Thank yall so much for your love and support, happy reading ❤❤❤❤

writer meme: Where Are They Now?
Rules: Send me an ask with a title of my fics and a timeframe (6mos, 2yrs etc) and I will tell you where the characters are and what they are doing at that point in the future!
If I am feeling inspired I might write a ficlet for it. Note that A Where Are They Now? snapshot is not necessarily the same as a sequel – sequels generally require plot, and this doesn’t.
Feel free to reblog and tag all your writer friends! Or at least the writer friends that you’re annoyed with at the moment!

A Lovely Man
Tumblr media
Hwang Jun-Ho x Reader
Requested: Nope
Word Count: 2k
Warnings: Grief, betrayal, sadness, angst, fluff
Author’s Note: I wrote this shit in a day. Ay.
~
Beloved son, brother, and fiance. That's what Jun-Ho's tombstone read.
It was a closed casket, the police said that the body was too water-bloated to be put on display. Since you weren't married yet, the funeral wasn't up to you. That responsibility fell to In-Ho, Jun-Ho's brother.
You were too exhausted to argue. You didn't say that he wanted to be cremated, or that he wanted them to plant a tree over his grave. You couldn't. All you could do was just be grateful that they at least included fiance on the headstone. Because, with the way your life was going, all you would ever be is Jun-Ho's fiancee.
One step down from spouse. God, you wished this all happened after the wedding. You wish that he could've been your husband before all this. Instead of fiance on his gravestone, it could've said husband, or even father.
But you didn't get that chance.
The medical examiner said that the cause of death was indeterminate, that he could've just taken one last bachelor vacation before your wedding, or he could've had a psychic break. They don't know what he was doing in the ocean, all they knew was that a fishing boat found his body in the ocean, water filling the lungs and severe trauma to his shoulder.
You didn't know what to say. All you knew was a strange doctor was standing in front of a disfigured, boney body that you couldn't even recognize, asking you to sign a paper saying that it was the love of your life.
You got countless meals delivered to you, casserole, soup, noodles, all the things you didn't want. You and Jun-Ho would end every day watching American dramas, eating ramen and cake. He loved cake, but no one gives chocolate cake to a widow.
When you make your weekly trip to the store for toilet paper or cake or toothpaste, anyone who sees you says one of two things "I'm so sorry for your loss" or "hey, (y/n), how's Jun-Ho doing?" You hated both of them. You're getting fucking shampoo, now is not the time for grief, and now is not the time to explain that your fiance is dead. All you want is cake.
Crying is useless, talking about it is useless. It's just something that exists. You couldn't change what was happening, and you couldn't change Jun-Ho. Every day when you woke up on the two mattresses pushed together on the ground you had to remind yourself that he was dead.
Jun-ho was dead. Your fiance was dead. It became a mantra that you would mutter to yourself, and it would mostly make people stay away from you at the supermarket.
You would probably break down, jump into the ground next to the casket being lowered, have a panic attack, try to kill yourself. All of these things would happen in the coming weeks.
You really fucking wish that everybody wouldn't wear black to the funeral. Jun-Ho's favorite colors were black, and, funnily enough, yellow. You called him your little bumblebee.
No one should wear his favorite color at his funeral. It was like they were burying the last of his personality and interests into the ground with him.
Some distant relative who didn't know Jun-Ho was engaged would probably yell at you if you didn't wear black, so you did.
A semi-nice dress that fell midway down your calves, with one of Jun-Ho's soft black jackets over your shoulder. You wore pantyhose, one of the fun ones, with butterfly rhinestones on the back. Jun-Ho loved them. Whenever you worse them to one of his events he would always call him your secret weapon. You would always laugh and tell him to pay attention, you wished that you didn't tease him now.
You wore thick "soccer mom" sunglasses, to cover your eyes, and your hair was untouched since you woke up a complete and total mess.
Your knee was bouncing like crazy as you sat in the front row of the funeral procession.
"Hey, are you ok?" In-Ho placed his hand on your knee.
You nodded, not saying anything and trying not to cause a fight. You never really liked In-Ho, to you he seemed conceited. He didn't really care about anyone or anything else, and you once watched him kill a rat that had snuck into your and Jun-Ho's apartment.
He lost his brother too, and you didn't want to fight. You didn't want to tell him that Jun-Ho's death could've been because he went looking for him, you couldn't do that. It was easy to fight with people, it's less easy to grieve at a funeral.
A procession of people were coming towards you, asking you questions and giving you apologies, asking you if you needed anything. Of course, you needed something, your fucking fiance back.
"He was such a good soul" "wonderful, simply wonderful" "I was his 11th-grade biology teacher, I always knew he had potential" "I made you some soup, I'll stop by and give it to you later" "He was such a lovely man."
Was. He was a lovely man. He wasn't anymore. He wasn't your Jun-Ho who learned English from watching a decade worth of the Walking Dead, he wasn't your Jun-Ho whose police chief would call you to drive him home after he had poured his heart and soul away to work on a case, he wasn't your Jun-Ho anymore. He was just a shell without a soul inside of it.
Thank god you were wearing your sunglasses. You reached up and wiped your hand underneath them. "Thanks."
The ceremony was heartbreaking. Not that it was particularly sad, just that it was boring and nothing like what Jun-Ho would've wanted.
People that you had never even heard him mention spoke. The official police portrait that he hated was the photo on display. The commanding officer from his military service when he was 19 that Jun-Ho still complained about a decade later spoke about how strong he was.
If Jun-Ho was here he would've left early, you chuckle to yourself thinking about how instead a part of him never gets to leave.
The part that pissed you off the most was In-Ho's speech. He talked about what an honor it was for him to be Jun-Ho's big brother, when in reality before half a decade ago all he did was ask for money whenever he would visit.
All you wanted to go was go home. In-Ho tapped on your shoulder, which snapped you out of your trance and you went to give your speech.
"I don't know what to say. I don't really believe that he's dead. We were supposed to get married. But, uh, that's not gonna happen now. So, I don't really know what to do anymore. Sorry." Everyone in the crowd was crying and looking at you with pity, even though you didn't say anything that they didn't know.
This funeral is fucking embarrassing.
You didn't realize when it was over, nothing happened, some guy you'd never met just kind of stopped talking and everyone stood up. You didn't stand up. You just stared straight at the boring casket a few feet in front of you. You couldn't even remember if you threw a rose in the grave.
