how homoerotic does your friendship need to be to convince an entire audience that your characters are in love, and then subsequently the showrunner too?

how long do you think yaz and 13 spent together in real time in their universe?
and additionally, how old do you think yaz was by the end of their adventures?

it’s giving pseudo-queerbait vibes
hang on a sec.
so, there was a bbc radio interview like a few days before the power of the doctor was going to air, where mandip got asked if yaz gets to express her feelings for the doctor before it’s too late and jodie (before letting mandip say anything) interjects with “whoooo knows, before she gives away any spoilers”
sooo what were they talking about? bc no explicit confessions of any sort that we thought were gonna happen, took place. unless it was just meant to be like egging on the suspense?
does anyone else remember this ?!

deeply disappointed but not that unsurprised to find that all the gay of thasmin came from Jodie and Mandip’s acting and the script couldn’t be more dry and acting like they’re strangers rather than pseudo-lovers

Coupla questions for everyone:
First off, how do you personally interpret 13's use of the phrase "being with you" in this scene?
And secondly, do you believe Chris Chibnall intentionally wrote it that way so that we the audience would draw our own conclusions on it?

i know its not explicitly canon but the concept of the doctor and yaz sharing a room/bed hurts so much like.
imagine being best friends with someone who refuses to share anything with you, that you maybe have romantic feelings for, and you still share a bed despite knowing its probably a bad idea. like… being closeted your whole life, struggling with the fact that you like other girls, probably afraid to have sleepovers with female friends.
but with this person its different, you just want that extra bit of contact and familiarity with her, that vulnerability when she cant show it in any other way, which she offers to you willingly one day and you take it, after being separated for months not even knowing if she was alive, you take it. you dont care if this maybe means more than you want it to, but you take it. it cant hurt too much if only one of you is pining after the other, right?
and maybe you read into it too much when she always finds her way to your side of the bed in her sleep, often waking with your limbs tangled together, but there’s no way it means anything. she doesnt like physical touch very much under any other circumstances, but it doesnt mean anything.
imagine already being in the crisis of falling in love with someone you know you shouldnt love and then throwing bed sharing into the mix. just the show of affection of it all. someone who doesnt like to be open about literally anything letting you see her in such a state, exist with her in such a state. its a whole different level of trust that as far as im aware, no companion has gotten before.

power of the doctor was such an incredible episode for yaz. she truly is the hero of the story, and it was so incredible to watch her step into the limelight like that. for so long we’ve seen how much yaz needs to doctor, but for the first time we really got to see the doctor needing yaz. she saved the doctor and the entire universe multiple times, and i’m so so proud of her.
and after a while trying to process the ending, i think i understand it more now. we saw how desperate yaz was for the doctor in revolution of the daleks, to the point that it was almost unhealthy. then we get to see her travelling the world in survivors of the flux, stronger than she was last time but still missing the doctor awfully. and then we get this, yaz taking her nani’s advice, taking herself away before the inevitable happens. “courage is knowing something will hurt and doing it anyway”.
she’s not clara, or rose, there was never going to be a chance (in my mind at least) that she would want to travel with another doctor, her doctor was the only one she’d ever want to be with, so she knows that this regeneration has to be the end of the journey for her. and even in that moment, when her heart is breaking, she still puts the doctor first. she doesn’t say goodbye, even though it inevitably will be, because she knows how much that hurts the doctor, choosing instead to leave their story on an end note of hope and acceptance. she could’ve argued and fought and begged to stay, but she didn’t, she knew what both her and the doctor needed in that moment, and she walked away with dignity and bravery. i think more than anything this shows her character’s maturity, how far she’s come since the beginning. she can’t have her doctor anymore, and even though she doesn’t want it to end, she knows she doesn’t get a say in that anymore. she has to learn to live without the doctor, and she’s strong enough to know that she will.
and the wonderful thing is that she still achieved so much since she first stepped into that tardis. she wanted to do more with her life and she ended up saving the universe and helping so many people. she wanted to see more of the universe and she’s had so many adventures. she wanted more time with the doctor, and she got that, even if it ended in heartbreak. at one point, she never believed she’d amount to anything more than a depressed teenager that she thought no one cared about, but she did, she survived, and she got to hear the woman she fell in love with call her one of the greatest people she’s ever known. she’s made lifelong friends in ryan, graham and dan, something she never thought she’d have. she’s no longer trapped, and she’s no longer alone.
i’ll never stop being grateful that she exists and i got to watch her grow and evolve as a character. yasmin khan, i hope one day i can be as brave as you are <3

point is why did the "doctor kisses all their companions" rule live until there was a possibility that said kiss would mean them being in a gay relationship. why did they suddenly decide they never wanted to be that close to anyone again. like yeah obviously it's fine and understandable for the character to not want to have to lose someone again but why did the show choose this instance to make her resist love and die alone and unkissed when it was a wlw story instead of a straight one.

Okay but like Thirteen literally fought off regenerating so she could get ice cream. imagine this blonde lady comes stumbling out of a phone booth into your ice cream shop and her hands are kind of glowing and the woman she's with is crying. like what would you do.

Pissing off the Thasmin shippers was like the worst possible decision Chibnall could've done given that so many fans had stopped watching his era that Thassies made up about 90% of the people still watching.
