Lucio plays the quads/toms and he is insane with them. He regularly does tricks and especially the "playing the toms while someone holds you upside-down". Never looks at sheet music just improvs everything.
widow most definitely does colorguard but i could also see her playing the piccolo or the oboe just to play something extra
there's the obvious "sigma is the drum major" option but could i suggest orisa? I think the idea of her being a living metronome very funny. Like she tries to conduct but if someone starts rushing she will literally just start "BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP"
Has no one created a overwatch marching band au?? If so should I make one, I have some ideas for some characters.
Here’s some of what they play
• Junkrat - Snare
• D.va - Flute or Clarinet
• Mei - Flute
• 76 and Reaper - Band instructors
• Tracer - Trumpet
Give me some ideas for the others :)

The Egg Has to Go
I wrote this a while ago and it's kind of irrelevant now, but this was my headcanon of how the red banquet could have gone. Obvious canon divergence. Just Foolish having main character energy
!! Content Warning: implied drugging?, manipulation, brainwashing, zombie like imagery, mild depictions of violence, has hbomb in it (again this was written like, the week of the banquet before anything happened)
Summary: Foolish quickly realizes that the Red Banquet is not what it seems.
Foolish entered the grand hall that Bad and Ant had built for the Red Banquet. The event was beginning to be well known throughout the smp, and Foolish had accepted his invite on a whim, expecting to be able to put an end to the egg then. Oh, how he was wrong. He was running late as his duties at the temple took him a little longer than expected. But he was here now, quietly mingling with Niki and H. He absent-mindedly tightened his tie as Bad lightly tapped his silverware on his glass.
The clink of the dinnerware got everyone to quiet down and their attention on Bad. "I'd like to propose a toast. To a new era of peace on the server." He called out, raising his glass in the air. Everyone followed suit, Foolish only doing so half-heartedly as to not draw attention. The crowd in the room called out cheers before taking a drink from the glasses.
The liquid in the glass was.... strange. It was a deep red. Much.... much deeper than any wine Foolish had ever seen. Considering that, and the fact he was still suspicious of how he witnessed Bad and the others celebrate over Tommy's death, he didn't drink it. He raised the glass to his lips, tilting it to act like he was taking a sip when in reality his lips were sealed tight. He lowered the glass without a word, trying to ignore the feeling that someone was watching him.
That's when HBomb's words snapped him back to reality. "Uhh overworld to Foolish?" He said, moving to get himself in the totems field of vision.
Foolish shook his head slightly, blinking a few times. "I- what?" He asked, looking over at his 'manager.'
"What has gotten into you tonight?" Niki asked. Her tone was light, but Foolish knew there was genuine concern in her words as well.
Foolish hesitated for a moment before shrugging. "I don't know. Just have a bad feeling about tonight, I guess." He scanned the room, avoiding eye contact with anyone. He didn’t want to draw any extra attention to himself.
“Loosen up a bit, man. Tonight’s supposed to be fun, so let it be.” H said with a grin, leaning back in his seat and taking another drink from the glass.
Foolish didn’t respond to the words. He looked around again before standing up from his seat. “I’m gonna go look at the buffet, I’m starving.” He said, his tone returning to its usual lightheartedness, but it was completely fabricated. He didn’t want his friends to worry about him, but he really didn’t feel right about this whole thing. It was a little too… perfect.
He made his way up to the table lined with food, weaving through the crowd muttering short apologies as he went. He grabbed a plate and began looking over the options. He went to reach for the serving spoon for the mushroom stew before getting startled by Bad’s voice.
“So are you enjoying yourself, Foolish?” Bad said lightly. Foolish jumped slightly, letting go of the spoon and cringing at the clatter it made.
It was obvious that the friendly attitude that Bad displayed was a front. Foolish and Bad had been at each other's' throats over the Egg multiple times. The two were hardly even acquaintances. Their first interaction was rather neutral, sure, but the last couple of weeks Foolish has witnessed a turn. It wasn’t Bad’s fault of course; the Egg was only manipulating him to do its dirty work. But that didn’t mean Foolish had to like him either.
“Uh yeah! I’m doing okay, all things considered.” He said, putting up a similar front. He didn’t want Bad to suspect anything, although if Bad had come over to talk to him, he obviously knew something was up. “What would you recommend from the selection? There’s too much up here for me to decide.” He asked, a light laugh coming from him.
Bad hummed in amusement. “I’d say you made the right choice with the stew.” He mused. He watched Foolish nod and begin serving himself a helping of the stew.
“Oh Foolish, by the way, I’d love to get your opinion on the wine! You’ve been around a while so I’d assume you’d know a thing or two about good wine.” Bad asked. If Foolish hadn’t known better, he would have assumed that Bad was being genuine. Something was definitely wrong with the wine. What it was, Foolish didn’t know. But he knew one thing: he absolutely was not going to drink it.
Here’s the problem. Foolish didn’t know anything about wine. He needed a clear head while guarding the temple so he avoided alcohol as a whole. He really had no idea what to say about it, but he knew he had to come up with something quick.
He looked the demon up and down before replying. “Yeah it was good. Probably not the best I’ve ever had, but it definitely was up there. It had good… earthy undertones,” he said, hesitating slightly.
Bad hummed slightly, as if he knew that Foolish was bluffing. “I see. Well I’m glad that it’s enjoyable. It cost Ponk an arm and a leg to get the cask from a village due south. And you know, he’s already down an arm,” Bad said, giggling softly at his own joke.
Foolish laughed too, a slight hint of nervousness behind it. Foolish looked down at his dish of stew before back up at Bad. “Well, I’m gonna head back to Niki and H, I don’t want to keep them waiting.” He said sheepishly.
“I’ll see you later then, Foolish. Bad said, grinning and walking away, still laughing at his joke. Though once he was out of earshot of the totem, he grumbled lightly. “Why does he constantly have to ruin my plans?” he muttered before going to find Antfrost or Punz to ask them what they should do.
Foolish made his way back to the table, trying to mask his growing anxiety about this whole situation. Something was wrong here, and he wanted nothing more than to leave and go back to the temple.
He sat back down to hear Niki rambling about the construction of her new city. It was a noble project, but it took a lot of work for it to be functional.
