“You’re a man. All men are dumb.”
Brenna peers up at me, and damned if she isn’t the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. She’s bold and fierce, and those qualities combined with her beauty make her a force to be reckoned with.

She’s not unshakeable, this girl. I have the power to shake her up.

“I hate you,“ I breathed into his mouth. “I hate you so much that sometimes I can’t think of anything else.”

No mourners, no funerals. Another way of saying good luck. But it was something more. A dark wink to the fact that there would be no expensive burials for people like them, no marble markers to remember their names, no wreaths of myrtle and rose.

read in 2019 📖 The Risk by Elle Kennedy
“You don’t want to be with someone who’s exactly like you. You want someone who challenges you, who inspires you to open up when you’ve been closed off your entire life—”

The Risk (Briar U #2) by Elle Kennedy
His dark-green eyes flick in Brenna’s direction as he sips his beer. Brenna is momentarily distracted from McCarthy. She takes in Jake’s dark jeans, black Under Armour shirt, and Red Sox cap. “Connelly,” she says curtly. “Good game.” He gives her a contemplative look. There was no sarcasm in her tone, but I think he senses the difficulty with which she voiced the praise. “Thanks,” he drawls. Takes another sip of beer.
“Why should she be embarrassed?” Brenna challenges. “What, you don’t think girls are allowed to hook up?” Jake’s mouth hitches in a wry grin. “Jensen, I think no matter what I say, you’d still argue the point.” “That’s not true.” “You’re arguing right now.” “Because you’re annoying me.” “What a coincidence,” he mocks. “You’re annoying me too.”

most anticipated books of 2019  ♔  The Risk by Elle Kennedy
Everyone says I’m a bad girl. They’re only partly right—I don’t let fear rule me, and I certainly don’t care what people think. But I draw the line at sleeping with the enemy. As the daughter of Briar’s head hockey coach, I’d be vilified if I hooked up with a player from a rival team. And that’s who Jake Connelly is. Harvard’s star forward is arrogant, annoying, and too attractive for his own good. But fate is cruel—I require his help to secure a much-coveted internship, and the sexy jerk isn’t making it easy for me. I need Connelly to be my fake boyfriend. For every fake date…he wants a real one. Which means this bad girl is in big trouble. Nothing good can come from sneaking around with Jake Connelly. My father would kill me, my friends will revolt, and my post-college career is on the line. But while it’s getting harder and harder to resist Jake’s oozing sex appeal and cocky grin, I refuse to fall for him. That’s the one risk I’m not willing to take.

READ IN 2019 ⇢ the risk (briar u #2) by elle kennedy
She stops at the bar and hands the waiter a twenty-dollar bill. “That should cover his beer, too.” She glances over her shoulder. “Say thank you to your sugar mama, Jakey.” “Thank you.” I flash an overly lascivious grin. “Daddy loves it when you take care of him.” Brenna sighs. “I hate you.”

I bend my head as I rummage around in my wallet for small bills. When a shadow falls over the tabletop, I assume it’s the waitress returning with my check. I assume wrong. “Jensen,” drawls an insolent male voice. “Got stood up, eh?” And then, to my horror, the very last person I want to see slides into the other side of the booth.
