Finally finished editing this video. It's a little grainy because I zoomed in. Learned that lesson the hard way. Lol. Longer vid is on my YouTube at Jaceleyf. On another note, I'm super grateful for the opportunity to paint this portrait. Thank you @kyleighdestiny. Amazing people like you makes it possible for me to live the artist life. https://www.instagram.com/p/CM7lhcHH5Po/?igshid=15i1q8vfu2yol

The Peanut Man, The Plant Doctor - These nicknames were great descriptions of George Washington Carver, but they only offered a myopic and limited insight of the man. The man was an inventor, a scientist, a scholar and a teacher who was dedicated to improving the lives and works of people, especially farmers, everywhere. #quicksketch #drawing #inkdrawing #blackhistorymonth https://www.instagram.com/p/CLz3S4lgxzX/?igshid=14io23q4vt4cp

"Ain't I a woman?" - there are two versions of that enlightened impromptu speech by Sojourner Truth. Which one rings truer is not as important as the truth that flowed out so eloquently and effortlessly from her soul. The truth of women's rights, of all people's rights. She was an impassioned activist that sought out the truth for equality. #quicksketch #drawing #blackhistorymonth #inkdrawing https://www.instagram.com/p/CLxbF5Fg6Qu/?igshid=hvtpglrnesh

When we think of that historic March on Washington, most people, including me, think of Dr. King or Mr. Randolph, or "I have a dream!". There was another figure behind the scene who also deserves praise, Bayard Rustin. Some even called him a mentor to Dr. King. Although he preferred to remain in the background, his influence and call for non-violence were conspicuous. #drawing #quicksketch #blackhistorymonth https://www.instagram.com/p/CLvaq44AFDT/?igshid=l80f80xay5v3

Her name is Florence Joyner. She was also known as Flo-Jo and... World's Fastest Woman. On top of holding a couple of world records, she also created a youth foundation, wrote a children's book, and launched her own clothing line. #quicksketch #drawing #inkdrawing #blackhistorymonth https://www.instagram.com/p/CLsNZ3LAb8X/?igshid=1qlb66jji8u7q

Fans booed and jeered him. Teammates threatened to quit. His family was inundated with threats. Jackie Robinson persevered through all that. Did you know that before his career in sports, he, too, was arrested for not giving up his seat on a bus? His influence went far beyond sport. #drawing #quicksketch #ink #blackhistorymonth https://www.instagram.com/p/CLprWjRAVbH/?igshid=2zfb228bjs2x

Although she was known for her athletic feats, Wilma Rudolph was an inspiration for all and not just athletes. Having been the victim of a disease, she went from wearing leg braces to becoming a track and field Gold medalist (3 Golds) in the Olympics. #drawing #quicksketch #blackhistorymonth https://www.instagram.com/p/CLnu2dlgAEv/?igshid=o3ajyt0e5arr

Jacob Lawrence is perhaps the most renowned African American painter. He is known for his minimalist style that he called "dynamic cubism", in which he depicted African American life by juxtaposing dark figures over bold colors. He is so acclaimed that one of his paintings is hanging in... the... White House. #quicksketch #drawing #inkdrawing #blackhistorymonth https://www.instagram.com/p/CLk2vmtAzUZ/?igshid=eg85xh8qlrjg

Ella Fitzgerald went from a difficult childhood to incredible success. Her vocal talents were so matchless that she was called the First Lady of Songs. And she became the first African American woman to win a Grammy. I wish I didn't draw her face too wide :p #quicksketch #drawing #blackhistorymonth https://www.instagram.com/p/CLhyK5ZAWhM/?igshid=pjr1duuiqc40

John Robinson, sometimes referred to as the Father of the Tuskegee Airman, met racial barriers that kept him from aviation school. After many rejections from Curtiss-Wright School of Aviation, he landed a janitorial job in the school and grew his knowledge by surreptitiously attending classes. He finally earned his admittance when a professor endorsed him after seeing the plane that he and his friends had built...and the rest is history, #blackhistory #blackhistorymonth #quicksketch https://www.instagram.com/p/CLfBLKBAWiJ/?igshid=9bkuq3ti6eaw

Money isn't everything, but it is at times a great yardstick for measuring our contribution to the world. At a time so oppressive to women and Blacks, Madam CJ Walker was the epitome of rag to riches, becoming the first woman never mind black- self made millionaire in the USA. With her hair products she touched the lives of countless African Americans. #quicksketch #blackhistorymonth https://www.instagram.com/p/CLdMek8ge_G/?igshid=111i0fzpebspl

He is "The most prolific black - if not most prolific independent - filmmaker in American cinema," said the Producers Guild of America of Oscar Micheaux, The first African American film maker. He'd written more than a handful of books. He directed and produced over three and a half dozen films in which he shunned the stereotypical portrayal of Blacks at that time. #quicksketch #blackhistorymonth https://www.instagram.com/p/CLar2qPAWfD/?igshid=dj0y00lc2oxm

"...one had better die fighting against injustice than to die like a dog or a rat in a trap." Long before Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus, Ida B. Wells had won a circuit court case for her seat on a train. she went on to cofound influential civil rights organizations, including the NAACP and NAEW. Face is a little too chubby, but it is what it is 😁. The point of these exercises is to sharpen my skills. #quicksketch #blackhistorymonth https://www.instagram.com/p/CLYDAf-gaTo/?igshid=96r45c26ucr2

You've probably heard of the Lone Ranger. There are rumors that the character was likely based off Bass Reeves, the first African American deputy U.S. marshal west of the Mississippi. He went from being a slave to becoming a legendary lawman with an inimitable moral compass. #quicksketch #blackhistorymonth https://www.instagram.com/p/CLVlcjBg8MR/?igshid=38mqtckh5822

Josephine Baker was known as a French artist even though she was born and raised in the USA. She was a very successful entertainer. Her unique singing and dancing styles propelled her to stardom. She even played in major motion pictures. But she's not celebrated just for being a celebrity. She was also a spy during WWII, fighting against the Nazi regime before she returned home (USA) to fight segregation and discrimination. #quicksketch #blackhistorymonth https://www.instagram.com/p/CLS_vkGAxJj/?igshid=nohyg6so5tve

"If there is no struggle, there is no progress." A quote of Frederick Douglass. To say he made an impact would be an understatement. His actions led to the creation of several amendments that guarantee freedom. #quicksketch #blackhistorymonth For the video, check out my YouTube, Jaceley Frezin. https://www.instagram.com/p/CLQh6W_g6CV/?igshid=d8gwngl109lb