Some of his friends were talking about going out to eat, and one of them looked like they were about to ask you to come, but another caught his arm. One of Jun-Ho's closest friends. He knew that you wouldn't go, and he knew that asking you would only give you more anxiety.
All you wanted to do was go home, and hold Jun-Ho, but you couldn't do that.
You got in your car and drove home.
When you walked in the door you immediately took off your dress, sunglasses, shoes, and everything else uncomfortable. Now was the time to let yourself cry.
You walked towards the refrigerator, to get a piece of chocolate cake. But when you opened the door you found nothing inside.
Arms wrapped around your waist. "I ate the cake."
"You shouldn't be here."
"But I am."
"They could've seen you."
"They're busy with the funeral, besides, it's a big building."
"But-"
"Honey, you just went to my funeral. You've had a long day, forgive me for wanting to see my fiancee."
You twirled around, "fine, but if you actually get killed I'm gonna be so pissed off."
He laughed and kissed your forehead, you muttered "I won't come to the next funeral."
He doesn't laugh with this one, just smiles and kisses the tip of your nose instead.
"God, it was horrible." You rocked in his arms, "I gave the worst speech ever."
"I'm sure there have been worse speeches." He said, rocking with you and kissing the top of your head.
"I said I don't know twice." You mumbled into his chest.
"That's not too bad."
"It was like 15 seconds." You said, looking up from his chest.
"Okay, so that's a little bit worse." He chuckled, and you could feel the rumbling of his chest.
You knew everything that happened. About In-Ho, about the game, about all of it. What they In-Ho didn't know was that he had survived the fall.
He was wearing a bulletproof vest, and when he fell off the cliff he found a cave to swim into. He hid for hours, and while he was underwater he called you and told you everything, just in case. You didn't know how the wifi worked, and you didn't know how he survived, but you didn't care. He was alive.
Eventually, a police ship disguised as a fish boat came to rescue him and he pretended to be a body, just in case they were watching, which they always were.
He was immediately rushed into witness protection. Right now he was hiding out briefly in a town just outside of Seoul, but in a week or two, he would be shipped out into a farm town on Hokkaido.
You just had a few days back together, until you had no idea if or when you were going to see him again.
He noticed you looking at him wistfully and kissed your lips to distract you.
"Come with me." That snapped you out of your trance.
"What?"
"Come" kiss "with" kiss "me."
"What are we gonna do? Fake another death," he chuckled a bit, but you could tell he was completely serious. He wouldn't joke, not about this.
"Maybe, we can say you killed yourself, or maybe that you decided you needed a break and went back home."
"No one will believe me, they'll find me, besides, I don't even speak Japanese."
He stroked your cheek gently. "It's fine, you've been watching anime without the dubbs for years."
"That's what you got from that conversation. Baby, watching anime is nothing like moving to a different country." You say, warming up to the idea.
"I'll be there for you honey, I promise, I'm not going to let anyone hurt you." He pauses, "besides, me and the chief have been talking, he thinks that if they think you know something, they'll kill you anyways, this might be the only option."
He kisses your forehead again, "If it's between me being alone, and us being together, I think this may be the better option." You exclaim.
"If it's the only option." He says with a smile on his face.
"Of course, it's the only option." You say with a smile equally big.
He kissed you on the lips this time. Tomorrow you would leave for a new country that scares you, and your entire family would think that you killed yourself after the funeral, but at least you and Jun-Ho were scared together.

Smile With Teeth
(Part 1)
Tumblr media
{ Alice in Borderland Master List }
Summary: Chishiya hated his life before the Borderlands. He hated everything about it and he felt that it wasn’t satisfactory. Nothing was keeping him going, except you. You, his fiancé, are the only thing that’s keeping him going. Both to stay living, and to get out of the Borderlands. He did some pretty messed up things to try to get back to you. Only to find out, you were in Borderlands too.
Inspired by: THIS POST by this amazing writer @ithehellisbucky Go check out their works when you get a chance!
Warnings: Spoilers for the manga & show
Notes: Firstly, the only spoilers for the manga is that I’m taking real material from the manga found on Fandom and the parts I’m taking from the show is all from season 1. I have not read the manga or what happens after the 10 of Hearts game, so I won’t be going off what happens in the Second Stage. Secondly, although the post I linked above did inspire me to write this, it won’t be alike at all. They wrote about Niragi and a pregnant reader. While I’m writing about our darling Chishiya and his fiancé (you). Thirdly, I also posted this on AO3 if you want to read it there. Here’s the LINK. Lastly, yes I know this is a lot, but anything in italics is a flashback/backstory. Now, without any further a due… Enjoy Curious Cats! ఌ
Fem!Reader
(=^ェ^=)(=^ェ^=)(=^ェ^=)(=^ェ^=)(=^ェ^=)
Chishiya has done some very bad things in his lifetime.
He’s killed, betrayed, stole, and now just set someone on fire. I guess that includes arson to the mix.
He’s done things that people in the real world would send him to prison or even an asylum for. But, he doesn’t care about the repercussions. He’ll say and do anything to get back to the real world. Anything to get back to her.
His world. His life. His reason for existing. His fiancé, Y/n Y/l.
Although she would call herself Mrs. Chishiya. Just the thought of her calling herself that brings a smile to his face. Not a fake, half assed one either. A real one with teeth and all.
Even during the worst of times he smiles thinking about her. Even after he just set someone on fire and tumbling off the roof top of The Beach, he can smile to your face and the thought of your voice.
Everyone has their own reasons on why they want to return to the real world. Chishiya’s reason is singular.
You.

@girl8890 thx so much! the focus of this is to take canon and look at it from a different perspective, like it could actually be something niragi is going through that we just don't see as the audience, and since i haven't seen or watched or read the manga or the anime, im gonna keep it a one shot. but since season 2 is coming out soon and dori was spotted on set, a part 2 is def possible.

Niragi Suguru x Female!Reader
Requested: Nope
Word Count: 4k
Warnings: Cussing, canon level violence, implied sexual assault, inappropriate touching, pregnancy, implied fatherhood abandonment, bullying, trauma, OOC Niragi, etc.
