I’m going to start saying that if Feyre was a man that everyone would like her and she wouldn’t receive any criticism since that dense argument works for n/esta. all the hills you want to die on, why that? even with tamlin, who is one of the most hated characters.. or if not the most hated, who lashes out, arrogant, and verbally abuse feyre just the same. Plus the plenty of hate ALL the male characters in acotar get. To be honest, if n/esta was a brother, calling his sister an animal for having sex, calling them disgusting, threatening to slit her throat, telling her that everyone one would forget her, stealing money, living off of her, blaming things on her. Letting her HUNT while he sat at home…. He would be much more hated and even that’s not fair.

How come people can relate to n/esta on a personal level and if you talk bad about her you are “dismissing the trauma” of thousands of people. But when people say they relate to Feyre because they have a “nesta” in their life it’s not taken seriously??? People do not have to like a character, it’s so fucking simple.

Misogyny isn’t a big word to just toss around to strangers…

Trying to say an author wrote something, passing it off as official and then refusing to take responsibility, is a literal crime.

I'm going to go through and clear up some confusion, for people who want to know what actually happened.

Debunking the 'Gwynriel Hints' because... there are none.

Azriel and Gwyn did not have an 'hour long' conversation. In fact, when Azriel saw Gwyn in the training yard, he actively tried to avoid speaking to her. But she spotted him so he decided to be polite and say hello, he still considers running away at this point. When Gwyn asks if he can sing, he says yes, but then leaves because he doesn't want to elaborate or talk to her about it.

Azriel didn't tell Clotho to give the necklace to Gwyn. He specifically told her "give it to one of the priestesses." and Clotho said "I'll give it to Gwyneth, tell her a friend left it." to which Azriel thinks, 'he wouldn't go so far as to call Gwyn a friend,' and responds with "Fine, whatever." [So romantic 🤧]

Gwyn doesn't have the necklace. The Azriel chapter takes place on Solstice, before the Blood Rite, and Gwyn isn't seen with it and she doesn't even mention it. Clotho still has the necklace, she's either waiting for Azriel to come and collect it, kept it for herself, or gave it to someone else.

Now, onto the Elriel hints in this scene.

Elriel is the main focus of this chapter, as their scene takes up around 90% of it.

Azriel is still in the front room, when Elain comes down to place the present she got him there. They run into each other and admit they got each other presents.

Azriel got Elain a stained glass rose pendant, a literal representation of Elain. And Elain got Azriel a pair of earbuds, which have been theorised about being linked to her visions, passing them off as needed for living with Nesta and Cassian.

Elain asks Azriel to put the necklace on her and he does, but the close proximity and skin-on-skin action leads the two of them to have a moment. Elain becoming aroused and Azriel admitting he's fantasised about her.

Fantasies aren't 'toxic' btw, they're a natural reaction to finding someone attractive, and that's what this is... mutual attraction.

This leads to the two of them having an almost kiss, Azriel refuses to kiss Elain until he has her consent, to which she gives him by saying "yes." The line 'offer and permission' then follows, debunking the 'Azriel is toxic' mindset that Gwynriels diagnosed him with.

Rhysand notices and calls Azriel away, Azriel apologises, says it was a mistake, to which Elain is heartbroken, thinking he was rejecting her and gives back the necklace, a parallel to the ring Graysen gave her. Elain leaves and Azriel goes to see Rhys.

Rhys mentions that if Lucien had discovered them, he could invoke a Blood Duel (an Autumn Court tradition) where he and Azriel would fight to the death over Elain. Azriel would win, as mentioned by the text itself but Rhys worries Beron would then start a war, and with the previous war being devastating Rhys doesn't want that.

You have to remember Feyre is still pregnant here, Rhys is trying to protect her and their child, along with their court. A war would see Velaris and The Night Court fall.

Rhys isn't against Elain and Azriel, he's against a war with Autumn. He knows Elain hasn't broken the bond, and while it's still active Beron can still intervene and call for a Duel.

You can ship Gwynriel all you want, but it has no canon backing to it... and with the confirmation of Elain being the next protagonist and Azriel being featured in the next book? (Confirmed by Sarah J. Maas in 3 seperate interviews) It's not happening.

For anyone who doesn't know what's going on in Canada right now (which, let's be real, is probably everyone who's not in Canada):

This week, a mass grave was discovered at a former Indian Residential School, in Kamloops, BC. The grave contained the bodies of 215 Indigenous children.

For people outside of North America, residential schools were places that Indigenous children were sent to, to have their language and culture stripped away from them. They were literally stolen from their families, and scattered across Canada, to ensure that they would be surrounded by children who didn't speak their language. They were given Christian names and forced to speak English. They were horrendously abused, and the survivors have been traumatized.

