This is where we say farewell.

And the wind, it feels a little colder now.

It really is hard to believe that the Splatoon 1 servers (along with the rest of the Wii U/3DS library) are shut down now. It's such a weird feeling, to say the least.

I have no idea where I would be if I never got into Splatoon 1 back then. It's done so much for me. Got me interested in a genre I had little to no interest in before, helped me improve my art, met so many great people who are mutuals and friends, hell I even got into making OCs, which I've never really done/had much interest in doing before.

Plus just being within the fandom during its lifetime, I've said it before and I'll say it again, it was one of those "You've had to have been there" things. It was just an amazing experience all around.

If you told me over a decade ago that this series would do all that for me, I would probably think you're crazy.

And at the very least, there's Pretendo, so the servers aren't truly gone, just not officially supported by Nintendo anymore. I'll keep an eye on it, in case I ever feel like trying it out for myself.

But for the time being, thank you so much Splatoon 1.

Session 8: Well, the deed is done. I have now officially used every single weapon at least once in Splatoon 1. I'm glad I could actually do that before the servers went down. Though, for some weapons, it served as a reminder as to why I didn't really touch them in the first place. ^^'

Though my initial plan was to spread things out a bit more over the past few months (starting back in January), but of course my procrastination gets the better of me (for better or worse). But at least I know for sure I got it all done now.

Now I can just use whatever weapon I want to use before the servers go down. Just a little over a day left...

Session 7: Y'know, I know part of it is my fault for the time I decide to go on, but I wasn't planning on playing on freaking Blackbelly Skatepark the most in the final stretch of the server's life! And it's a wee bit frustrating because 1. It has a single player stage in Octo Valley AND it's in Splatoon 2, so it's not like I can't see it elsewhere once the servers are down! And 2. It's one of my least favorite stages in the entire series! With exceptions to the aesthetic of the stage and the Ink Mine trick I mentioned a few days ago.

But anyways, that's the last full session of this whole thing. The next and final one is half a session (3 weapons). Then...I'll be done with all the weapons. The end is truly in sight...

Sooooo safe to say that Off The Hook is the clear winner with the unique special Splatfest outfits? 😅

I mean, they look amazing, and another case of using concept art is great! I hope they do more of that in the future, and not leave it in the “what could have been” category that tends to happen a lot.

Session 6: Man, there were D/Cs and people not really playing galore in this session! I mean my god! And I know I didn't play that well with some weapons myself, due to not being that used to them, but at least I was trying, man!

And one strange match at Kelp Dome, where there was a hacker on the enemy team (y'know, where they inked all of the ground at once and left the spawn before the match began), and it seemed strange that after a point, they were letting us actually ink around and fight. At first, I thought they were gonna pull the rug out from under us at the last second for the automatic win, but it seemed like they D/C'd at some point during the match. I mean, hell, I'll take it!

Now there's only 2 sessions left before I finish up all the weapons! Almost there!

Session 5: Nothing too crazy to note. Just had to deal with using a bunch of long range weapons.

And god I miss the original Mahi-Mahi...