“Oh by the way Niki, if you need me to come back and work on fixing up that waterfall area, just holler.” Foolish interjected.
Niki chuckled lightly. “No, no it’s fine. I’ve been working on it a bit and I think I’ve gotten it the way I want it for now.” She said.
“Plus, would you even have time with all those build projects you have going on? I have you booked for Tubbo, and Kin-”
“First of all, HBomb, you don’t have me booked for anything. Second of all, I'll always make time for my friends. You guys need help? I'm right there, okay?" Foolish said. He flashed a bright smile before taking a spoonful of the stew.
The three continued to chat about things. HBomb complained that no one had signed up for maid service in a while, Niki spoke cryptically about a trip to Snowchester she took with Phil, and Foolish rambled on about the progress of the mansion and his future plans.
The banquet hall slowly began to quiet down as the night progressed. The pair in front of him had gone through two glasses of wine and Foolish had yet to take a sip.
"Foolish, aren't you thirsty? You've barely touched your wine." Niki asked, her tone still light.
Foolish looked up from his dish. "Uh, it's just really not my favor-" his voice dying out as he finally took in his surroundings. How had he been so oblivious?
The Egg was glowing a soft red and emitting a low hum. The walls looked… well, looked like they were dripping with the wine in his glass. The room was dead quiet, eerily quiet, other than the hum of the egg that he could feel in his bones.
"Foolish, come on. Don't be silly. It's really good wine, I would know," HBomb said. The friendliness in his voice oozed with tension. His smile was too wide, too forced.
The realization hit Foolish like a ton of bricks. His eyes flicked from H's tense smile to his eyes. The bright blue was replaced with a deep, off-putting red. It was a similar color to the wine, but they looked as if they were glowing similarly to the Egg in the corner of the room.
Further observation showed that it wasn't only H. As he looked around the room, not only were everyone's eyes a monstrous red, but they were all trained on the totem's figure.
He had to leave. He had to get away. But where? The Egg was spread all around the smp. Even if he could get back to the Temple, Bad and his crew have proved they aren't scared of trespassing on Temple grounds. But the Temple was his only shot. Everywhere else was too vulnerable.
Foolish laughed nervously. "Well, I think I should be going now. I have a big day of building tomorrow. Need to be well rested, you know?" He said, standing up. He slowly began moving toward the exit.
"Foolish, please. Stay and enjoy the night with us." Bad said, standing up as well.
"Yeah, Foolish. Don't be difficult." Punz called out.
No one else in the room reacted. They only stared blankly at Foolish.
Foolish laughed lightly. A smirk coming across his features. "I think I've proven multiple times that I'm not scared of you and your Egg, Bad." He muttered.
"Maybe you should be." The demon spat back. Any false friendliness that was in his voice before was gone.
Foolish's smirk only grew. "Obviously you haven't learned anything from our past encounter. Don't be foolish, Bad." He said, his voice lacking any emotion. He wasn't angry or upset at all. If anything, his tone was just smug.
Bad just glared, and Punz seemed like he was itching to aim his crossbow and put an arrow through Foolish's chest. He didn't have much time left to figure out his escape route.
"Or perhaps I'm the foolish one… for not taking care of that pathetic Egg sooner."
In a split second decision, Foolish grabbed his trident and threw it at the Egg. Sparks of electricity spread throughout the corner of the room and into the shape in the corner of the room. The Egg let out a shrill scream, and the guests in the hall grabbed covered their ears and let out groans of pain.
Foolish took this as a chance to escape. He called back his trident, which left a sizable crack in the shell of the egg. He threw an enderpearl toward the water elevator at the edge of the room.
"GET HIM!" The Egg cried out. The horde of mind controlled puppets reacted instantly. But Foolish simply saluted the crowd before hopping into the water elevator.
Once he hit the ground, he was running. His heart was pounding in his ears as he ran through the land of the Dream SMP. He needed to get to the community portal. If he didn't travel through the Nether, there was no way he'd make it by foot. He ran through the remains of the community house before hurrying up the stairs to the portal.
An arrow, dipped in some potion, lodged itself into the obsidian of the nether portal, but Foolish was already gone. He sprinted as fast as he could while still being observant to the difficult terrain of the Nether. One wrong move could send him into the pit of lava. And it didn't make it any easier that he had a swarm of armed Eggheads behind him.
He dodged arrows left and right, some of them on fire, some of them potion tipped. He looked behind him to see Punz throw an enderpearl in his direction. Foolish grabbed his own bow, lining up the shot and shooting the enderpearl in mid air, sending Punz falling onto the netherrack below him. Foolish finally made it to the portal that led to his summer home.
Standing in the obsidian frame, he lit a block of TNT and left it on the other side of the portal, faintly hearing the explosion as he appeared on the other side of the portal, his summer home lightly glowing in the distance.
He took a moment to use his pickaxe to break the frame of the portal, just as a safety precaution. He ran to the temple, breathing hard. He didn't stop until he reached the heart of the temple. He slumped down, the cool glass of the beacon against his back.
He took a few deep breaths, hands shaking slightly. The distorted faces of his friends were stuck in the back of his mind. They tried to kill him, they…
He couldn't think like that. It wasn't their fault. It was the Egg's. He tried to push the image of his friends away as he thought about the monumental task that was just placed on his shoulders….
The Egg has to go.

Eternalduo (Eret and Foolish) origin story fanfic? Yes please!
- They/Them pronouns for Eret
- Loosely based on "Peace and Love on the Planet Earth" from Steven Universe
!! Content Warning: Nothing.
Summary: Foolish wakes up in the mortal realm, completely unaware of how it works. When he stumbles into Eret's kingdom, friendship ensues.
Foolish woke up under a canopy of trees. Dim beams of sunlight shone through the leaves of the tall oak trees. Birds chirped lightly in the trees. He blinked slightly, eyes adjusting to the lack of light. Then a figure covered his vision.
The totem shouted, scurrying backward until his back hit the trunk of a tree. Birds squeaked and flew from the tree. Foolish began speaking quickly. “Get away from me. Don’t come any closer. What the-”
He was cut off by a long:
Baaaaa
Foolish stopped speaking, the fear slowly leaving his eyes. “What are you?” He asked.
The creature let out another noise before beginning to munch on the grass.
“Can you at least tell me where I am?”