Author’s Note: This is a fix it fic, where Niragi isn't a bad guy. Niragi does do several morally bad things, but it's for a good reason, even though he does go to far. I did include the scene with Niragi and Usagi, but I made it very clear that he was never going to rape her, he planned for her to escape. I literally just wrote this bc I had an idea and I watched Coffee and Vanilla with Dori Sakurada as well.
~
Anything. The limits of what Niragi would do are non-existent. He would do anything to get back to the life he had before.
It was torture. He was bullied every day. He had scars on his shoulders from where his bullies had beaten him, he could vividly remember long nights where he would vomit up whatever they had forced him to eat.
Long story short, the only good thing in his life was you. He liked everything about you. How when you focused on something you scrunched up, or that you always wore a sweatshirt even when it was a hundred degrees outside.
But most importantly he loved how much you loved him. How the day you transferred to his school you threw a piece of gravel as hard as you could into one of his bully's back. He saw that your legs were trembling but you put everything you could into a mask to try and fend off the bullies.
It hurt him more than anything the bullies had done to him to watch the bully hold you down and licked a long strip from the side of your neck to your ear. Two of the other bullies held his shoulders down so he couldn't fight back or rescue you. The man eventually let you go and you ran away crying, but not before looking back at him in pity.
That was when Niragi decided that he would never let anyone do anything to you ever again.
He saw you in a cafe near the bridge where they had tortured you both, bouncing your knee and eating pistachio and chocolate ice cream.
You were still wearing your school uniform, but you had an unzipped brown sweatshirt over your uniform. Niragi could see that the side of your neck where the bully had touched you was red and almost bleeding, your right hand was shaking, and Niragi could tell that you had tried to scratch the feeling of him off of your body, he was all too familiar with the long red lines and the bloody trails left by his own fingernails.
"Thank you." You looked up from your ice cream to look at Niragi. Your eyes were beautiful, the sclera (the white part) of your eye was milky, which deeply contrasted with the deep darkness of your dilated pupil. Overall, you were very, very, pretty.
"Um, you're welcome." You blinked several times and looked away with a slight twinge.
Niragi sat down, and you began a somewhat awkward conversation. Niragi spoke with a slight stutter, and he acted flustered as he ordered his ice cream.
"Uh, do you want a piece of candy?" You asked as he waited for his ice cream.
"Um, sure."
He popped the candy out of the green wrapper into his mouth, and his face puckered up. "Sorry, it's a little bit sour."
It was sour, but still, a little bit sweet "It's okay, I like it."
You both laughed, and he fell in love with the eyes that had a special glint in them when you laughed.
In that moment Niragi found himself comfortable with you. His stutter all but faded, and he smiled when you smiled.
From that point onwards, it was the Niragi and (y/n) show.
Niragi started to change with you. He would sit on the bleachers with you on his lap, he punched his bullies back, he took off his glasses. He even got a nose piercing. All you did was support him, but whenever you talked about the state he was in when you met he would kiss your neck and say that it was "all thanks to you."
Over the last two years of high school the two of you became no longer the nerdy couple, it became a Grease situation. The bad boy with the girl. Yes, Niragi was intimidating as hell, but he never beat up anyone innocent. He still got plenty of nosebleeds from getting into a fight with ex-bullies, but you didn't mind.
It took several incidents like your first meeting for him to get confident, so you had no remorse for whatever Niragi did to them. He was a good guy, that's the overlying clause.
After high school, you enrolled in a private college. You got your tuition covered and had to pay all living expenses, Niragi got a full scholarship (plus a little bit of extra), once he started growing his hair out and getting piercings people started underestimating his intelligence, but make no mistake, Niragi is one of the smartest people you'll ever meet.
You were living in an apartment 7 minutes away from campus that the school supplied for Niragi, it was pretty small, there was only one room and a bathroom, you ate and slept and studied in the same room, but you didn't mind.
Niragi had begun to recover from the trauma he had experienced for years in middle and high school, Niragi didn't cry, but sometimes he would look out the window for hours.
You were always there for him, and he was always there for you, in his weird Niragi way.
One day when he was coming home he was you were sitting at the kitchen table staring off into space. He didn't see you in one of your classes that day, and he had tried to call you and you didn't pick up.
"Baby are you okay." You didn't respond, you just sat there and your hands were clutched very tightly together in front of you. "Honey, are you okay, I need to know that you were okay."
You don't say anything, and instead, a tear ran down your face, "I- I went to the doctor today."
He knelt down in front of you and wiped the tear off of your face, "are- are you sick. I promise you're gonna be oka-"
You shake your head and he looks puzzled, "are- are you worried about money, don't worry baby I'll pay it, I'll pay all of it."
You turn to face him again and you're still silently blinking as tears stream down your face.
Niragi notices that the reason your hands are so clasped is because you are holding something in a death grip. He gently grabs your hand and pries it open with a little effort.
There's a crumpled piece of paper resting in your palm, and as he reaches for it your hand flinches when he grabs it.
Once it's in his hand you avoid his gaze and turn to look out the window again.
He smoothes out the crumpled piece of paper and is shocked to find what it is; an ultrasound.
Niragi doesn't say anything for a moment and you're expecting him to punch you, throw you off the chair and scream at you, but he doesn't do any of those things.
You're still holding your breath when you feel a hand on your lower abdomen. "A baby." He whispers.
You turn to look at him, and he's crying. You've never seen him cry before, so you don't know how to react.
"Are- are those good or bad tears?" You whisper, as he still stares at your belly.
"Bad tears, baby, my baby is having my baby, of course it's happy tears!" He smiles and laughs as he turns you in the chair to face him and he kisses your belly.
"But what about school? What about money? We live in a-" You begin to start ranting but Niragi is still in his own little world.
"We'll figure all of that out later, but right now that doesn't matter," he looks up from your stomach to meet your eyes, and whispers "because we're going to be parents."
In that moment your sad tears became happy ones, and you started laughing. Niragi was laughing too, not his laugh when he's proving to his bullies how strong he is, the pure unadulterated laugh he gets when you're watching a movie with cheesy gore together, or when he watches your face pucker up when you're eating sour candy. He would never admit it, but his laugh is a giggle.
He kisses up from the top of your thigh, lingering on your stomach but putting his rather large hand in its place when he travels up to your sternum and above.
