I'm a sucker for magic healing that *hurts*. I always think of it as feeling like getting hurt in *reverse*, so it's just as painful as getting hurt in the first place was. The more severe the wound, the more exhausted the patient is afterwards, and if the healer used their own magic rather than a potion of some kind, now they're tired too. Biggest one is revival magic, especially when used on subjects that were torn apart or have been dead for so long that they have to regenerate from bones. When the magic is done, they're cold and scared, not sure where they are or what's happening, just that something just caused them the worst pain they've ever felt. Maybe they're even scared that someone will hurt them again? They flinch away from whoever resurrected them, their first words after their death (whenever it was) are "please...no more!"

This is how magical healing should always be done, imho

That thing where a character who's been coming down with something all day finally gets home and is too exhausted and ill to pretend they're not, and the caretaker knows immediately when they arrive that something's wrong, taking in their pale face and constant shivers, the bright red patches on their cheeks, the poor thing just looks so tired and they gently usher them onto the couch with hurried inquiries of what happened? Are you okay? You look terrible, can I bring you anything? and at first the whumpee doesn't even respond, just rests their head on the caretaker's shoulder and closes their eyes for a moment.

a Concept™️: sick characters who hide their illness not because they’re ashamed or embarrassed, but because that’s literally the only way they know how to deal with it. before, there wasn’t time, energy, resources to just Be Sick. and they just can’t turn off that instinct in their head that says that sickness just isn’t an option.

so when caretaker asks them why they didn’t tell them they were sick, they turn big, confused, feverish eyes toward them and whisper “I…I can do that? tell you? that’s okay?”

and the only sound you hear is caretaker’s heart shattering as they throw their arms around whumpee and hold them tight.

Word ‘hemorrhage’, but blood is gold. It’s gold, trust me I’m an artist! And who needs clothes?! Not me.

Solar terrians’ blood turns liquid gold colour in a second it contacts sunlight (ultraviolet). Inside their bodies it’s normal red. Lunar terrians get the same but in silver hue. That’s how they get their names.

Not a real gold/silver though, like our blood is not an iron.
