Due to the fact I've been neglecting her, Connie is getting moved to my multi! You will find her at @we-will-begin-again. However, this blog will stay because I've got a lot of stuff here. It will just be archived.
I will answer the threads I owe replies to at my multi from now on.
💕 Thanks for the amazing two years 💕

"If we count the time you were watching us when we were taken to the community the first time," Connie signed, thinking back to that moment when she hadn't known it was Beta, but she'd seen someone. "Then my first thought was 'something is following us'. Then the first time I actually saw you, I thought: 'This one's going to be trouble'." (from Connie)

What was your muse’s first impression of mine?
His head slanted to the side, his gaze soft. How odd it was to him to reflect on a time that was now so long ago. A breath left his nose, “You always were quite observant,” Beta grumbled, then his lips pursed slithtly, almost with a subtls adoration. “I believe you turned out to be much more trouble than I was.”

"First time I saw you, you scared me," Connie signed, chuckling softly at the memory. "I was carrying that baby and you just popped up out of nowhere. I thought you were one of the whisperers until you didn't try to hurt me or Adam. We were both lucky you got to us before any of them did."

Daryl’s face burned hot and red. He nodded slightly, remembering the first time vividly. He had thought she was crazy going out there like she had, but she had more nerve and moxie than anyone else that had witnessed what was about to happen. ‘You were brave saving Adam when you didn’t have to. I admire that. A lot.’

Send me   ’ please… don’t go ‘     for my muse’s reaction to yours saying this. // @its-a-superpower
There was a slight haze of fog cast over the landscape as the morning sun began to rise. Beta had departed from the camp on his own for reasons unknown, perhaps it was to get away, or perhaps it was driven by another motive he refused to acknowledge. He had been hurt the night before, driven by the instinct to maintain his strength he did not wish to remain among the camp only to be humiliated again. Alpha knew when he had to be put in his place, she often reserved displays of violence between them, but she had carved his forearm in front of the whole group, a grim reminder of who was in charge. Of course, he let it happen. She was the Alpha after all and he should have known better than to question her.
Now he was wandering away like a scared animal. Though he wasn’t out here purely because he wanted to escape the humiliation of being scarred in front of his own people, he was looking for somebody. Beta found himself staggering in the direction of the farmhouse that he had visited many times before, only hoping that she would be there today. A few moons ago they had planned to meet again under this sun, just not so early in the morning. When he had arrived to the farmhouse, he sat on the porch steps, uncaring of how exposed he was in that position.
It felt like a dozen moons that he sat there and waited for Connie, when she finally arrived it was almost like she knew something was wrong. With an expression of concern washed across her features, she sat down beside the goliath on the step highest step so that she was eye level with him. The Whisperer had never been all that fond of the way she was able to read him so easily, even with her maintained the most lifeless posture, it made it difficult to hide anything from her. She reached out for his arm upon noticing the way he almost hugged it to his chest; though she didn’t force him to reveal it to her. He hesitated momentarily before allowing her to see, just barely holding his injured arm out.
Since he hadn’t wrapped it, the blood had seeped from his forearm down to his palm. But then she had begun to roll his sleeve up. That triggered a defensive instinct in the goliath; he was quick to flinch away and stood up with hazels eyes narrowed at her. Her eyes locked with his and in that moment he could tell there was more than just concern in her eyes. These meetings had become something of an escape for not just him, but Connie as well. It was something they shared together, and she wasn’t here to hurt him.. was she?
“Please… Don’t go,” she signed, shaking him from his thoughts. In her eyes there was a pleading gleam.
At her soundless words a lump formed in his throat. The behemoth stood tall and still, his lips pursed and browed furrowed slightly as he contemplated his next action. There was a slow hesitation as he stepped back towards the porch and began to lower himself down until he was sitting near her. A low, deep sigh left him and his eyes slid shut for a moment. He raised a hand and signed, “I didn’t know what to do.” Beta looked down at his arm, then to Connie with a soft but guilty look in his eye despite the lifeless stature he maintained.
Gently, her hand rested upon his arm then her other came up to graze his bearded cheek. “You’re safe,” she signed when he pulled her hand away, her other took a hold of his bloodied hand. “It’s okay,” Connie signed with her free hand. They hadn’t gotten this far just for Beta to run off because he was frightened— at least he wouldn’t let that happen. He had felt as if he had shown enough weakness already. Besides, he didn’t want to leave her here all alone, not when she needed him as much as he apparently needed her.
The behemoth was still, then he squeezed her hand and dipped his head once. “Okay. “ he signed back, letting the tension leave his shoulders as she ran her thumb over the back of his hand.