You're both laughing out of joy when he reaches your neck, and you can feel his chuckles vibrate through your veins.
You spend the rest of the evening dance around the kitchen, giggling, eating candy, and researching apartments that could accommodate your family of 3.
Niragi pins the ultrasound to the fridge with magnets.
~~~
When Niragi wakes up you're not next to him. He's not too worried, as he just realized that the reason that you've been sick every day when you wake up is because of morning sickness.
He gets up and ties back his long hair into a bun, "baby" he tries to flip on the light in the bathroom but it's not working, but even with the light off he can clearly see that you are not hunched over and puking. He goes to check the kitchen for a not or something, but there's nothing on the fridge or table.
He smiles when he sees the ultrasound photo on the fridge. Niragi tries to call your phone, as you might've gone out for food and forgotten to tell him, but his phone isn't working. He quickly puts on his jacket and begins to panic.
He tries to charge his phone but quickly realizes that the reason it's not working is not because it's not charged. He still shoves it in his pocket and exits the apartment to try and find you in your favorite cafe, but not before writing you a note and putting it next to the ultrasound photo, where he's sure you'll see it when you get back.
The elevator isn't working, so Niragi has to go down the stairs. The automatic doors out of the lobby aren't working, and there's no one around either, even though the convenience store looks open, even if there are no luminescent lights. Niragi reasons that there was a power outage or some sort of disaster so everyone is hiding or trying to fix things.
But he doesn't care about the danger, he just has to find you. He figures that if there is a disaster no one will care if he throws a potted plant out of the window to escape. Once he gets into the street it looks like a normal day, the birds are chirping, it's sunny, but there is no one anywhere in sight. He runs down the street to find all of the shops open but without power and without people.
The cafe you often frequent is empty as well.
Niragi runs around Tokyo for about 3 hours and finds nothing. Cars abandoned, stores empty, and not a single soul in sight.
He finally goes back to his apartment and plans to go to bed early and hope that this was all a bad dream. As he's beginning to go to bed the lights turn on. His phone does as well, the screen reads one thing: game at Tokoyo Center Mall.
Without any other leads Niragi begins his journey, he grabs a kitchen knife, his glasses (in case he loses his contacts), and just before he leaves your ultrasound photo as well.
He put on the fancy dress shirt that you bought him for his birthday a few months prior. He threw his hair into a bun and adjusted his contact lenses, and set foot out of his apartment for what he opened wouldn't be the last time.
To Niragi's shock, there were about 8 people in the lobby of the Mall, he picked up a phone off the table as instructed. The only thing on the screen was "lobby closes in 4 minutes."
No one spoke, and about 4 more people joined, leaving about a dozen in the mall.
One of the women tried to leave, and a laser shot through the ceiling and killed her. A few people started screaming, and a few acted completely unfazed, one even muttered underneath their breath "less competition."
Niragi was in the middle, screaming and sobbing on the inside, but unaffected from the outside. Now there were only 12.
"GAME: 9 OF HEARTS." Murmurs lit up around the room "LAST ONE STANDING. TIME LIMIT: INDEFINITE." The people who came together looked at each other with suspicion and shock, but Niragi did not yet know why.
A store lit up across the lobby, a pretzel shop, and there was a giant board of weapons lit up.
Niragi realized what this was, he had to kill everyone else to survive. Niragi and 7 people ran to the board of weapons, and 4 people ran away.
If he was ever going to see you again he had to make a plan. He already saw this game kill one person today. As he was running he saw a woman beside him trip a man, and he just barely avoided her foot. He grabbed a machete and a pistol and ran, if there was no time limit he had plenty of time to make a plan.
He heard a squelching and screaming sound behind him, but Niragi didn't turn around.
"Player eliminated. 11 Players remaining." A voice exclaimed from a loudspeaker.
Niragi was running through the mall, he stopped when he was an empty storefront that ready "Baby Duckies," a baby store. Niragi stepped inside and noticed that there was a trail of blood coming from his shoes. Fuck. He'll figure that out later.
He tried to keep running but he couldn't. He was stopped at the store. Niragi sighed when he realized that there was no way he was moving away.
He stepped inside the store and slumped down against the wall. He pulled out the ultrasound photo from his pocket. His baby. He was having a baby and right now you were somewhere and you thought that you left him and the baby.
Niragi was terrified of being a dad, he was a college student, he had no bit of stability in his life, he didn't know how to show affection to anyone but his girlfriend. Oh my god his girlfriend, she was pregnant. The love of his life was pregnant with his baby and he couldn't hold her. He couldn't rub your back when you were vomiting or scold you for drinking coffee.
He didn't have any aspect of hope to ever hold his baby.
Niragi had to survive. He had to hold your hand while you were giving birth, and he had to teach his kid how to say "dada." He had to be there, and the only way he could be there was by killing all these innocent people. But if he had to, he would. He would do anything for you and his baby.
"Player eliminated, 7 players, remaining." Niragi realized that he had missed 4 more deaths in his inner monologue.
He heard a squelching sound past the mouth of the storefront, and Niragi quickly shoved the ultrasound photo back into his pocket, tucked the machete into his belt, and picked up the gun, pointing it at the shadowy figure.
"Hello, hello?" It was a woman's voice. Niragi carefully stood up and started walking towards her. At first, Niragi was planning on asking her for help, or information or something, and letting someone else kill her later, but once he was her his mindset immediately changed.
She was covered in blood, head to toe. In any other situation, Niragi would run to her and help her, but he couldn't now. It wasn't her blood. She was the one who tried to trip him earlier, and he realized that the only way she was still alive was that she had killed everyone in her path.
"I- I'm really scared, I-" Before Niragi knew what he was doing he had raised the gun and the next thing he knew was that there was a bullet between her eyes. He killed her. He killed a woman. He didn't even know how he knew how to pull the trigger, he had held a gun once at a field trip in high school to a farm out in an American Style Dude ranch in the country, but he had never shot anyone. And he had certainly never killed anyone.
There was no going back. He could never go back. He knew what he had to do.
3 and a half hours later Niragi was soaked in blood and sitting outside of the mall. He had the broken stump of the machete handle from beating the final person surviving to death with it.
In reality, he was the only person after the first woman he killed, because Niragi watched him assault the second to last-survivor before he could reach her and he murdered he after he tried to fight back. Niragi killed him.