Baaaaa
“How did I get here? Why aren’t you saying anything?”
It looked up at him, not a thought behind its eyes.
Foolish raised an eyebrow before slowly standing up. “Fine then, keep your secrets.” He said spitefully. He hesitated and took cautious steps away from the beast. It didn’t react, so Foolish moved faster to get away.
It didn’t take him long to realize that this was not the realm he was used to. The Godly Realm was much, much brighter than this. And there wasn’t much grass, and this certainly wasn’t the temple he was used to.
“Oh Gods,” He muttered in annoyance. He was no longer in the Godly Realm after all… this is the mortal realm. He rubbed his furrowed brow, closing his eyes and sighing. He didn’t remember how he was put down here, but he knew it was probably a punishment for something.
He moved out of the forest and moved towards the only signs of civilization he could find. A large village was in the distance. Houses made of stone and wood encircled a large, grand structure, seemingly a castle, in the center of the village.
Foolish wandered around the streets, eyes on him. He was definitely out of place here. His golden skin stuck out like a sore thumb. These creatures were definitely different from him, and they knew that too.
He eventually made his way to a marketplace. The bustling environment was just busy enough to allow him to blend in. He stopped paying attention to where he was walking taking in the scenery around him. However, he quickly began paying attention again when he was collided with, falling backward onto the cobblestone street below.
“Oh, I am so sorry.” Their deep voice rang out, adjusting their cloak. They offered Foolish a hand. He pulled himself up, dusting off his attire.
“It’s okay, don’t worry about it.” He said lightly. Foolish looked up, emerald eyes meeting… sunglasses. It was rather peculiar; through the sunglasses appeared to be a light, but it must have been a trick of the mind.
The stranger took in Foolish’s appearance before smirking slightly. “You’re not from around here, are you?” They said, almost knowingly.
Foolish hesitated for a moment. Why should he tell them anything? The two just met less than a minute ago. But he needed to figure out what was happening and why he found himself in the mortal realm. He laughed lightly. “Not exactly.” He rubbed the back of his neck lightly.
The stranger nodded slightly. “I think I understand.” They said. They looked around the crowd before adjusting the sunglasses. “Well, do you want to come with me? I might be able to help you figure out some things.” They suggested.
He opened his mouth, intending to refuse the offer. He had just met the mortal, how was he supposed to trust them? For all he knew this might just be a ruse to steal from him. Not that Foolish had any belongings to get stolen.
The totem looked around before sighing in defeat. He didn’t have many other options other than going with them. “Sure, that would be helpful.” he conceded.
The stranger offered the god their hand. He took it apprehensively as they began to weave through the crowd of townspeople. They moved toward the center of the village, toward the grand stone castle. Rainbow banners adorned the large, sturdy cobblestone walls surrounding the castle. There was a set of large wooden doors set in a stone archway. The place seemed fit for a king, something the cloaked stranger definitely wasn’t. But that didn’t stop them from their trajectory to the doors.
Foolish trailed behind, slowly getting more confused by their actions. “Are you sure you know where you’re going?” He questioned.
They let out a low chuckle. Shaking their head, the stranger replied. “I’m fairly certain.” The stranger looked back at him with a light smirk, mumbling something, but the words were lost among the noise of the crowd around them.
The totem followed hesitantly. They did not seem to stop their approach to the castle doors. Foolish waited for a moment or two for them to change their path, and of course, they didn’t waver. “See, the only reason I doubt that is because you seem to be heading right for the castle doors and-” he started before trailing off.
The two stopped at the large wooden doors. Foolish seemed dumbfounded as the stranger lowered the hood of their cloak. The guards gave a curt bow to them before opening the doors.
The King took a few steps into the castle grounds before turning back to the god. A smirk adorned their features. “So are you gonna come in or what?” They asked in a teasing manner.
Foolish cleared his throat, clamoring to regain his composure. “Yeah, of course.” He said quickly, moving to follow the seemingly unbothered king. He couldn’t believe that happened. He just completely embarrassed himself in front of the ruler of the town he found himself in. Surely they would find that disrespectful. “Your Highness, I am so sorry, I-” He started, trailing off when he heard them chuckle.
“There’s no need for the formalities.” They said with a wave of the hand. Foolish blinked a few times, trying to wrap his brain around this situation. “Especially because I believe that your title may supersede mine.” They said, giving a knowing look.
Foolish let out a sigh of relief. So they were aware of his godhood. That was relieving to know, but also terrifying. Were they planning something? What were they going to do with him? They didn’t seem to have any bad intentions, but who knows?
He didn’t get a chance to say anything in response, as a servant approached them with their crown. The ruler ran a hand through their curled locks. They rested the crown on their head while listening to the servant’s word. The crown sat gracefully on their dark hair; it looked like it truly belonged on the silhouette of their regal figure.
“I’m going to take my guest to my chambers. In the meantime, can you prepare a room for him?” They said to the girl. She gave a nod before giving a bow of respect before heading off down a hallway.
They took a deep breath before turning back to Foolish. “Sorry about that. I know your time is valuable.” They said before continuing their way through the halls of the castle. Foolish looked around, getting caught up in the architecture and art along the walls. The place looked perfect. There wasn’t a single thing out of place or a thing the god would have changed if he was the one who built the palace.
The ruler moved toward a door, opening it slowly. “We can talk more here. I don’t want any listening ears to hear. Rumors spread like wildfire.” They said. They held the door open for Foolish to enter.
He entered the room, looking around. The quarters were definitely grand compared to a normal bedroom, but Foolish would consider them humble compared to what he expected from a king’s chamber. Light seeped in from the sheer curtains. The king led him to a sofa toward the corner of the bedroom, taking the cloak off and draping it across the bed, revealing formalwear. They must have worn the cloak as a disguise to go into the marketplace.
“Your Highness, I-”
The king chuckled, shaking their head. “I told you not to call me that, but I never introduced myself, how stupid was that.” They said lightly. They sat on the chair across from Foolish. “Please, call me Eret.”
Foolish was suddenly aware of the fact that he had never introduced himself either. “Well, it’s nice to meet you Eret. My name is Foolish.” He said with a grin.
“So what’s the occasion that our little kingdom is being visited by a god like yourself?” They asked softly. They adjusted their position in the chair before chuckling. “If I would have known you were visiting, I would have cleaned up a bit.” They said jokingly.
