BURZAGOM is a nihilistic Filipino duo that uses anything and everything from grindcore to funk to krautrock to dub to black metal to classical to noise to electropop to avant garde to bossa to film score and whatever else they could get their hands on to wrap their spoken word diatribes in. Their album Kontrabida (which means villain in Tagalog) is 100 per cent homemade. The vocals were recorded on a cell phone and sent via email. Then all sounds and music were built around what was received and what was discussed over messenger. Work on the album started in mid-October 2021 and was completed in late December 2021 without them ever meeting face to face. BURZAGOM are: Simbuyo D. Ok a flake o scab just fell from the side o me head where it hit the concrete. It looks like overbaked dandruff. That part of my head hurts still but i dont mention it to Moo i dont want her to worry. I feel a bit of pressure there maybe my brains swollen or maybe its just too much coffee. I realize that i couldve actually died in that accident. Im banged up pretty bad. Im sure theres something wrong with my ribs too but the hospital did a sloppy job inspecting me they say its only the collarbone thats fxcked. I also realized that the accident happened on the anniversary of my mothers death. Her 3rd or 4th maybe 5th cant remember now. She died 3 days before my birthday. We buried her on my birthday. I dont know what this criss crossing of dates and events mean im sure it means nothing. Now im in the kitchen nursing my fourth cup o coffee like i used to nurse my beer. The scrambled eggs staring up at me with its puppy eyes. Its been sitting there three hours like a virgin bride on her honeymoon waiting on her impotent husband.
