quasi-normalcy:

big-mood-energy:

quasi-normalcy:

‘Star Wars’ and 'Harry Potter’ are two franchises that try to claim, textually, that it doesn’t really matter who your family is whilst showing subtextually that it unequivocally does matter who your family is.

subtext isn’t a thing dude

Welp, there’s my entire literature degree disproven.

Imagine Eris Asks Nesta to dance with him and Cassian is all like “no, he’s bad” and she says “well then I guess it’s a perfect fit. I mean, what better match to him than someone whose sister’s love is given despite their best judgment?”

And then she passes her drink to Cassian and walks off onto the dance floor with Eris while Cassian watches like a sad toddler

And Eris is actually good! And he and Nesta were in perfect symphony. Eyes glued to each other, and Nesta actually has a slight lift on her lips.. not a smile.. but almost. And Cass is so god damn jealous and in awe at the same time, he doesn’t know what to do with himself.

And as he watches them conquer the dance floor, two people that lie at opposite sides of his heart, all he sees is the light fade in Nesta’s eyes that one wintery night as he tears down the last piece of her that was left standing. He hears his words slice through her with a ferocity he did not believe they carried.

Now, her eyes shine, a graceful smile spread across her lips, in the arms of a male he despises. In the arms of another male entirely. His wings drew in tighter as his clenched hand around the glass sends spider lines along the cup, and blood red wine spills through his fingers.

This is just…. 👌🏻👌🏻 CHEF’S KISS

Lucien treats Eris like Feyre treats Nesta

Even though Eris refused to hurt Lucien and his girlfriend

Even though the Archeron father was alive and well (and certainly capable of setting up animal traps)

Nesta and Eris have been prosecuted by the fullest extent of the fandom because of the opinions other people have of them

Mor trash talks Eris, the IC hates him

Feyre trash talks Nesta, the IC hates her

I’m on the Nesta Defense Squad and now I have to be on the Eris Defense Squad too??

Y’all!!! Read the damn book properly the first time!!

Eris did nothing wrong to Mor

Her family nailed a note to her chest after beating her, NOT ERIS

By refusing to marry her, he did her a kindness!!! She said she would rather bleed out than marry him!!

People going off saying Eris isn’t to be sympathized with or that he’s evil because he called Mor a bad name or that he’s the devil incarnate… ya’ll really are new to this game huh???

Listen to be clear I am Nessian 100% unless something massive happens in this book, BUT…

Everyone needs to fuck off with their Eris hypoocracy. He had a hard as fuck life with a tyrant father and a mother who is practically a shell of herself. He did the RIGHT THING by Mor and I don’t care WHO thinks I’m lying here. He let her go so that she could be herself because he saw how badly she didn’t want him.

Yeah, he insulted her. With sexual words even. What a completely unforgivable thing…. OH WAIT EXCEPT THAT RHYs PAINTED FEYRE UP NAKED AND MADE HER GIVE HIM LAP DANCES LIKE HIS OWN PERSONAL STRIPPER FOR DAYS AND WEEKS ON END AND HE IS FORGIVABLE???!?!?!

“But Rhys had his reasons”

“Rhys meant the best”

“Rhys was in a hard position”

YEAH WELL WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT ERIS’ REASONS ARE.

We don’t know his situation other than that he let Mor go and only pretends to hate her to save face. We know that he tried to MAKE Beron fight in the war. We know that he made a covert deal with your own precious IC to overthrow the tyrant that is Beron.

Everyone is so desperate for two dimensional villains that they easily forget that no one is the villain in their own story and that the exploration of three dimensional characters is what makes SJM books so intriguing.

I said this exact same thing on Twitter and nesta antjs attacked me saying they wished Nesta’s abuser/almost rapist would show up in the book too

nessian-archeron:

“Good to know that after five hundred years, you still dress like a slut.”

That’s Eris Vanserra.

He called Morrigan a “slut” because of her clothes. Saying that this male is better than Cassian it’s a shame.

Eris ended the engagement with Mor because he knew she didn’t want it.

Eris refused to be present for the torture and execution of Jesminda.

Eris ensured Lucien made it to Spring so he would survive.

Eris has shown through body language to be protective of his mother.

Eris has been brought up under a tyrannical father who is also his high lord, in a court that is notorious for being two faced. A court where it is nearly impossible to survive without being cruel. Eris is presented as also being two faced, showing moments of benevolency in between his arrogance.

Eris has been shown to not be wholly good, but not wholly bad either. It’s almost like he’s a complex character in a complex court that we don’t know a whole lot about right now but what has been made clear by Maas’s context clues is that he is expected to behave a certain way in the public eye given his father is an ancient and cruel high lord.