“Cleaned up a bit? This place looks pristine.” Foolish mused. He looked around the room with an excited smile. “Also, I love the architecture, and did you see the chandelier in the entrance hall, it’s amazing.”
The king chuckled. “I have seen the chandelier.” They said lightly.
Eret seemed like a weight lifted off their shoulders. Their posture was no longer as straight as a board, and their shoulders were considerably less tense. It had been so long since they were able to be this informal with someone. Everywhere else they were the King, but in this room with Foolish, they were Eret once again. In fact, it had been so long since they heard someone use their first name.
“But I highly doubt you came here just to compliment our castle, though I do appreciate it.” They said. They absentmindedly fidgeted with a button on their shirt, listening intently.
Foolish chuckled nervously. “That’s the thing.” He said. He took a deep breath, looking around the room. “I don’t remember what happened. I remember being in the realm of the gods, and then I remember waking up in the woods.” He was being straightforward because that’s all he knew. There wasn’t much else to say. “There was a creature who looked like a cloud and ate grass and he was not very helpful in my search for answers.” He began recounting the events of his arrival.
Eret laughed genuinely, a sound they hadn’t heard in a long time. They clearly overestimated how much understanding Foolish would have of the mortal realm. “It sounds like you ran into a sheep.” They said with a grin.
“Well, this sheep was not very helpful.” He said spitefully. He sighed in annoyance, to Eret’s amusement. He continued, losing his anger toward the animal. “I left him in the woods and I started walking toward your city. It was the only thing I saw.” He said.
Eret nodded. “I’m just wondering why you got sent here of all places.” They said before their face paled slightly. “Not that I don’t enjoy your company, that’s not what I meant. I just mean that our small kingdom is hardly worthy of a visit from a god.” They rambled nervously.
“Eret calm down, dude. I’m not gonna smite you or anything.” Foolish joked, laughing. Eret laughed, nervousness still filling his voice.
Once the moment passed, Eret looked up at him, bright eyes peering at him through their sunglasses. “If you don’t mind me asking, what are you the god of?” They asked. The kingdom wasn’t exactly known for being religious or knowing much about the pantheon of gods. They were free to practice any religion, and there wasn’t much of an emphasis on it anyway.
Foolish thought of a way to phrase it. “The easiest way I can explain it is ‘Undying’. I help things last. Permanence and equilibrium. Saying ‘the god of life’ doesn’t do it justice, because life implies death, implies an end. That’s just not what I do.” He said, being careful with his words. He didn’t want to be misinterpreted. He didn’t want Eret to assume he was something he’s not.
Eret listened, taking in everything he said. They nodded. “Well, we are happy to have your presence.” They said, giving a slight bow of the head.
“No, you don’t have to do that stuff. The bowing and formalities. I was never one for being worshipped. Just consider me a friend.” He said, a smile forming across his face.
They smiled slightly in response. “Of course.” They said. They leaned back in the chair, brushing a few loose curls from their eyes. “Although we will have to introduce you to the people. The whole marketplace saw you. I wouldn’t want any rumors to start to spread about your intentions. The last thing we need is an angry mob.” They said, furrowing their brow slightly as they thought.
“Oh well, that’s no problem. I can just go out and talk to them, I’ve always been a people person. I-” Foolish started, a grin on his face before Eret stopped him.
“No, no, no that won’t do.” They said, shaking their head. “I know you don’t like the formalities but I feel like your arrival warrants a bit more than a trip to the market.”
“So you’re gonna throw me a party?” He asked, growing excited.
“You could say that. A little bit more formal than that. I can have the tailor make you a formal outfit and I can have a banquet planned for the end of the week if you wish.” They said.
“What’s a banquet?”
Eret sighed, a soft smile appearing across their face. “A fancy word for a party.”
Foolish grinned. “I’m in.”
The next few days were filled with making preparations for the introductory banquet and getting used to the mortal realm. Foolish didn’t seem to have any of the powers he displayed in the realm of the gods, but he was hoping they would come back in time. What’s the point of a party if he couldn’t do his best party trick: summoning lightning?
He was still getting used to the kingdom. It was cold compared to the weather he was used to in his desert domain in the godly realm, but he was growing accustomed to it. He was also exploring the different options of food the castle could provide. He was a god, therefore he didn’t have to eat mortal food, but that didn’t mean it didn’t taste good.
Eret was helping Foolish adjust to his new situation. When they weren’t in meetings or busy preparing for the banquet, they would be introducing Foolish to concepts of the mortal realm. It didn’t always go well. They had to drag the disgruntled god from the royal stables when he began to give a sheep a piece of his mind, assuming it was the same unhelpful sheep he met on his first day.
But most of the time it went well. Seeing Foolish have a lack of understanding of basic concepts was quite funny, but Eret displayed nothing but overwhelming patience.
Eret was working hard to make the banquet a success. They didn’t just consider Foolish a royal asset like they believed he would be at their first meeting. They were growing to consider him a friend. And if the gods allowed it, they were going to throw their new friend the best banquet he could ever want.
Indeed, it was the best banquet he could ever want, because Foolish had no idea what to expect, and he had nothing to base his expectations on. When he walked into the ballroom, he was amazed. It was his first time in the room, and he was amazed by the architecture of the room. When he spent time building his own grand structures in his realm, he always struggled with the interior the most, so seeing such a magnificent design inspired awe.
Eret was busy getting any last-minute preparations in order when they noticed Foolish walk into the room. They finished up their conversation before heading in his direction.
“I hate to break it to you, Foolish, but you have your bow tie on upside down.”
Foolish broke his attention from the light fixture to his outfit. The tailor did a wonderful job on the suit, Foolish just had trouble putting the ensemble on correctly.
“Is it really that big of a deal?”
Eret laughed. “I suppose not.” They said. “It gives character.”
Foolish chuckled before giving a confused look. “Is that a good thing?”
“I’d say so.”
“Well, I’d say thanks.”
Eret raised an eyebrow at the weird wording of his reply before brushing it off. “Anyway the guests are expected to come any minute now. I’m probably just going to say a few words of an introduction and explanation, and you can say something if you want. No pressure or anything. Then it’ll just be kind of a mingling kind of situation.” They explained.
