Nostalgia hits hardddd. I cant believe its already been a decade since I first watched Sonic X...and Tails and Cosmo were one of my first ships as a kid too lmao. Time to come back to my old sonic roots. heh. roots.

Couldn't have said it any better. I loved this duo from the start/thought it had so much potential and I'm surprised it's only gotten more attention recently in lore and the fandom. Those two are so similar, big Q is just an older version of Tommy's personality lol. They've both been through so much, and, unlike techno for example, they've both shared eachother's ideals since the start. Quackity was one of the few people to really care for tommy after everything. Recently more people are starting to, but back then whenever Tommy walked around in fear it was always pushed to the side and ignored by everyone, among the few scenes where someone actually seemed to care, most were from Quackity. When Tommy was first revived for example, it was Quackity who was most furious and wanted revenge for Tommy, no one else really. When the whole las Nevadas shovel incident happened, Quackity knew Tommy enough to know that he wouldn't hurt slime, he knew and understood Tommy's already been through enough... Which for some reason was one of the few instances back then where someone actually seemed to care. Especially when Tommy wasn't even present, he still stood up for him. Tommy's never had someone stand up for him against dream unconditionally either, besides Techno but as much as I love bedrock bros, that relationship started off more as business partners with bad blood (he literally killed his best friend right in front of him) knowing about Techno's favor and how he was so willing to, once again, give up Tommy to dream(and from Tommy's pov that's exactly what happened). Quackity on the other hand would never. Unlike Techno, Quackity shares the same burning hatred for Dream as Tommy. Tommy wanted to fight back in a war? big bro older and wiser quackity would be there hyping him up but also reminding him planning is important... He's basically Tommy but older, more mature, and more knowledgeable.

Basically, Slimecicle and Tommy both sorta represent the two halves of Quackity from the past. Slimecicle, the overly-trusting, loving blob of sunshine that made everyone smile... And Tommy, the one determined to do whatever it takes to stand up for what he thinks is right, as well as protect those he cares about, whether that be through war or death. And drugs. And the same sense of humor.

Basically we got the peace and the chaos.

there is something so coincidentally perfect about c!quackity being the one to help c!tommy the most in the recent lore stream. this setup for their new dynamic is literally everything i needed. and like yes he got extra armor from sam, he was allowed shelter with phil, but quackity? quackity had recently been through a loss that changed his character fundamentally for the rest of the series. He’s more considerate, and he’s realizing he doesn’t have to hurt others to gain power as his form of agency. This has already forced him to emerge from the self-isolation he used as a defense mechanism against his abandonment issues. but you know who else infamously struggles with abandonment issues? tommy. and quackity knows that.

quackity not only offered tommy items and sanctuary in las nevadas, but unconditional support. he’s not the man pitching residency to his nation, he’s not a politician, he’s not even wilburs rival, he’s just Big Q. Just a friend who wants to help.

they dont have as rocky a past as sam and tommy, or phil and tommy. quackity has ALWAYS cared for tommy, and tommy has been there for quackity before as well, especially after the whole schlatt ordeal. ALSO. those two being the ones to see wilbur at his most mentally unwell is no fucking mistake; that button room scene formulated an unspoken mutual understanding between these characters about who they are and what theyre willing to protect. Although their identities have been challenged, their arcs similarly circle back to finding importance and purpose in helping the people you love and making sure you leave behind a good legacy, no matter how big or small.

quackitys been through hell, lost so much, and now, finally, after processing betrayals and setting aside reckless self-destructive revenge plans, quackity is ready to help tommy do the same. slime (c!charlie now) taught him that. 

and theres no doubt in my mind that hes gonna put charlies lessons to good use.  

he is not gonna fail this kid. tommys had a lot of mentor figures hurt him, but not this time. not on quackitys watch. so maybe, FINALLY, tommy’s fierce loyalty won’t be a means to an end. And we already know that tommy, in his own words, “appreciate(s) this more than you’ll ever know.”

THIS. It's why I prefer shounen and other shows not centered around romance. With actual plot and story, as well little to no truely canon ships, you're free to ship whoever you want with whoever you want in the sidelines, then you focus on the canon for the story itself, the analysis, the theories, the emotions, ect.

if one of the dsmp conclusions isn't the og lmanburgians coming together one last time to defeat a common enemy where they establish that they were a family once and maybe in the future become one again- that they can heal- then whats the fucking point.

It’s been a rough ride huh… I chose this specific set of characters because they’ve gone through the most physical overall change since the beginning and now. Sort of to hammer home how much they’ve all been through.