Hundreds of children never returned. The assumption has always been that they died. This has now been confirmed.

The school in Kamloops closed in 1978. They are now trying to identify bodies to inform family members. The last residential school closed in the 1990s. There is growing demand to search all of them, but the government hasn't responded to that, as of yet. Ottawa JUST gave in to pressure to fly the Canada flag at half mast. They weren't even going to do that.

This is the reality if anti-Indigenous racism in Canada. The residential schools may be closed, but that hasn't stopped the abduction of Indigenous children, let alone the hundreds of missing and murdered Indigenous women.

I’ve seen a lot of criticism over ACOSF since it was published — unsurprising because people were complaining well before it was out. I’ll be the first to admit that it was not the book I hoped for. The plot was weak and the character development was lacking, and I’ve learned to accept it.

One criticism I cannot get on board with is the complaints that the IC handles Nesta’s substance abuse. Specifically, these criticisms read as entirely opinion based; it’s painfully clear that the “critics” have little to no experience or knowledge on substance abuse. I have a professional understanding of substance abuse and how it relates to mental health, but I’m going to speak from personal experience here because it’s far more relevant.

SO. Let’s get to it then. People want to shit on the IC for how they reacted to Nesta’s drinking. So, so many complaints. Rhys is mean. Feyre is abusing her sister. They “gentrified” her apartment. They made her go to the house of wind. Cassian had no idea how to handle Nesta. Amren was vicious and lashed out. How dare they cut Nesta off like that. The list goes on and on.

Everyone is so caught up on complaining about how SJM dropped the ball with the character dynamics that they’ve missed the key point:

This is what substance abuse looks like. Their reactions, feelings and behaviors are incredibly realistic.

I prefer to keep my personal experiences to myself, but I’ll share a bit. I grew up with a parental figure who was an alcoholic (and recreational drug user). I watched one of my best friends turn into a drug addict as teen/young adult — there was a time where I saw her and didn’t even recognize her because of how sickly she looked. I slowly lost touch with other friends as they took a nose dive into addiction. My other friend’s (now ex) husband was also addicted to drugs. I also have friends who struggle with mental health issues and self-medicate with drugs/alcohol because they just can’t cope.

I’ve literally seen it all. Done the “interventions”. Sat through family weekend at rehab. Been stolen from. Found someone unconscious in their car (they survived). Found one of their toddlers wandering down the street unattended while my friends husband was high (DISCLOSURE: the little one was safe and the parent now cannot have visits unless they are supervised). I’ve enabled some of them financially and emotionally. I came to terms with the deaths via overdose years after I lost touch with friends. This is just the mild stuff, I won’t even touch on some of the behaviors that ensued from months/years of drugs and alcohol.

Why am I saying this, and how does it relate to ACOSF?

The emotional toll substance abuse takes on individuals and their loved ones is unbelievable. There is heartbreak, fighting, enabling, co-dependence, financial burdens, and emotionally charged interactions like you wouldn’t believe. What SJM portrayed with the IC and Nesta was mild to moderate dysfunction. It was not abuse.

Fighting over how to handle a loved one who abused alcohol and has risky behaviors as a result?? - this is a normal reaction to stress. This is not an example of controlling behavior.

Refusing to continue making rent payments? This is an excellent example of what it looks like to stop enabling someone. It was not an example of abuse.

Relocating someone who is actively using and lives in their own filth? This is a way of promoting safety and reducing the chance of future relapses. This is not an example of controlling behavior and it is not abusive.

Ganging up on someone and “forcing” them to temporarily relocate to a secure living environment? This is also known as an intervention. There is no equivalent to rehab/inpatient psych in ACOTAR, so sending Nesta to the house and having her work with the priestesses is an acceptable alternative (it’s fantasy after all).

Making Nesta choose between Illyria or living at the house to train/work? This sounds a lot like the typical deal of “You’re drug use is out of control and *insert unsafe or illegal behaviors* cannot be ignored. If you agree to seek treatment, you will not be involuntarily committed/incarcerated”. It’s a depressing reality.

Telling a loved one to shape up or that they will be forced to leave (aka go to the mortal realm)? Hitting rock bottom is heartbreaking for everyone. It’s hard to stop enabling and to stop being enabled. Loved ones can’t force you to change, and you can’t force them to watch you destroy yourself. This is setting boundaries and it is not abusive.

You’ve been sober for months now but everyone still treats you like you’re a train wreck? It probably took a long time for loved ones to lose trust, and it takes a long time to earn it back. It’s sad and frustrating to everyone involved; developing trust and redefining boundaries is hard. This is not an example of being cruel and uncaring.