Foolish nodded slightly. “Rodger dodger.” He acknowledged.
It didn’t take long for the guests to start filing into the ballroom, chatting in hushed excitement over the expected announcement. They had all heard about the stranger with golden skin who wandered the marketplace, and no matter what kind of rumor they heard, they were excited to finally figure out the truth.
The king eventually stood up from their seat at the head table, smoothing out their semi-formal gown instinctively. They tapped their silverware against the champagne glass, the soft clinks enough to mostly quiet the crowd of guests.
“So by now, I’m assuming you’ve noticed the elephant in the room? Or should I say god in the room?”
Half the crowd responded with laughter, while the other gave gasps of surprise.
“Yes. Our small kingdom is being visited by a god for reasons unknown to myself, or himself for that matter. Foolish, the god of the undying, finds himself in the mortal realm for reasons he cannot remember, but I think it’s only right that we welcome him with open arms.”
The room started chattering, but Eret was quick to calm their concerns.
“I’m inviting him in as a friend, nothing like what you’re thinking, I can assure you of that. Over the past few days, I have been shown nothing but kindness from Foolish and I’d expect nothing less from him to you all.”
Foolish, seated at Eret’s right side, stood up. “Yeah, I’m not exactly into the whole ‘worshipping thing.’ I was thrown here by chance and I’m just here to help out... I think. I mean, I really don’t know what I was put down here for, but I’m gonna help regardless. I didn’t expect anything coming in here, but I’ve received a great friendship from your king and I’m hoping I can make even more friends and prove I’m here to help.” He said sincerely. He spoke informally at the start but quickly remembered the situation he was in. He began acting more proper, but it was clearly unnatural.
The room chuckled at his words.
Eret smiled, knowing that the words of kindness were probably the only genuine ones they had received in a long time. “I couldn’t have phrased it better myself.” They took a deep breath, gesturing to Foolish that he could return to his seat if he wanted. “So I arranged this banquet as a meet and greet situation. That way you all could get to know him better throughout the night. So enjoy yourselves.” They said before sitting back in their seat as well.
The meal went well, and the mingling was going even better. Foolish was a natural entertainer, and the people of the kingdom were loving him. Any fears in their minds dissipated, surely he had no bad intentions.
As the night began to a close, Foolish began to look for Eret. His main objective was to thank them, but he had a couple questions in mind as well. He eventually found them on the balcony. Their silhouette outlines by the moonlight as they leaned against the banister, gazing at the stars.
“Did I scare you off with my extremely charming personality?” Foolish mused with a toothy grin.
Eret chuckled lightly. “More like with your extremely inflated ego.” They retorted, but the smile on their face showed there was no seriousness behind his words.
Foolish laughed too, joining them along the banister.
They looked back out to the horizon. “It’s nothing you did; the parties have always gotten a little too overwhelming for me. Sometimes it’s just nice to take a break and get some fresh air.”
Foolish paused for a moment. “Yeah, I can’t relate.” He said bluntly. “Anyway, I have a couple of questions before you mortals make no sense to me.”
The royal laughed. “Go on.”
“What’s that noise I keep hearing?”
Eret looked back at him. “What do you mean?” He furrowed his brow slightly, assuming that this was a genuine problem.
Foolish, too, seemed confused. “You don’t hear it? It’s like-” he started before hesitantly humming the tune of the melody of the string quartet playing on the stage in the ballroom. “It’s fainter now, but I think it’s coming from those guys with the wooden weapons.”
Eret looked at Foolish, trying to read if he was joking. “You have to be kidding me.” They said lightheartedly.
Foolish only shook his head, his look only becoming more confused.
Eret covered their mouth, laughing the hardest they have in a long time. “Foolish that’s music. They’re playing the music on their instruments. Those aren’t weapons.”
“What are you talking about?”
“It’s music. It’s a form of art.”
“What’s the point?”
Eret slowly stopped laughing, realizing this would be harder to explain than he thought. He never really thought about it.
“It’s harmony and melody, two forces that are tugging at each other but ultimately work together to form the beauty you’re hearing..”
“But once it’s over, it’s gone. It’s forgotten.”
“But the emotions and memories it leaves behind aren’t.”
Foolish opened his mouth to say something, but stopped. He contemplated the other’s words for a moment. He was used to permanence, to constancy. Everything here in this realm was temporary, but it sure was beautiful.
In the moment, he wondered if his and Eret’s friendship would remain a constant. He hoped it would be.
He had no idea how quickly he would be proven wrong.
The silence was nice. It was comfortable. But it too wasn’t permanent.
“Thank you. For the banquet, and for everything before that too. If you hadn’t taken me in I’d probably still be harassing that sheep. It means a lot.” Foolish said. His eyes didn’t leave the horizon.
Eret slowly smiled. “I should be thanking you actually.” They said. They brushed a few curls from their eyes. “Our friendship has helped me more than you could ever know.”
They stared out to the horizon, both enjoying the quiet moment and wondering what would come next for them. The refrain of the quartet humming in their ears as they took in the fresh air.
Eret was the first one to break the silence. “I’ll help you get back to your realm, if that’s what you wish. But until you find your way, you’ll always have a place at my side.”
Foolish couldn’t help but smile, emerald eyes looking over at them. “And you have a place at mine.”
As the music faded away and the crowd dispersed, the pair’s friendship was set in stone.
This nice, tender moment would live in their minds forever.
Well… one of their minds at least

“I’m a Monster”
Just a Foolish and Puffy Family Dynamic Hurt/Comfort fic. Comes directly after Foolish’s second lore stream in canon. Cross-posted from AO3
Characters: Captain Puffy, Foolish, Awesamdude, Ponk (mentioned), BadBoyHalo (mentioned), HannahxxRose (mentioned)
!! Content Warning: just a hurt/comfort fic, light angst, spoilers for Foolish’s latest lore stream
Summary: After the conflict with the Eggpire, Foolish struggles with his feelings and memories of his past and Puffy talks him out of it.
Puffy was walking up the prime path towards the community house, heading to Foolish’s summer home to give him some of the gold she had collected while on her latest mining trip. To be completely honest, she didn’t really have a use for it, and her son needed it for his build, so she was happy to give it to him. That’s when she noticed an extremely nervous Sam exit the community portal.