But yeah let’s get upset because he said Mor dressed like a slut and thus he’s the epitome of all evil. I absolutely understand not slut shaming but this is a fantasy setting that has clear indications of taking place during an older time where women were, unfortunately, viewed as beneath men. It’s not a 2021 social narrative.

Why y’all continue to project a modern social and political narrative onto a medieval fantasy world is beyond me.

He didn’t do anything to Mor. Her family did. He didn’t want to be in that arranged marriage either. Everyone who hates him ignores crucial details about his character.

Mor and Eris have both wronged each other. Slut-shaming her is just an easy insult, there’s no deeper meaning behind it. Obviously it’s not okay to do, but it’s also not okay that Eris has been repeatedly assaulted by the IC because Mor acts like Eris abused her when it was only her family that physically hurt her.

Cassian idolizes feysands relationship yet he cant love nesta loudly, publicly and passionately in the same way that feysand do and that doesnt sit right with me. If theres one thing that cassian should learn from rhysand its putting your woman first. I can fault rhys on many, many things but I cant fault him on this. He loves feyre and everyone knows it. Cassian loves nesta but at this point he finds it easier to express his love for everyone else before he expresses his to her and that’s douchey.

Maybe he’d be more honest with Nesta is she actually made an effort to treat him well

They were both crass to each other so i dont know why you’ve placed the blame on nesta. And nesta never once insinuated that hes unlovable but cassian did. So to you shes still the one not treating him well?

Plus, everyone acts as if Cassian being mean to Nesta is a consequence of HER actions towards him as if he did not say this to her the first time they’ve ever met :

He started the bickering. Why is she the one held accountable for reacting to his hostility?

Some of the Nesta antis out there really do not what psychological abuse is. It is not the same thing as being mean to someone— if that was the case then Nesta and Feyre were both psychologically abusing each other back in that cabin, and the bat boys having been doing that to each other and all of Prythian for centuries

I blame woke culture for this. Its got people thinking that they’ve got degrees in every social injustice in the world that they can attach terms to whatever they deem is wrong when its completely unnecessary. Clearly unaware of the fact that its causing far more harm than good. Loosely throwing around these terms desensitizes the public and actually obscures real victims of those said injustices.

I think people are also very selective of when they want to apply their morals. If they really cared about being ethical or moral, they wouldn’t bend over backwards to justify everything Rhys did to Feyre and his people. Instead, they use it to vilify an individual who was in an abusive situation (that her father created) and did not handle well. I don’t like the fact that Feyre had to be the one to go out hunting when they were kids, that was not her responsibility— but it was also not Nesta’s nor Elain’s responsibility. It was their father’s. The only abuse that occurred in that cabin was at his neglectful hands. I can’t blame any sister for how they reacted because they didn’t bring that situation upon themselves.

Exactly!! And even then if hes disability prevented him from hunting, why didnt he take on any domestic chores? Why did he watch his daughter tear into each other and said nothing to stop them and then taught them how to treat each other better. These are simple things that he could’ve done but didnt as the mature party, yet all the blame is on nesta just because shes 3 years older? When a parent is neglectful you don’t blame the child, you blame the parent and people who believe otherwise shouldnt have kids or be around kids at all.

If ACOTAR was in third person, people would be have shipped Cassian and Feyre in ACOMAF because of how nice he was to her and how Rhys flat out said Cassian would sleep with Feyre if she asked. But people look at their ship like a brother-sister relationship because we see Feyre’s thoughts throughout.

This is partially why I’m reluctant to look at Elriel as a romantic pairing, because Azriel and Elain have the same sort of relationship as Cassian and Feyre (and Az isn’t even mentioned to find Elain attractive). I don’t see them progressing any farther than friends, but we would need to see their perspectives like we saw Feyre in order to confirm anything. All have right now is Feyre speculation and she is already a very unreliable narrator and poor judge of everyone around her.

nessianisbestian:

I have often thought that Nesta’s power isn’t death

First, because Feyre is convinced it is death. And When has Feyre ever been known to truly get her sister?

Second, it was said at one point that Nesta took from the cauldron everything it had taken from her. It is assumed she got the death powers because it had killed her but in reality the cauldron was also giving her life, a new life.

Third, I think often because if Nesta’s bluntness and brutality in conversation it is thought that she is similar to death. But no we know she is sensitive and caring behind her outer wall. She is life and creation more than death and killing

Fourth, just because the bone carver heard of Nests dosent mean she is death. She could be deaths greatest enemy - life

Nesta is life she is creation she is a new beginning
