Foulques vs Ywain

Okay, lets talk about Foulques and Ywain. And why Foulques is honestly a better trainer than Ywain is. Ywain takes the new lancers into the guild, and then lets someone come at these new trainees who haven't even held their first training session with live steel. If they flinch, they are likely to be injured. then he has the nerve to constantly send us after said person as we are growing as lancers. and Ywain keeps talking about courage. -_-

Something interesting about Foulques's gear. He's wearing Hetairos Armguards. Those are found in 3 dungeons, Copperbell Mines (hard), Haukke Manor (Hard), and Pharos Sirius. All of which are level 50 dungeons. He's also got the Warden's Trousers (level 24), Doctore's Sollerets (level 20), Horn scale mail (level 38), and a plundered guisarme (level 15). His lowest gear piece is his weapon. And save for the horn scale mail, all of his gear is from a dungeon. He's a lot stronger than Ywain, and smarter (if I'm honest) when it comes to training a new lancer.

Does Foulques interfere with Ywain's challenges for the lancer quests? Yes. Is he watching over you to make sure you don't die? Also yes. He's also a victim of the rampant racism running through Gridania. The Gridanian's are heavily racist towards outsiders and Duskwight's (Mother Miounne seems to be the sole exception to that.)

The Wood Wailers aren't paid well. That's made obvious several times in the story (look at Laurentius ffs). And when Foulques and his (so-called buddies) stole from the guild because they weren't being paid enough to live with (oooh doesn't that sound familiar), when he stepped forward to confess, thinking that the rest of them would too, they threw him under the chocobo cart. Why? Because he's a duskwight.

Ywain didn't look into this. He didn't look into the why. He didn't even listen when Foulques tried to say he wasn't the only one who stole. He just had Foulques arrested. And only Foulques. The rest of that group? They're Wood Wailers now.

Foulques trains us to the best of his abilities because he saw something that he felt meant more than losing a potential good lancer to Ywain's bullshit. Yes he faltered with the lord of the bramble patch (Spear of Destiny quest), but holy hells, we'd just pissed off this massive boar, what the fuck was Ywain thinking!? Foulques was worried about us both getting killed and Ywain had likely been getting into his head.

Foulques was trying to prove himself, but Ywain wouldn't even give him a chance. I'm not surprised he got pissed off.

I wish, I really wish we had been given the chance to save Foulques. Get him the hells out of Gridania and the Black Shroud. Because I could see him having become a dragoon alongside the WoL.

So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said “don’t follow me if we never even had a conversation before” and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????

I’ve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now I’m wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that it’s totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if we’ve never talked before.

Also, I’m legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like it’s common sense but is that really a thing?

“I’d love to RP but I’m not sure how our muses can interact!”

Need some starter ideas? These might be really useful for muses from different fandoms or canon divergent characters.

Somehow a muse has crossed into a parallel world or through time and space. Pretty easy thing if magic, miracles, time travel or far future technologies are involved with one of the muses. This makes for plenty of possibilities for one character to explore the world of the other!

A muse has gotten in trouble. This works great when one muse is a lawyer, doctor, or detective. Plenty of opportunities to use injured memes here.

Kidnapped! And oldie but really handy if there’s a villain muse, kidnapping someone either because they needed a car and a driver, or to ransom or make a super hero squirm. Bonus points if you kidnap the wrong person!

“I’d like to hire you.” One muse is looking for a new bodyguard, chauffeur, a private detective, nanny, hacker or escort and wants to hire the other muse for their talents.

Collateral damage. Both muses are in a dangerous situation caused by someone or something else. You didn’t mean to get stuck inside the Disney store at Times Square when a super villain dropped a truck in front of the door, but you are now!

“I needed a change.” A great idea for canon divergent characters, a muse literally moves away from their past life and settles somewhere else. This is a great option for characters that lived through an experience (even though they might have otherwise died) and wanted to get away from what caused it. This also works for someone looking for a fresh start.

Thinking about Miqo'te non-verbal affection and just. Soft headbutts, leaning on someone, laying and napping on them. Letting people touch their ears, tail, and stomach. Soft nearly inaudible purring.

And of course Miqo'te going limp if you pinch/touch a specific part of their neck.

Reminder that if there is stuff you dislike about the updated graphics we are witnessing in the Benchmark or feel somethings could be implemented better. You can still chime in on the forums to provide feedback. There is still a couple months left. And they've been addressing issues a step at a time with each major hurdle. These updates are still not set in stone and there is still time. So rather than just shit posting or raging at some changes make your voice heard. Be constructive in the criticism and remember they are listening particularly intently for these updates.