“Sam?” Puffy asked, causing the creeper hybrid to jump. Puffy’s voice softened only slightly at his reaction. “What’s got you all worked up?”
Sam cleared his throat, stumbling over his words. How would he explain this to her? There’s no way that Puffy would take kindly to him saying that he was scared by her son. “Um, it’s nothing. It’s definitely nothing,” He said quickly, moving to walk past her.
Puffy sighed, grabbing his shoulder to stop him from leaving. It was definitely something. “Sam?” she said sternly, like she would scold a child.
Sam groaned. “Listen, you aren’t gonna like this, but Foolish did some freaky stuff at the temple and I do not have the time or energy to process how much that scared me, okay? I have to go help Han-” he started, speaking fast and nervously once again.
“What do you mean ‘freaky stuff?’” Puffy asked.
“The man can summon lightning! He practically smited Bad, Ant, and Ponk right in front of me because they-”
“Wait, wait, wait! What were Bad and the others doing there?” Puffy asked, concern growing in her voice.
Sam shrugged slightly. “I don’t know, apparently Ponk threatened Foolish or something and-”
“Did you know about this?” She asked, growing angry. Did Sam know about this and not tell her?
“No, Puffy! Of course not!” Sam said, growing increasingly exasperated with how long this conversation was taking. He began to walk off, turning around to talk to her. “Listen I don’t exactly know what happened, but your son is really strange and slightly terrifying, okay? I have to go. I have to find Hannah. I have to make sure she’s okay. I have-”
“Sam?” Puffy called, setting aside her anger for a moment. He stopped talking and moving, looking up at her. “Good luck.” She said gently. Sam nodded before taking off.
Puffy stopped for a moment, trying to comprehend Sam’s words before she realized that she had places to be. She had to get to Foolish, and if Sam was telling the truth, she had to move with some urgency. She navigated through the Nether, trying to hurry through the harsh terrain as fast and as safely as possible. She needed to get to her son as soon as possible, but if she fell into the lava below the bridge, that defeated her sense of her urgency.
Once she exited the Nether through the Portal that led to Foolish’s summer home, she instantly knew something was wrong. The hair on her arms stood on end like there was a static electric charge in the air. There was also a strong smell of gunpowder and smoke. In fact, there was still some smoke hanging in the air.
And then it hit her. There was a sudden absence of the large, towering statue of Ra that normally stands out over the landscape. Why did it take her so long to notice it? Now there was only a pile of rubble where the statue once stood.
As she moved closer, the static electricity grew stronger. The hair on her head began to stand on end. She smoothed it down with a quick gesture. Looking down at the path, she noticed a large scorch mark in the cobblestone path along with a large fissure in the path. This definitely confused her. Nothing she knew of could have caused such a fissure. It definitely wasn’t from TNT. She pressed on, making sure to not get any of the ash on her boots.
Puffy looked over the statue once more before heading towards the Temple. She figured that’s where he would be if he was even still here. She also noticed the absence of her son’s cat, Nefrekitty. The cat usually found its way to Puffy and rubbed against her legs as she headed into the temple, but she assumed that the cat was comforting Foolish at the moment rather than waiting for visitors.
She entered the large entrance of the temple, looking around for a moment to take in its grandiosity. It took her breath away every time visited. She could never begin to comprehend how long it took Foolish to build all of this. It was exquisitely crafted. The sandstone was carved with such precision that she would have assumed it was the work of a machine, but she had seen her adopted son carve the stone with his own two hands.
Her eyes were drawn into the center of the room, where usually a beacon shined brightly in the middle of a pile of riches mortals could only dream about obtaining in a lifetime. Instead, the beacon was shut off, and the totem sat with his knees pulled into his chest, sobbing quietly.
Puffy saw red instantly. What did Sam do to him? Who made him this upset? She would get to the bottom of this no matter what she had to do.
But then she took a deep breath… getting angry wouldn’t fix anything. In fact, it would probably only upset Foolish more to see her that upset. She took a few centering breaths before approaching him quietly.
She opened her mouth to speak but paused, realizing she had no idea how to approach the situation. She didn’t even know what happened! How was she supposed to help him when she didn’t know what she was helping him with?!
Puffy figured that her son was unaware of her presence, but that obviously proved to be false as he reacted to her hesitation.
“Let me guess, you’re scared of me too?” He asked, his tone bitter. Much more bitter than he had ever spoken to Puffy before. It was almost like he realized how harsh his tone was, as only a second later he started crying harder. He gripped his knees tighter, not able to do much other than cry.
Puffy tensed up slightly. She didn’t even know where this came from. Was this her fault?
No, now wasn’t the time for that train of thought. She could self reflect later; she needed to help comfort her son. That was her job, and she needed to do it right this time because maybe, just maybe she can stop Foolish from going down a similar path to her other son.
She dropped to her knees in front of him, wrapping her arms around his trembling frame. He reacted almost instantly, hugging her tightly and crying into her shoulder. She rubbed his back lightly, trying to comprehend the amount of emotion he was displaying. She’d never even seen Foolish cry since he was much younger, let alone full out sob like this.
“I would never be scared of you Foolish,” She said softly. She gripped him a little tighter, as if punctuating her sentence. “I could never be-” she started again before he pulled away. He scurried backwards away from her, not looking his mother in the eyes.
“You don’t know what I did! You don’t know what I’ve done!” He yelled. He held his head in his hands, choking back a sob. “I thought I moved on; I thought I changed. I’m not like that anymore.”
“Foolish-” Puffy started, a slight scold to her tone. She figured he was being dramatic. She had absolutely no idea what he was talking about.
“I’m a monster, Puffy!” He shouted in between sobs. He gripped his hair in his fingers, pulling on it lightly. “I thought I moved on from my past, but today I was right back there. Today there was a flicker of who I used to be and I-” He started, getting cut off by another cry erupting from his throat.
Puffy was absolutely frozen. She had no idea how to react to this. “Foolish?” She started, her tone much softer this time. The totem looked up slightly, sniffling softly. “Do you want to talk about what happened?” She asked. There was no way she would be able to help him if she didn’t know what was happening.
Foolish took a few deep breaths, trying to calm himself enough to speak to her. He wiped the tears from his cheeks, sniffling before getting to explaining the events of the day.
