This? Is the basis for my pet project novel. Greek mythology meets hope as a messy fucking bitch with scars and a chip on their goddamn shoulder.

I will forever celebrate the fact that the man responsible for "Invitation" and "Enter This Deserted House" was also responsible for that poem about the bird who can never land and doesn't know if her eggs even land somewhere safe, or *that* little gem up there.
Hope can be violent and ugly. Evil can be colorful and palatable. Joy can be the subject of a horror story, and X-Rated media can be built upon a foundation of stable, loving relationships that can teach a million things about intimacy, tenderness, and healthy communication.
Boxes are for moving. Art is a wildfire.
Burn, baby, burn.

My friend said this but this is a very important point that yall need to understand.

sometimes one person's scary special crisis is another person's last year.
sometimes one person's scary special crisis is another person's last year.
sometimes one person's scary special crisis is another person's last year.
This? Is the story of my fucking life, and why I feel so fucking awkward talking about myself. At all. When life is unkind, YOU CANNOT SPEAK IN POLITE SOCIETY ABOUT YOURSELF AND IT MAKES YOU FEEL SO WEIRD.
Having a traumatic childhood means you cannot talk even objectively about your basic foundational experiences without it being "venting", even if you're not actually venting. You just straight up have a huge chunk of your life you can't talk about, full stop, without it being trauma dumping.
And it not being socially acceptable to talk about your own childhood is super alienating. Sometimes people want to know why, and any answer you can give them is going to be off putting.
It's to the point I get irritated when something I said is framed as venting when I'm literally just talking about my life experiences, doing my best to keep emotion out of it.

#MMMM G O DS #MAN THINGS THAT MAKE ME REALLY WISH THIS EPISODE DIDN'T HAVE. THAT LINE #CAPTAIN JACK HARKNESS #TORCHWOOD
I still believe Jack's talking absolute SHIT on purpose. Thoughtless transphobic shit because Mary doesn't see a problem dealing with Just Another Asshole. Be what's expected of him, he's good at that--even if what's expected is just plain gross. Jack has a history of doing and saying things he regrets.
...but if the reading you have of That One Line from this episode comes off as the writers being shitty and putting it in the WRONG FUCKING GUY'S MOUTH? You're valid as hell and mine is just an alternate reading as a nonbinary woman who doesn't identify as trans.

Talkin' 'Bout Treasure In The Trash Can
So I was watching one of those @itsapmseymour binge mega movies because I love them and him and his fuzzy friends, and one of the posts he read hit me in a way I had to share with my aunt (short version: been living with my septuagenarian aunt since my dad died in 2017).
I can't find it, and I don't wanna repost it without correct attribution, so the absolutely 'almost correct' version of the post was "if you're not as gay as possible on the internet, alan turing died for nothing!"
I laughed. It's funny. But it's also so cool, and I tried to explain that to her.
I quoted the post. She didn't get it--but she didn't know who Alan Turing is. So I told her.
She still didn't quite get it why I was so jazzed. So I went on to explain his homosexuality and how he was criminally prosecuted for being gay--this man who created computer science as we know it. Who helped win World War II a potential two years earlier than it might have been otherwise, and saved millions of lives with the careful application of his research.
This man who suffered so much just for who he was, and gave the world SO MUCH. Think about it. The Turing machine was the predecessor for the modern computer. We wouldn't have this technology without him. Without this technology, there would be no internet.
How many of us have found our tribes online? How many of us have found our ONLY safe spaces online? The minority, the oppressed, the queer, the alien?
How many friendships have you formed online that were critical to your daily life, or your survival? I'm not ashamed to admit it: online friendships have saved my life. They probably have saved some of yours. The computer, this glorious machine, saves lives.
He's respected in the scientific community. The technological community. He's lauded historically. But you come to a website like Tumblr and he's fucking celebrated because we, who take refuge in his work, who have found salvation in his genius, take the tragedy of his life and death and the ridiculous hoops/amount of time it took to pardon him for the crime of not being """normal""" and bring our joy to it in thanksgiving, laughter, and light.
I explained all this to my aunt. My cishet, older, luddite aunt--and she still didn't understand why I thought it was so funny or so special.
I feel kinda bad for those people. People who don't understand.
See, people who see that post, listen to that video, partake in the meme? They probably know who Alan Turing is, and if they don't? They will. Some reference will crop up, a reblog with the history, an appearance from the science side of tumblr to explain the gravitas of his work.
Someone will always be learning. Someone will always be smiling, celebrating, acknowledging what he did--and Alan Turing will be remembered as a genius, but he will also be, forever, a source of joy, laughter, and life.
He saved so many lives during World War II--but we understand, on this hellsite and every other corner of the internet, that the number on that scoreboard of lives saved will never stop going up.
That's why a stupid joke about being gay online will always make me irrationally happy.

Danhausen is the single greatest thing wrestling has ever produced and if you think I'm wrong, then it's wet noodles in the Denny's parking lot at 3AM.
Come at me. I'm RIGHT. XD

Jack Harkness, following behind, disheveled and grinning smugly: I'm things.

...but when you put this evil up against the purity of Markiplier's rage game reaction, where he declares that lycanthropy is a choice, not a curse?
Is it REALLY evil then, bro?...XD
evil game design must never be done for money reasons. evil game design must be done for the love of evil itself

Crafting Who for sure, but...I don't remember if you were on the I SHIP EVERYONE WITH EVERYONE ELSE EVER? (RIP that panel I want it back XD) I kinda remember a run to the bar/restaurant with some fellows from the shipping panel but I don't remember if you were on it.
I do remember fondly your talk about kitbashing dolls though! It's why I started watching doll customization videos on Youtube recently, I was like "...isn't that what Tara talked about at Gally that one year?..." XD
The former hits a button in my memory, but not the latter. It took me a WHILE to ship Paris and Torres, I spent a great deal of time side-eyeing Paris/Kim. >.> XD
What fandoms did you write in? because depending on the fandom and the pairing, I may have been your archivist posting your pic to my archive...
First? *anime eyes* Hi. You are awesome. We did a panel or two together at Gallifrey One nine billion years ago and you’re a goddamn delight. :p
Also back then? G O D I was a wee baby eighteen year old. XD Back then it was OZ and adjacent fandoms like Law & Order-verse with a teeny bit of KISS-lore fic (think the Psycho Circus comics type stuff). But I read like way more fandoms. Hercules/Xena, Star Trek, even a teeny bit of The Sentinel.

I AM NOT A DOCTOR. I AM NOT A DIETICIAN. GO TALK TO THE MUFUKKIN EXPERTS. That said...
I grew up in a hospital, and former caregiver to a diabetic father. If you're just managing your diet as a healthy person with no medical issues, food is not evil. Nothing you eat is bad. Fats, carbs, sugars, cholesterol. There are good and less-good forms (natural sugars in fruit versus refined sugar, trans fats versus healthy fats, etc.) but you'll make yourself sick on a PROTEIN ONLY diet as readily as you will if you eat NOTHING BUT SUGAR.
Eat what tastes good, but also pay attention to your body. If you're eating things and feeling like garbage after you eat them? Check what you're eating. Try something else.
Now let's bookend with that disclaimer for the people in the back...
I AM NOT A DOCTOR. I AM NOT A DIETICIAN. GO TALK TO THE MUFUKKIN EXPERTS--and do things that make your body feel nice and stronk and healthy, I love you, k? K.
