He said, “I only complain of my suffering and my grief to Allah , and I know from Allah what you know not.”

Dr. Mustafa Mahmud: Whoever reads history…

Whoever reads history, depression never enters his heart, and he will see that the worldly life is just days that Allah circulates among people: the rich become poor, and the poor turn around and become rich. The weak ones of yesterday are today’s strong ones, and the rulers of yesterday are today’s homeless. The judges become defendants. The victors become losers. The universe goes around and life does not stop, and the events don’t stop happening, and the people exchange their positions, and no sadness continues, and no happiness lasts. ~Dr. Mustafa Mahmud, may Allah have mercy on him.

Everything in this life is a test. Allah says in the Qur’an: “It is He who created death and life in order to test you, which of you are best in deeds. And He is the Exalted in Might, Oft-Forgiving.” (67:2)

God, glory to Him, wanted to take among the children of Adam prophets, messengers, friends and martyrs, loved by Him and loving toward Him. Therefore He withdrew Himself from them to let them deal with His enemies on their own, in this way testing them. When they preferred Him and strove with their souls and wealth in His way, they earned His love and approval and closeness to Him, which would have been impossible to earn without this process [of testing].

The state of Ibadah (true worship of God) is a feeling of smallness that develops through making the heart appreciate the greatness of the One Who is worshiped.

The sins that are punished most quickly are the ones that are not due to overwhelming desire, but are an act of obstinacy and rebellion [against God].

The fastest way to heal a broken heart is to find someone better to love, and love more. Know that sometimes heartbreak happens just to push you to God.

Our problem is we compare God to a human being. If I wrong a person again and again, eventually he gets tired of forgiving. God never tires.

People don’t need to be condemned. People need hope. People need to believe that they matter to God. That no matter how far they’ve fallen or strayed, He always awaits their return.