“Well, Ponk, Bad, and Ant came over to harass me about that stupid egg again. I tried to ignore it for so long but it just came back with a vengeance. They kept putting TNT in my builds and threatening to blow it up. And then they came while Sam was visiting and-” He started before getting visibly upset again. Tears fell from his eyes once more.
Puffy leaned forward, putting her hand on his shoulder gently. He looked up at her, being greeted by a soft smile. “You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to Fool,” She said, using her nickname for him, “I just figured it might be beneficial to get this off your chest.”
Foolish nodded slightly. Deep down he knew she was right, but he didn’t want to tell her at all. What would happen if she found out what he did and was scared of him? Rightfully, she should be scared of him, but the last thing he wanted was for his own Papa Puffy to be scared of him. Because then who else would he have on the server… other than Junior of course.
“They blew up the statue, and-” he started, pausing when his breathing hitched, although his voice stronger than before, “ and they killed my cat and they kept threatening me and-”
He stopped, contemplating if he really wanted to tell Puffy this.
“And?” She ushered gently.
“And then I just got so mad. I was so angry and upset and I-” he started, choking on his words. “I struck them with lightning.”
Puffy didn’t outwardly react knowing that would elicit a negative response from Foolish, but that surprised her. Foolish was generally a pacifist, letting his words fight his battles.
“I just got so mad and I didn’t mean to, I promise. I didn’t mean to do it, Papa, I promise.” He sputtered out, just now looking up at her. His emerald eyes pleaded for her to say anything.
Puffy grabbed his hand gently, but Foolish pulled it away, He didn’t want to hurt her. She was really all he had left. He didn’t want to make her leave too.
“I know you didn’t mean to, Fool.”
“It was an accident. I know they aren’t bad people. They don’t have control over their actions, but I just got so mad and it just happened and then Sam, he-”
“What did Sam do?” Puffy asked, tensing up just enough to be noticeable.
“He was so scared, Puffy. He ran off without saying anything but I knew. He thinks I’m a monster. And I am! Bad, Ant, and Ponk aren’t perfect but they didn’t deserve that!” He said, his voice growing increasingly upset as he rambled on.
“Hey, hey, hey.” she said softly. She reached for his shoulder again, but he lunged forward and pulled her into a hug. Puffy instinctively wrapped her arms around him once again, letting him cry softly into her shoulder.
“Foolish, you are not a monster. You weren’t then, you aren’t now, and you never will be, okay? You didn’t mean to hurt them; it was out of emotion and that’s okay sometimes.” She said softly, rubbing his back gently. “The fact that you can acknowledge that deep down they didn’t mean to hurt you means something right?” she asked softly. Foolish nodded slightly, hugging her tighter.
Puffy sighed softly. “I’ll talk to Sam, okay? He’s… really overwhelmed right now, and he definitely didn’t react correctly.” She said gently. After a few moments, she ruffled his hair playfully. “In the meantime, let’s get you something to eat okay? You must be drained from all that. I’ll make you some of my mushroom stew and you can tell me about your plans to rebuild the statue.”
Foolish perked up. It was hard to tell whether he was happy about the stew or getting to talk about his builds, but he pulled away from the hug, wiping the tears from his cheeks. “That would be nice.” he said, his face regaining a bit of the smile that was usually plastered onto it.
The two could talk about Foolish’s past later, if he even wanted to talk about it at all. For now, they walked out of the temple hand in hand as Foolish rambled about the next statue he planned to build.

Two Wrongs Don’t Make a Right
Just a Villain!Puffy and C!Foolish Angst piece I wrote to spite my friends, cross-posted from AO3.
Characters: Villain!Puffy, Foolish, Warden!Sam, Dream, Tommyinnit (mentioned)
!! Content Warning: Depictions of Violence, Major Character Death, Angst, Arguing, Spoilers for Tommy’s stream from 3/1/2021
Summary: After Dream kills Tommy while trapped in prison, Puffy realizes something must be done about Dream... and Foolish is a witness to all of it. (1.8K words)
It didn’t take Sam long to realize that something was off once he went back to the security room, monitoring Puffy’s visit with her son, Dream. It had only been a few days since Dream killed Tommy in the cell. Sam was torn up, but the prisoner needed watching no matter how much grief the warden was experiencing. Normally, it would be against protocol for him to let a visitor see Dream so recently after an incident, but Puffy was insistent. She practically stormed into the prison lobby and demanded that Sam let her in. He only let her in because he was too tired and too upset to deal with Dream’s hysterical mother. Obviously, he should have waited until he was in a better mental state because he slipped up on the protocols, not checking Puffy’s inventory nearly as closely as he normally would have for a visitor.
Once Puffy started raising her voice, that’s when Sam decided to intervene. “Puffy, if you don’t calm down I’m going to have to ask you to get back on the bridge.” he said flatly into the intercom.
“Oh shut up for once in your life Sam!” Puffy yelled out to nowhere in particular before getting back to scolding Dream. “I can’t believe you would do that to him. He was a child. He-” She started, although her voice had much more resentment than one would expect to hear from a mother speaking to her child.
“Oh come on mom, are you serious? You really think Tommy didn’t have this coming?” Dream scoffed, rolling his eyes.
As the screaming match continued, Sam decided that it would probably be best to get ready to intervene in this interaction. This really could prove to be a security threat. But he couldn’t be the one to go in for her. That would be a breach of protocol and a security risk he couldn’t take. Plus, he didn’t think that Puffy would listen to him anyway. The two had already been at odds lately over the egg, and he didn’t think his guidance would be effective at all in this situation. So he grabbed his communicator and decided to call someone who he thought would be helpful.
“Hello?” The totem’s cheery voice rang from the device.
“Uh… hey Foolish. Is there anyway you could make your way up to the prison? Puffy is visiting Dream and she is making me... nervous.” he started, hesitating slightly on the word. He didn’t want Foolish to think that Sam wasn’t doing his job well, because he was. Puffy was just being difficult. “I just need you to be ready to talk to her if I need you to.”
“Yeah sure. We can have a little family reunion in the prison.” Foolish replied, a laugh behind his voice. The joke obviously didn’t land with the worn out warden. Sam let out a slightly annoyed sigh, causing Foolish to clear his throat to fill the silence. “I can be there in five minutes, is that okay? I’m at my summer home.”
