So, I just started watching Young Justice and I was liking the show alright, but FOR some stupid reason I decided to check Wikipedia and read the summary for all the four seasons and (massive spoilers ahead?) I'm shocked in the worst ways possible that they've killed Wally, turned Speedy into a villain and made Aqualad betray the team!!!!! WHAT THE HECK??? Fuck this is the first time I'm watching an animation in, like, a decade and they have killed my favorite character and destroyed everything else just like that? No, nope I' not watching this shit anymore. Sorry but this is just too messed up for me.

Crozier was always so mean to my sad boi 💔
Crozier to Little: as long as the fog holds off, don’t arm any more men
Crozier: *doesn’t tell Little he suspects Hickey is the murderer, and scheming things*
Fog: *gets worse*
Little: *goes along with arming men*
Crozier on his return: *shocked pikachu face*
Crozier to Little: I was clear! For reasons! (Which I didn’t explain out loud)
Little: the fog literally got worse, I thought I was making the best decision
Crozier: No! The bad guy is Hickey! You’ve made it worse!
Little: *apologises for a decision he made without knowing all the facts and feels miserable about fucking up so severely*

“I’m not the sailor you are, Francis, never will be. But you will never be fit for command”
So, it’s possibly the lukewarmest of takes to say that neither Crozier nor Franklin are the best of captains. The interesting thing is how their strengths and weaknesses complement each other and the two of them could have been a good team if they had both been able to put their differences aside and work together: Crozier is a shrewd and experienced sailor but cannot connect with the men around him, while Franklin is overconfident in his own abilities but beloved and respected by the entire crew (save Crozier).
I’ve seen a lot of gifsets and meta highlighting Franklin’s failings in comparison to Crozier’s strengths, but not so much giving the other side and showing all the ways in which the series contrasts Crozier’s mishandling of interpersonal situations with Franklin’s social grace. Crozier knows the arctic better than Franklin, but it is Franklin who understands that keeping the men’s spirits up and making them feel like a valued member of a team all working together is a vital part of a captain’s duties. It is clear to the audience that Crozier does care for his men (possibly even more so than Franklin does - Franklin’s decision to move a dying David Young to Erebus was not motivated by what was best for the patient) but this doesn’t stop him from treating them badly and fostering a resentment that eventually leads to mutiny.
“I’m not the sailor you are, Francis, never will be. But you will never be fit for command”. Franklin’s entire speech in episode three is fascinating and astonishingly cruel (far crueler than it would have been had Crozier not interrupted him while he was writing Gore’s eulogy, I think) and hits Crozier so hard because he knows Franklin is right, but this has already gotten far too long so I just want to pick out those two sentences because it encapsulates their conflict so well. Franklin knows he isn’t a strong sailor but he can inspire the men and believes that is what is most important in a commander; while Crozier keeps himself at a distance from his men but believes his sailing experience and acumen is what makes a captain. Not only do they both lack the strengths the other possesses, they don’t value those strengths and so cannot connect from a place of respect and learn from each other, which leaves their relationship as one of the many tragedies of the series.

It's like you desesperately seek boxes you can fit in. Horoscope, MBTI, gender identity, whatever is your tribe. Plenty of labelled boxes to squeeze yourself into, and I wonder why you desire the confinement of your boundless form in so limited spaces.
Put no labels on me, I'm happy with the complexity of the many universes that reside inside me.

LMAO I remember watching episode 10 and asking myself, "who... who is this guy? Since when is he on the show??", because I kept mistaken Little and Jopson all the time lol. I'm on my second watch and I think I can tell them apart... most of the time. I still have no idea who Armitage, Diggle, Le Vescounte, Manson, Hartnell and a bunch others are... Like, I can't recognize their faces at all. 🤦‍♀️

Notes from Soo and Adam’s talk for Terror Camp: Spring Edition
Here are my (extensive) notes from the Terror Camp talk with Soo and Adam. Even though the event only lasted a little over an hour, I took four pages of notes because they had so much that was interesting to say. The video will be available soon, but I wanted to type this up.
·      Both Adam and Soo are looking great. Soo had a very interesting lamp and what appeared to be an anime poster (?) in the background. Adam was in a house with a gorgeous garden.

You guys can't be serious
Should we talk about how toxic masculinity-obsessed Cobra Kai is the only dojo that can attract and keep female students? That Kreese is the only sensei in the show consistently going out of his way to recruit female students? That Daniel didn’t look past Sam for his AVT roster, and Johnny only made an attempt to recruit girls when he had to

So I guess this is confirmation that the writers think the burden of fixing Robby and Johnny’s relationship is on Robby. Literally going to vomit!

Agree! Although I think Terry went from a decent human being to a problematic person way too fast (like, he was trying to be ethic and good, but then he tried to apologize to Daniel and when Dany said no, Terry was like sO LEtS rEVanGE??), he was a beast under control until Kreese appeared in his life. Kreese is only getting what he asked for.
Terry: gets therapy, takes his medication, vegan, in a stable relationship, lives a happy semi-retired life by the sea
Kreese: drags Terry back into his dumb karate war by playing mind games on Terry, subtly insulting his stable lifestyle and calling him old
Terry: comes back to Cobra Kai after he remembers how Kreese gently caressed his neck at the tattoo shop, wants to teach kids how to be strong and win but doesn’t want to repeat past mistakes, backs up Cobra Kai financially, doesn’t try to dominate Kreese as a co-sensei
Kreese: questions Terry’s ethical methods, encourages him to go back to the no mercy way, drags him into his drama with Johnny and fuels Terry’s need for revenge, snaps at Terry for an innocent comment, pulls rank on him, belittles him, preys on his severe PTSD and mental issues, calls him a puddle of piss, bullies him into submission
Terry: doesn’t get upset at Kreese treating him like dirt, says he’ll do anything for him, pours even more money into Cobra Kai, goes back to the no mercy ways like Kreese wanted, tries to please Kreese by exacting revenge on Johnny because he thinks Kreese holds a grudge against him
Kreese: suddenly changes his mind and declares it Terry’s fault, bullies Terry into submission again, inadvertently drives an ex addict to substance abuse
Terry: finally snaps
Kreese: gets a sudden personality transplant
Everyone on Twitter: Omg, Terry Silver is MONSTER. He’s a PSYCHO. He’s even more unhinged than Kreese! He’s sadistic and twisted. He took over Kreese’s dojo!!! He wanted Tory to cheat! I hope Kreese gets a redemption arc now because he loves Johnny. Terry has no feelings and is beyond psychological help.

I fkn love Cobra Kai. I saw a comment somewhere that said that Cobra Kai is like a really well-done live action shonen anime. I honestly agree, the characters are really nuanced and the fights are so well choreographed and energetic. The fights are so high energy and very much like an anime.
I just finished the newest season and I highly recommend it watching it on Netflix. It’s such a cool project too, the follow-up to an 80s classic with the same actors 40 years later. And it’s not some lazy reboot either, it really takes a life of its own.
As it stands now, I’d say that over its four seasons the show has been able to tell a more complex and rich narrative than the original movies did, while also honouring the OG Karate Kid. I also love how the show deals with the issue of bullying and the cycle of abuse. Watch this show!! It’s good!! The character development is amazing too.