Substance abuse is scary, and it takes an incredible toll on everyone involved. Consider this: you’re driving to a loved one’s home because you’re scared that you haven’t heard from them. It’s terrifying to wonder if this will finally be the day you find them dead in their living room. I truly believe the majority of the IC acted with good intentions, and I think ALL of their interactions and behaviors were accurate depictions.

I hope this was enlightening and helpful to anyone in the fandom who do not have experience with substance abuse. Please recognize that it is a blessing if you could not relate to or understand portion of acofs.

Why is it that I see a lot of “Meet the Inner Circle” reels, TikToks, etc that include Mor, Amren, Cassian, Azriel, Feyre Rhys and NESTA and Elain is no where to be seen??? Like last I checked Nesta distanced herself from the Inner Circle until the end of ACOSF and Elain has BEEN integrated with them. Like she goes to all the court dinners, sees them all on the regular etc. while Nesta was avoiding everyone???

So I have this theory that Mor is going to be Rhys’s heir and will be the next High Lady of Night Court.

Now, this isn’t a post suggesting that Rhys and Feyre will die at any point of the series, or that Nyx will not be a ruler. However, there are many things that I think lead up to Mor becoming High Lady regardless.

First of all, I would like to point out that Mor’s power is mentioned throughout the series, and yet we never see it. She was able to walk away from a fight with Amren unscathed, and the only other person mentioned with that level of power was Rhys

The thing is, Rhys only interrupted Amren. Mor got into a brawl with her and walked away.

Another interesting mention of her power was also in ACOMAF

I found it really interesting that you could smell Mor’s power the same way you could smell a High Lord’s heir. Also, Mor mentioned that her power, when awoken, shook the whole mountain. This is something only two other people in the books have had the power to do: Rhys and Nesta. Another interesting snippet:

I find it interesting that Rhys didn’t call Feyre a High Lady, but something similar. I’m also thinking that while Feyre is High Lady of the Night Court, she still is only similar to what the High Ladies that were mentioned in this excerpt were. She was chosen by RHYS, while all other High Lords were born with their power and chosen by their Courts. A High Lady would be something of that caliber. Another thing I found interesting is that Nyx, when born, didn’t have that insane power that Rhys had. Also, in ACOSF, Cassian said that he knew Rhys wouldn’t care if the baby wasn’t his heir. I found that super interesting that the situation even came up in his mind, unless Nyx won’t actually be the next High Lord of Night Court.

This is where my theory gets interesting and it has to do with the possibility of Rhys and Feyre becoming High King and Queen of Prythian. Something that’s bothered me is that Feyre’s power comes as a courtesy of Rhys, that she technically is a part of all courts. There isn’t really a High Lady regnant, just a High Lady who shares the power with her husband. However, it would be super interesting if they both came into the power of High King and Queen on their own. And if Rhys and Feyre are High King and Queen, then they can no longer be High Lord and Lady of the Night Court. But you know who can be? Mor. She has a power that’s been compared to that of a High Lord, and is part of the bloodline that ruled over Night Court before Rhy’s branch of the family inherited. Not to mention on ACOFAS (which is supposed to set up the next leg of the series) Mor was reminiscing about how Feyre was now occupying the position that she used to be in.

Also want to note that I don’t think Rhys will go imperialist style and conquer all of Prythian to crown himself and Feyre monarchs. I think that their coronation would look similar to that of Merida’s father in Brave; where the lords of the land rallied behind their leader against a common enemy and then decided that unity was in all of their best interests, so they crown the people who rallied them all time and time again their King and Queen. I also don’t think the High Lords will no longer have jurisdiction/be able to rule. They would have a function similar to that of governors in the United States while Rhys and Feyre would have a role similar to the President.

Finally, I want to point out that the Morrigan is a figure in Arthurian legends. While I don’t think she’s going to take the same role within Arthurian legends, I think Rhys and Feyre’s next journey will be linked to Mor’s and that it will have be influenced by Arthurian legend.

Some of y’all need to remember that the inner circle have known each other for 500+ years. Centuries. I’m sure they have argued, ignored, fought, cried, and literally made up.. they are family that runs a court. Azriel, Cassian, and Rhysand call each other brothers. Cassian calls Morrigan his sister.

Cassian complimenting and thinking highly of his OWN family should not be a big deal.

The inner circle teasing cassian is not them talking bad about him. Especially since he teases and talks about them back.

The bonus chapters took place months before the end of the book and you see no shift in Rhysand and Azriel relationship. Azriel was right there with Rhysand when Feyre was giving birth. He went to spy and get Eris. Azriel was holding Nyx. Just finish or read the book..??

The “siblings can fight and disagree” or “you must not have siblings if you think don’t they fight” argument only work for some characters I see. Don’t be hypocritical
