the left (in blue).
The "Tint" choice gives the picture pink and green tints.
Temperature and Tint can also be used in tandem.
The "Vibrance" and "Saturation" parameters adjust the photo's freshness and brightness.
The picture was tested by “Vibrance,” which adjusted all tints excluding the skin tone. "Saturation" changes all colours in the same way.
If your photo lacks colour, first change “Vibrance,” then “Saturation.” If your photo still lacks colour, apply a touch of “Saturation.”
If your skin turns too orange after changing the "Vibrance," reduce the "Saturation" a little.
You may change a particular colour in addition to general colour correction. Shift the colour blue to azure in your whole picture, for example.
To do so, go to the "Color" tab and press the Mix button. This is a correction of each colour using the Hue, Saturation, and Luminance parameters.
If you don't like how a certain colour was edited when editing the Vibrance or saturation, you can change it separately in the Mix tab.
We do not suggest making strong settings for your images on your own since it may seem unprofessional and degrade the quality of your picture significantly.
There are many other settings you can adjust however for the beginner these are the easiest and most critical settings to adjust.

1) SNAPSEED
Snapseed is a completely free editing app and is like the free version of photoshop for your photos. Maybe you want to get rid of an object or blur a part of your photo. Snapseed works well for professional photographers looking for an easy program to make quick/small edits but they may find that Lightroom is much less restrictive in terms of colour editing tools.
2) ADOBE LIGHTROOM
Another free app where you can use presets to edit your photos to your perfect aesthetic theme to your Instagram posts. You can adjust the temperature, white balance, saturation, and exposure as well as individual colours. This is the best app to edit the colours in your photos.
You also have much more control over light levels as well. You can easily raise midtones, highlights or shadows as well as with specific colour channels.
3) FACETUNE
This can be a life saver when using props, for instance let's say you're using a cup as a prop but when you go to edit your photo is quite obviously empty... you can easily add that joe in by sketching inside that cup.
It can also make things shine more, ie accessories or your eyes if the lighting has made them a little yellow. You can use whiten on the background to give it a super cool tone as well if you're going for that white aesthetic.
It is a useful tool for makeup artists too who might not have the professional lighting required to show off their skills appropriately (highlight and eyeshadow just doesn't look as bright on camera as in person).
It's easy to keep editing and editing because of insecurities however so please read this VOX article about overediting.
4) UNUM
While this isn't necessarily an editing app, UNUM does help massively in planning your instagram feed so that it makes sense and is aesthetically pleasing. This is especially helpful at planning out sponsorships or other content so that they are best spread out.
