Alex thought that getting an off-campus apartment was the smart option. At least he wouldn't have to share a bedroom with someone. Sure, the kitchen was a little small and the landlord was a little weird and sparkly, but his roommate Willie was nice. And cute. And amused whenever he got flustered and awkward when they flirted with him. But it was fine.

Until the knives started missing. Not the spoons. Not the forks. Not the spork Reggie got him as a housewarming present. Just the knives.

I once had a landlord offhandedly mention that his mother had set this house on fire before. He and his wife lived on the first floor, and i rented the third.

Apparently his mom didn’t like his wife. So she set their house on fire. The house i was living in.

He assured me that everything was fine now and that this was years ago, just kinda laughed, smiled, and said ‘You know how moms are’

Oh dear...

Alex is attending one of the most prestigious magic academies in the country, on the orders of his parents of course. Even though Laiz Fier Academy reviles even the name of the only type of magic he's ever been good at. His parents swore he'd find another specialty here, and he'd let himself believe them, like the idiot he is. He's scraping by in classes. Barely. At least he's managed to make a couple of friends and figure out how to sneak into the library stacks to find books that will actually help him hone his skills.

However, Alex realizes now there's a reason why it's not recommended to do your first summoning alone. Because, while he does manage to summon a demon, it doesn't exactly end up in the silvery urn he'd laid in the center of the pentagram.

So now he has a talking, demonic Furby to hide. One that, despite its too-wide eyes and disconcertingly smooth voice, Alex thinks he might be developing feelings for.

Wolf in Fair Isle Sweaters

Just because Willie was a Wolf, didn't mean he didn't like cozy things. Sure, wolves had a reputation for living rough, luring innocent girls in red hoods to their doom, and eating grandmas. But Willie was more of a 'cozy sweaters and curl up by the fire and bake muffins with your grandma' kind of Wolf.

Sadly, the townsfolk didn't see it that way. Which meant the only way to get cozy was to break into the town's yarn shop, steal a bunch of stuff, and hope he could learn how to knit from the books he'd seen in the window.

He hadn't expected the shop keeper to still be there when he broke in, though.