He hopes you could forgive him. You hoped that after this game someone would pick him up and it turned out to be a game show or an escape room or virtual reality, or something, literally anything else. He hoped that a car would come and pick him up to bring him to you, or that this was all a bad dream and he would wake up spooning you the next time he blinking.
Anything was better than the reality. He was stuck in this hell world and in the past 4 hours, he had killed two people.
But he did, he did realize that. Niragi was smart. He knew that there was no way to survive if he remained who he was before, he had to be ruthless.
He turned to look at the playing card in his other hand. A nine of hearts. Just what the voice and the phone had said just 5 hours before.
"Hey, what the fuck happened to Ekibyo and Nyujaki?" He didn't even realize what was happening, but a man with long hair and sunglasses on was hanging out the window of a car.
This was the moment where Niragi had to implement his strategy. Being nice never kept anyone alive. "I gutted them like fucking fish." Niragi stood up and yelling. He saw a man call the woman he watched getting attacked Nyujaki, and he cringed. He didn't want to do this, but the need to get back to you was important.
The man pauses for a second and then exits the car. He sees that he's shirtless and wearing a colorful robe and red boxers. A bald man exits the car next to him, and they both walk toward Niragi.
"What the shit do you want." Niragi stands up defiantly in front of them.
"I like him, do you like him? Because I like him." The hippie turns to the man next to him and the bald guy responds with a roll of his eyes.
He liked the bald guy way more than the hippie.
"I'm Aguni and this is Hatter." He extends his hand, and Niragi moves to shake it before he realizes the playing card is still in his hand.
'Hatter' gasps "the nine of hearts? You won the nine of hearts?" He gleefully laughs and snatches it from his hand, the more he thinks about it the more he wishes that he hid it from the man and told him that he threw it away.
"You are coming with us." The bald guy exclaims, grabbing Niragi's shoulder.
Niragi figures that they wouldn't hurt him if they thought he was that valuable, so he sees no reason why not to go with them. "Fine, but don't pull any fast shit."
He gets into the racecar and drives away with them, wondering why this car is running but no others are. But that isn't important right now.
They get to a dock and when they get out of the car Niragi sees a massive cruise ship, "What is this place?" He asks.
Hatter places his hand on Niragi's shoulder, "this, my friend, is The Beach."
~~~
It's been 68 days since Niragi arrived in this New World that was deemed Borderland.
Today had been the worst day by far. He had to attack a woman, he was never going to rape her. Never. He would never do anything bad he didn't have to. He knew for a fact that there was no way a rock climber couldn't fend of limited restraints while all other 4 people were distracted, and he also let go of her legs and turned completely around on purpose. After this was all done he would apologize to her and explain, but for now he had to keep up appearances.
Yes, Niragi killed people, but he also knew that they would probably die in way worse ways if Niragi didn't tie them up and let the laser do it, or shoot them quickly in the skull. He was smart. He knew that people wouldn't fuck with people they thought were sociopaths, and he was right. No one fucks with someone they've seen murder their friends.
Every day he would go to sleep feeling guilty. And part of him knew that it was wrong, but the other part of him knew that he had no choice. He had to meet his baby.
Every night he would dream of you and your baby. At this point you were probably a month or so into your second trimester, you probably had a cute little baby bump and could feel little butterfly kicks inside your tummy. He missed all of that stuff.
But mostly, and he would never admit it, but he was scared. Today Chishiya had burned him, badly. He luckily fell into the swimming pool, and the burns were bad, but he knew that if he treated them he would survive. Thank god for the advanced chemistry and biology class he was taking. Niragi decided to study to be a doctor when he gets out of Borderland, to try and make up for all the sins he committed while in here.
No one besides Aguni knew he survived. Earlier that night, when Niragi wasn't sure he could keep on going with the dozens of people he had killed, he told Aguni that if he didn't make it out to find you and take care of you and the baby.
So, when he drove Niragi into the fire, he knew that he wasn't in fact killing you, but saving you instead. If people knew he survived the fall of the beach there is no doubt that he would be publicly executed for all the people he killed, and Niragi couldn't have that. His kid needed him.
After he and Aguni had parted ways, Niragi found himself sitting at the Nurse's station in an abandoned hospital panting, after rubbing burn cream and stitching himself up as best as he could.
Niragi was scared for you and the baby to see him, all burned and scarred, especially since he couldn't get skin grafts and it would probably heal very, very badly, but that didn't matter. He was going to be a dad, even if he had to wear a mask every time he looked at you and your child. Niragi also knew that you would love him no matter what he looked like. That was one of his favorite things about you, you loved him as he is.
He saw, out of the corner of his eye, a piece of green sour candy, just like what you had given to him on the day you met. He dug through his pockets quickly, and to his relief, the ultrasound photo was somehow completely untouched by the flames that had scarred his body.
He pops the piece of hand and his face scrunches up due to the sourness in his mouth as he stares at the photo of his baby. Nothing else matter. He would do anything to get back to you.
He was going to find his way back to his family, no matter what.

~~~
When Niragi wakes up you're not next to him. He's not too worried, as he just realized that the reason that you've been sick every day when you wake up is because of morning sickness.
He gets up and ties back his long hair into a bun, "baby" he tries to flip on the light in the bathroom but it's not working, but even with the light off he can clearly see that you are not hunched over and puking. He goes to check the kitchen for a not or something, but there's nothing on the fridge or table.
He smiles when he sees the ultrasound photo on the fridge. Niragi tries to call your phone, as you might've gone out for food and forgotten to tell him, but his phone isn't working. He quickly puts on his jacket and begins to panic.
He tries to charge his phone but quickly realizes that the reason it's not working is not because it's not charged. He still shoves it in his pocket and exits the apartment to try and find you in your favorite cafe, but not before writing you a note and putting it next to the ultrasound photo, where he's sure you'll see it when you get back.
The elevator isn't working, so Niragi has to go down the stairs. The automatic doors out of the lobby aren't working, and there's no one around either, even though the convenience store looks open, even if there are no luminescent lights. Niragi reasons that there was a power outage or some sort of disaster so everyone is hiding or trying to fix things.