Sam’s eyes flicked from the monitor to press the unmute button on the intercom, listening to their fighting for a moment before muting it again. “Just get here quick, okay?” Sam said, his voice maintaining its bland tone despite the worry he felt.
“Of course Sammy. Be there in a few.” The totem said, oblivious to Sam’s discomfort before ending the call and heading into the nether portal to L’Manberg.
Sam put the communicator on the desk, waiting a few moments before unmuting the intercom once again to hear their bickering once again.
“I don’t care how annoying Tommy was while you were trapped in here, that doesn’t give you the right to kill him.” Puffy yelled, seeming exasperated with her son. Hell, Sam would be too. Dream had opened up about what he did to Tommy during his exile, and not only did he open up, he seemed proud of it. The thought made Sam sick to his stomach.
“Listen, you have no idea what was going on in here so I don’t think you can tell me whether or not I am justified.” Dream spat back, crossing his arms. Then he looked like he realized something. “You know what, let’s ask Sam. He overheard some of it. Sam, was Tommy being a little-”
Sam cut Dream off before he could finish. “Don’t drag me into this.” He said sharply. He leaned back in his seat, nervously waiting for Foolish to show up.
“You do understand that you took a human life the other day, right? Tommy is never coming back, and his blood is on your hands.” Puffy said. She didn't even seem upset about Tommy anymore; she just seemed angry. She was just so angry.
Dream scoffed, rolling his eyes. “One: that’s not entirely true. Two: you do understand that I don’t care, right?” He mocked his mother’s tone with his final words, which only seemed to infuriate her further.
Sam was about to speak up and tell Puffy that he was coming to get her before he heard Foolish’s voice over the intercom. “Uh... Overworld to Sam?” He trailed. Apparently it wasn’t the first time Foolish tried to get his attention.
The warden flicked a switch on the control board. “You can go through the portal.” He said, his voice starting to display an edge of the anxiety that felt like lead in his veins.
“Roger dodger that.” The totem said, oblivious to Sam’s sudden change of tone. Sam quickly made his way to the lobby of the prison. This was breaking so many protocols but this was an emergency situation in his eyes, and Sapnap and Punz were unreachable. Sam entered the lobby just before Foolish did.
“I’m not going to lie; this is going to be very different than if you would visit the prison on a normal day, okay? Just don’t tell anyone.” He said, opening up locker two.
“Yeah, of course. Are you okay Sam?” Foolish asked, entering the locker to dump his items into the chest. “Yeah, I’m fine.” He said, putting a slight emphasis on the word ‘I.’ He handed Foolish the forms once he exited the locker.
“I hereby assume-” Foolish began reading off the form before being cut off by the other in the room. “Just sign the form.”
Foolish looked up at him with a confused look but complied anyway. After all, Sam was the sole authority on the prison grounds. He certainly was not going to question him. Sam led Foolish through the prison, skipping most of the safeguards put in place which only confused Foolish further.
“Uh… hey Sam aren’t you supposed to like, kill me a lot right now or something?” Foolish asked, partially to remedy his own confusion and partially to lighten the mood. Sam simply ignored his question, pressing the button to lower the wall of lava.
“Make sure you walk with the bridge.” Sam said firmly. Foolish definitely seemed a little on edge, but he tried not to show Sam. After all, he really did want to see his family together again, and if Sam were to doubt whether or not he was fit to visit the prison, he might not be able to go in.
As the lava receded, the yelling began to be unmuffled. The bridge started moving and Foolish took small steps to stay with it.
“Mom, you have no idea why I do the things I do, so I would suggest you mind your business!”
“Don’t call me that. Don’t call me your mother. You are no son of mine. You’re a monster”
“If you say I am then so be it. Have you ever thought that this is your fault that I’m this way? You did raise me after-” Dream started to retort, but clearly there was something about Puffy’s movement that made Dream lose his spunk.
That’s when Sam realized his mistake when he saw the notable glint of enchanted netherite.
“Mom, how did you get that in here?” Dream asked, his voice smaller now, realizing he went too far.
“You aren’t my son. You will never be my son again.” Puffy’s voice was eerily calm despite the circumstances, and she was completely oblivious to her second son’s arrival.
Foolish was frozen. The bridge had stopped and he was locked in place. He was watching the scene play out in front of him like it was a scene in a movie. He felt so incredibly helpless even though he had the ability to stop it.
Sam had run to the control board to lock the prison down. This was an extremely vulnerable situation, and the last thing that needed to happen was a serious security threat.
“You know what, Dream?” Puffy asked, running her finger along the flat side of the blade. “This is my fault. Something I did made you this way. I don’t know what it was, but I know what I have to do to stop it.” She said. Her voice was still calm, although it began to develop an edge as she continued.
Before Dream could protest, Puffy ran the blade cleanly through his stomach, clenching her teeth. Luckily, his mask hid the look of horror and pain from Foolish’s face as he watched hopelessly, but there was something much worse watching a blank smile as your brother died by your mother’s hand. Once her son went limp, she removed the blade and let his body fall to the floor. She stared down at her blood covered hands, a smile starting to grow before she heard a broken sob from behind her.
Foolish felt like he was going to be sick. His knees felt weak, but he made sure to stay upright to avoid falling into the lava around him. He covered his mouth, eyes nervously scanning his mother’s form.
“Foolish…” Puffy trailed, reaching out towards her surviving son, face falling as he flinched away from her touch. “Foolish it’s not what you-”
“Sam, call back the bridge!” He yelled, not breaking eye contact with her. He was scared what would happen if he took his eyes off of her.
Sam, too, was frozen. He cleared his throat, muttering a soft “you got it” into the intercom.
“Foolish, please.” Puffy said, tears biting at her eyes. The totem shook his head, taking small steps backwards with the bridge.
“I did the right thing! I was protecting you from that monster.” Puffy yelled. Foolish didn’t react. His emerald eyes just stared with fear at the person he used to consider his mother.
The bridge jolted to a stop but Foolish didn’t move. He was frozen listening to Puffy call out. “Come on Foolish. Don’t leave me here. You know Papa Puffy loves you!”
He didn’t move until the lava finally enclosed the cell. He fell to his knees and let himself cry for the loss of his family.