LAUREN RIDLOFF for ELLE US November 2021
“They had a man in a trench coat—I’m not making this up, I’m not kidding—a man in a trench coat who’d come over to my house at 11 at night with new script pages, in a manila envelope. You had to trade them off with the old script pages. Then he’d just walk off into the night. It was very undercover, covert.”

A free kiss. Yeah, he was definitely making it hard to want to leave when she was so content here. Hilltop was nice, but he wasn't there most of the time, and neither were the kids– Judith already had her wrapped around her little finger, and Connie knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that it wouldn't be long before it was the same with RJ.
Connie watched him get the wash cloth and finished clearing the table, leaving things aside so that he could grab them before reaching around Daryl to grab a tablecloth and dry what he was done washing. She paused, pressing a quick peck to his cheek and grinning triumphantly before she stepped back and started wiping the dishes dry, a soft yet thoughtful hum leaving her as she pondered what could possibly work with Judith. She was a smart girl.
"RJ looks up to Judith, use that," Connie spoke, it was odd to speak without looking at the person, and to do so out loud, but it was Daryl and she found she was comfortable doing so. "Older sister instinct is always to be a good example, no matter the age gap."
its-a-superpower:
Connie’d never thought Daryl would be the kind to be easy to fluster, but she was also certain she wasn’t that good at flustering people, so it had to be the case. It was adorable, even charming in a way, to watch how his face would turn red and he’d stutter a bit. She hummed at his offer, pretending to consider it and arching a brow when he mentioned a few other perks “if she was lucky”.
Then came the kiss, and Connie had to admit that kind of payment was somehow even more tempting than room and board.
“If you want kids to eat vegetables, put cheese on them,” she spoke out loud, grinning when he was facing her again before she resorted to signing again. “They want to learn sign, use that to your advantage. I used to tell Kelly she had to eat her food or she wouldn’t have energy to do all the signs when she was around RJ’s age.”
It’d worked on her sister, maybe it would work with Judith and RJ. She stepped forward, being the one to lean in and press a quick kiss to his lips this time. “Payment,” she signed, sticking her tongue out between her teeth playfully. “A kiss for each secret.”
Daryl didn’t often her voice, but it didn’t startle him. In fact, it helped him see that she trusted him if she was willing to speak to him. He smirked then, nodding. “Hadn’t thought o that,” he admitted. Not that they had much in the way of choices of cheese anymore. They got by, and it was good when someone had a skill that helped out when it came to keeping some of the old ways alive. ‘Judith’s too smart for that to work,’ he admitted quickly. And R.J. would do whatever his sister did. So if they succeeded with her, they’d succeed with both of them.
When she stepped closer to him and kissed him, he felt his cheeks growing warm once again. He was going to have to get himself under control, or she’d just have him in a pool of mush if he wasn’t careful. He licked his lips then, holding the dirty dishes out to the side so that he didn’t bump them into her as he kissed her once more.
'That one was just because I wanted to.’ He carried the dishes to the sink, placing them inside it and looking for the dish cloth as he knew he needed to get the kitchen back in working order. Michonne wouldn’t like it if he let them pile up. If he wanted the kids to mind him, he had to keep things as normal as possible. Their mother ran a tight ship.