But he doesn't care about the danger, he just has to find you. He figures that if there is a disaster no one will care if he throws a potted plant out of the window to escape. Once he gets into the street it looks like a normal day, the birds are chirping, it's sunny, but there is no one anywhere in sight. He runs down the street to find all of the shops open but without power and without people.
The cafe you often frequent is empty as well.
Niragi runs around Tokyo for about 3 hours and finds nothing. Cars abandoned, stores empty, and not a single soul in sight.
He finally goes back to his apartment and plans to go to bed early and hope that this was all a bad dream. As he's beginning to go to bed the lights turn on. His phone does as well, the screen reads one thing: game at Tokoyo Center Mall.
Without any other leads Niragi begins his journey, he grabs a kitchen knife, his glasses (in case he loses his contacts), and just before he leaves your ultrasound photo as well.
He put on the fancy dress shirt that you bought him for his birthday a few months prior. He threw his hair into a bun and adjusted his contact lenses, and set foot out of his apartment for what he opened wouldn't be the last time.
To Niragi's shock, there were about 8 people in the lobby of the Mall, he picked up a phone off the table as instructed. The only thing on the screen was "lobby closes in 4 minutes."
No one spoke, and about 4 more people joined, leaving about a dozen in the mall.
One of the women tried to leave, and a laser shot through the ceiling and killed her. A few people started screaming, and a few acted completely unfazed, one even muttered underneath their breath "less competition."
Niragi was in the middle, screaming and sobbing on the inside, but unaffected from the outside. Now there were only 12.
"GAME: 9 OF HEARTS." Murmurs lit up around the room "LAST ONE STANDING. TIME LIMIT: INDEFINITE." The people who came together looked at each other with suspicion and shock, but Niragi did not yet know why.
A store lit up across the lobby, a pretzel shop, and there was a giant board of weapons lit up.
Niragi realized what this was, he had to kill everyone else to survive. Niragi and 7 people ran to the board of weapons, and 4 people ran away.
If he was ever going to see you again he had to make a plan. He already saw this game kill one person today. As he was running he saw a woman beside him trip a man, and he just barely avoided her foot. He grabbed a machete and a pistol and ran, if there was no time limit he had plenty of time to make a plan.
He heard a squelching and screaming sound behind him, but Niragi didn't turn around.
"Player eliminated. 11 Players remaining." A voice exclaimed from a loudspeaker.
Niragi was running through the mall, he stopped when he was an empty storefront that ready "Baby Duckies," a baby store. Niragi stepped inside and noticed that there was a trail of blood coming from his shoes. Fuck. He'll figure that out later.
He tried to keep running but he couldn't. He was stopped at the store. Niragi sighed when he realized that there was no way he was moving away.
He stepped inside the store and slumped down against the wall. He pulled out the ultrasound photo from his pocket. His baby. He was having a baby and right now you were somewhere and you thought that you left him and the baby.
Niragi was terrified of being a dad, he was a college student, he had no bit of stability in his life, he didn't know how to show affection to anyone but his girlfriend. Oh my god his girlfriend, she was pregnant. The love of his life was pregnant with his baby and he couldn't hold her. He couldn't rub your back when you were vomiting or scold you for drinking coffee.
He didn't have any aspect of hope to ever hold his baby.
Niragi had to survive. He had to hold your hand while you were giving birth, and he had to teach his kid how to say "dada." He had to be there, and the only way he could be there was by killing all these innocent people. But if he had to, he would. He would do anything for you and his baby.
"Player eliminated, 7 players, remaining." Niragi realized that he had missed 4 more deaths in his inner monologue.
He heard a squelching sound past the mouth of the storefront, and Niragi quickly shoved the ultrasound photo back into his pocket, tucked the machete into his belt, and picked up the gun, pointing it at the shadowy figure.
"Hello, hello?" It was a woman's voice. Niragi carefully stood up and started walking towards her. At first, Niragi was planning on asking her for help, or information or something, and letting someone else kill her later, but once he was her his mindset immediately changed.
She was covered in blood, head to toe. In any other situation, Niragi would run to her and help her, but he couldn't now. It wasn't her blood. She was the one who tried to trip him earlier, and he realized that the only way she was still alive was that she had killed everyone in her path.
"I- I'm really scared, I-" Before Niragi knew what he was doing he had raised the gun and the next thing he knew was that there was a bullet between her eyes. He killed her. He killed a woman. He didn't even know how he knew how to pull the trigger, he had held a gun once at a field trip in high school to a farm out in an American Style Dude ranch in the country, but he had never shot anyone. And he had certainly never killed anyone.
There was no going back. He could never go back. He knew what he had to do.
3 and a half hours later Niragi was soaked in blood and sitting outside of the mall. He had the broken stump of the machete handle from beating the final person surviving to death with it.
In reality, he was the only person after the first woman he killed, because Niragi watched him assault the second to last-survivor before he could reach her and he murdered he after he tried to fight back. Niragi killed him.
He hopes you could forgive him. You hoped that after this game someone would pick him up and it turned out to be a game show or an escape room or virtual reality, or something, literally anything else. He hoped that a car would come and pick him up to bring him to you, or that this was all a bad dream and he would wake up spooning you the next time he blinking.
Anything was better than the reality. He was stuck in this hell world and in the past 4 hours, he had killed two people.
An Apocalyptic Romance
Cha Hyun-Su x Reader
Requested: "Why do you keep hanging around me?! Go with her, don't you like her?!" "But I like you." @leedosbunnyboy
Word Count: 2.4k
Warnings: A lot. Suicide mention, self harm (not only Hyun-Su), reader smokes and has a nicotine addiction, blood, trauma, shock, canon level violence, PTSD, survivor's guilt, everything in canon just with reader in it
Author's Note: After writing this I don't even want to write for the MCU anymore. I'm just not into that anymore, so let me know about that. It was my birthday on monday. And let's just say that it was a birthday.
~
It wasn't like in the movies. Yes, some people stepped up and some people wielded weapons to defend themselves against the monsters. But it wasn't like that.
No one relished power or freedom in this new world. No one enjoyed being the product of a science fiction novel. This wasn't how anyone's future was supposed to go.
Your neighbor had just moved in a month or so ago. His hair almost covered his eyes and at first, the only sign that he was alive was the weekly ramen deliveries that showed up at his door. If you hadn't seen those, you would have thought that there was no one living there at all.
You both happened to peek out your door at the same time when you heard loud screeching from down the hallway. Slowly following a trail of torn apart ramen packet heading toward your across the hall neighbor- a model.
When you saw her dead cat's skull scrape across the floor, being dragged by a disturbing and grotesque blood-soaked hand, you weren't able to stifle your scream. Luckily, he quickly slapped his hand over your mouth and moved slowly back away.
Your feet were planted on the ground. You couldn't move, couldn't breathe. You barely recognized it when he wrapped the arm that wasn't over your mouth around your torso and began to drag you with what little upper body strength he had.
In the moment, you were too terrified to even pick your feet off the ground, which was almost a saving grace, but unfortunately, your neighbor was too busy making sure you didn't scream and kill you both, that he didn't do the same.
The crunch of the dry noodles made you both freeze in place. After this you weren't so scared of the noise your mouth would make when you opened it, so you screamed as loud as you possibly could and your neighbor grabbed your hand and you ran together towards the door to his apartment.
You couldn't tell what was behind you and you didn't want to know. All you knew was that the soles of your shoes were covered in the cat's blood, and you were shivering in fear. You couldn't even will yourself to cry.
Your neighbor had a different reaction. He stared into space, in shock. It was at this moment that you realized you didn't even know the name of the man who saved your life.
"Um, what, what is your name again." You stuttered, unaware of how you should even approach this situation.
His gaze at the door was unwearying. "Cha Hyun-Su," His voice and his body didn't react, almost like his brain was already so traumatized that this situation was just like weight on a broken scale.
"My- my name is (y/n)."
He turned his head to face you, and you almost saw a glimmer of something in his eye, but he didn't say a word.
Hyun-Su might've said something in that moment, but you would never know, because the doorbell rang and interrupted your eye contact, causing you both to stare at the red door in terror.
He grabbed a bat and slowly walked towards the door, eventually reaching it and look on at the security camera monitor. You heard him mutter underneath his breath something about her hands until you heard loud feedback like sound and a body-shaped dent rammed into the door. Hyun-soo backed away in terror and held up the hockey stick in defense position. You grabbed an X-Acto knife you found lying on the ground next to his bed and clutched it close to your chest, frozen in fear.
The both of you stayed perfectly still for another few minutes until the ramming finally backed away. Hyun-Su ran to his computer and sat down in his gaming chair, as you stayed in place as if someone had covered you in a block of ice and left you to thaw.
Hyun-soo muttered to himself and you stayed still, for at least 45 minutes. Unmoving and incredibly, incredibly fazed.
Slowly, you and your neighbor had figured out the basic rules of this new universe.
Don't confront the monsters, never get a nose bleed, don't make a sound, always save others, and never leave Green Home.
Over time, you found something with Hyun-soo that you could never find anywhere else.
It wasn't perfect. It couldn't be in an imperfect world. But the way you looked at Hyun-soo when you thought that he wasn't looking was the most perfect thing there was here.
You didn't talk about it. Somehow talking about it would make it real, and reality can be twisted and ruined.
When Hyun-soo's nose started bleeding on the first few days of your alliance, you were terrified. But you pulled yourself together because no one could have been more terrified than him. As wrong and badly motivated as it is, you trusted him to tell you if he thought he would hurt you.
Together you decided to take the fight to the monsters or die trying.
There was screaming outside of your window. Kids, screaming for their father from several floors above. You watched in horror as the monster tore their father from their building, and he fell onto the ground below.
By this time Hyun-soo was at the window with you today too. You managed to distract the monster and fight him off, and you set off on a mission to save the children.
On your quest, you met Dusik Hahn, a wheelchair-bound man who made weapons for you to fight off the monsters with. He made a knife stick for Hyun-Su, and he took your small Exacto knife and made it into a deadly dagger for close-range combat. Not exactly a situation you wanted to be in, but a situation you might as well be prepared for.
You made the slow journey to save the kids and ran into another group of two, the bassist that you heard thumping through your floor sometimes, and a god-devoted teacher wielding a sword.
You had managed to recognize the monster-hunting the children and narrowly rescued the kids in the meantime.
Right as you had made your way out of the direct danger, Hyun-Su stopped. His nose was bleeding.
"Take the children." He said, clutching his nose.
"Hyun-" You said, reaching for him and trying to help him.
"TAKE THE CHILDREN AND RUN!"
You didn't want to argue, you ran down the stairs and hid yourself and the children in a closet, praying to whatever cruel god was out there that Hyun-Su would be the one walking down those stairs and not a monster.
There was a thumping noise coming down the stairs, and you covered both the children's mouths and clamped yours shut. You only opened your mouth when you could see very clearly that it was Hyun-Su and not a monsterized version of himself.
You let out a sigh of relief and threw the door open, wrapping your arms around Hyun-Su and his blood-soaked hoodie. He awkwardly patted you on the back, body as stiff as a board, as that was the extent of what you could really do.
You didn't talk about what happened to him, or that you saw his eyes turn blackout of the corner of your eyes. He wasn't the same as he was before, but he wasn't fully a monster either. It was the only Hyun-Su that you had ever known. And you like what you see.
You dropped off the kids at Dusik's apartment and set off on a journey to the lobby on the ground floor.
There weren't that many monsters that attacked you on your journey down. You ignored all the ones that ignored you.
When you reached the first floor you saw a ghastly sight. Many of your neighbors were there, and they all looked entirely broken. You got the situation you described to by Eun-Hyuk, a medical student that you had seen around the building and working on his laptop in cafes near the apartment complex.
Everyone seemed pretty nice, except for the asshole convenience store owner. Some people hated Eun-Hyuk, but you felt bad for him. He didn't want to let that girl die and he didn't want to hurt people, he was just trying to save as many people as he could, and being a hero couldn't be easy.
You met his sister Eun-Yoo, you had seen her dancing on the roof when you went up there to breathe and to smoke. She seemed taken to Hyun-Su, and he seemed a little bit smitten by her. You hate to admit it, but you felt jealous.
She was beautiful, and feminine, and unapologetic, all the things that you weren't. He couldn't not like her.
When the rest of the neighbors found out that Hyun-Su was some sort of monsterized version of himself, there was naturally an uproar.
It was entirely silent when all of the residents were crammed into the preschool room, silently waiting for Eun-Hyuk to tally the results of the vote.
It was a tie. A perfect tie, between banishment and acceptance. Because that's how it always seems to go.
The nasty convenience store owner, Suk-Hyun, was screaming at Hyun-Su, right up until his nose began to bleed. He started pleading for his life, and Hyun-Su walked up at tallied the vote against himself, only to make sure Suk-Hyun went in with him.
When Hyun-Su and Suk-Hyun were trapped in an empty office, you brought him ramen and sat down in front of the chained storefront and ate with him.
Silently, you sat together. What you didn't know, is that whenever you were looking down Hyun-Su was looking at you.
Over the next week a lot of stuff happened, you rescued more people, lost some, been through more tragedy and trauma than anyone should have to go through in their entire life, and throughout it all, you and Hyun-Su stayed stuck together.
Hyun-Su and Eun-Yoo grew closer, they would talk together and you would often see her staring at him from across the room.
Eun-Yoo was good, and she was kind to the people that deserved it. Sure, she was violent, mildly sadistic, and cold, but she was still a good person. Yet you hated her. You hated her because Hyun-Su wanted her more than he wanted you.
It wasn't like you to be a jealous or pretentious or possessive person, but you wanted Hyun-Su more than you wanted most things. And sometimes life just works out that way. In horrible, jealous and violent ways.
You were sitting with Hyun-Su in an empty hallway on the first floor. You were both trying to ignore the fact that the door you were guarding had the bodies of a 10-year-old and a soldier behind it.
This world wasn't fun or easy. It was an adventure and it wasn't an epic. It was just real life. And real life is broken. You saw the scars on Hyun-Su's wrist when his hoodie sleeve rode up. You saw the way he looked at the sobbing mother mourning her daughter. You overheard Eun-Yoo talking about Hyun-Su killing himself.
You had scars on your body too. Cigarette burns across your hands from where the butt fell off, times where you pushed it into the palm of your hand and the sides of your finger when you were drunk or too tired to run it under water or throw it out the window and all you could do is lay there and take the pain.
Real-life was broken. Hyun-Su was broken. You were broken. This world is broken.
You realized that in your self-sabotaging state you had let a tear slip out of the corner of your eye.
"(y/n)." Hyun-Su was looking up at you from his ramen.
"Oh, uh sorry." You took your finger and wiped your tear away. He had enough on his plate already, he didn't need to know the raging jealousy that was growing inside you.
You were Hyun-Su's friend. He was your friend. He didn't love you, you were the person he could trust to remain consistent. He might not have loved Eun-Yoo, but he didn't love you. He couldn't love you.
"What's wrong (y/n)?" He was too pure. Someone who's been through so much and done so many bad, bad messed up things couldn't be that pure.
You didn't say anything. You took your spork and put another spoonful of hot ramen into your mouth. It burned a little bit, but you didn't mind.
"(y/n)?" He put down his food and scooted a little bit closer to you, still as shy as always "I need to know you're okay."
The link in the chain around your heart finally broke, "I'm not okay." You run your hand over your head as you look up at him, "You like Eun-Yoo, and that's okay, so why are you hanging out with me? I'm nothing compared to her!"
You finally shouted, agony stabbing through the heart that is no longer protected.
You put the ramen down and it kicks over when you stand up, water and noodles falling everywhere all over the floor. You don't even care, you just need to get away from Hyun-Su. You're walking away with a stomp when a hand grabs your wrist. It's Hyun-Su, obviously. Curse his weird half-monster superpowers.
"But I don't like Eun-Yoo," he grabs your other hand. "I like you."
It never even occurred to you that Hyun-Su could even like you a little bit. It was more like a fever dream that could never come true but that you can still fantasize about.
"What?" You ask, still not believing him.
He pulls you closer to him, little by little "I like you, (y/n)." This is the most assertive and straightforward that you had ever been. It shocks you. But he said your name, which means that he must mean you. He must mean you.
Before you realize it you are in his embrace and your arms are wrapped around each other. Finally allowed yourselves to be vulnerable within the comfort of one another.
You don't need to say anything, and neither does he, you both know exactly what to do now- just be there.
"Fucking finally," You both turn around and see Eun-Yoo standing at the end of the hall, a cigarette dangling from her mouth and a smirk on her lips.
~
It was her. The woman of his dreams. The woman that had been my lifeline. I didn't remember her for some days. But the days that I did were the best.
When you imagine something so much it starts to feel more like an animated cartoon than an actual person. Like she was a characature that my mind had made up to try to convince itself to not go crazy.
Sometimes I would think that she wasn't real. That over the years I had built a woman in my mind that had never really existed.
But yet, here she was.
She looked different, but it was still definitely her. Her hair was a darker shade. Maybe she dyed it before or maybe it was dyed now, but it was different. The length looked a little different too, but not that much of a difference. I couldn't pinpoint if it was longer or shorter, but there was something different about her hair.
Her eyes had deep and dark circles under them. The veins on the hand she reached out to me with are more pronounced. She was wearing a black and grey pantsuit, and I could tell that she was having difficulty running in the black-toed heels.
She ran as far as she could, but when she stopped, I turned around for a split second and looked back at her. Her eyes were looking at me, pleading to me to stop. To stop running, to stop running from her.
All I wanted to do was stop running. To stop running from her and to stop running from everything that had happened to me and to stop running from everything that I must've done to her.
I wanted to hold her like I held her 8 years ago. But the past is the past, and with the way she looked at me, I could tell that she is nothing near who and what she was when I left her 8 years ago.
~
The girl was pretty.
Like, pretty. There were slight blemishes across her cheeks and up the bridge of her nose. Her eyes were beautiful, and her pupils were deep and dark and I could get lost in them for hours. I wanted to get lost in her eyes for hours.
When she laughed, her eyes wrinkled. I could tell that she did it so rarely because the skin wasn't folded in the same way in the corners of her eyes. She looked really pretty when she smiled.
She let the soles of the yellow flip-flops she was wearing flop underneath the support beam of the diner stool she was sitting on, as she anxiously checked the watch on her right wrist, even though I was almost completely positive that she had nowhere to be.
Once we left the diner, she was walking as normally as possible for someone I could tell was having a pretty shitty day.
I didn't know how long I would see her, or how this would all end, all I know is that at this moment she is my yellow.
~
She's still my yellow.
