March 29-31, 2024

What are the prompts?

How do I participate?

No sign ups are required! Just post any and your SPN Sex Toys content and be sure to include #spnsextoys2024 and tag us @spnkinkevents in your post. I'm going to rant.

As an artist, you learn to properly tag your things, because you can get in trouble so easy.

My art was taken down (after MONTHS of being up) for policy violation. There was a third illustration, but I can't find it in my cell.

After writing a complaint, the above is the response, and I tried to include what the search for nudity & sexual pulls up. Tumblr yelled at me.

Trust me, my art is tame in comparison.

It's frustrating as fuck, I'm honestly pissed and last I checked I was within rules.

Guess this work is staying elsewhere and they (others on that site) can keep doing their porn.

In previous years, I've worked diligently to reblog each and every post listed in the tag to include in an archive on tumblr. However, more than a few things have changed in the past six years, including my earlier creeping bedtime. This year, I'd like to move the archive to Ao3 for something more inclusive. That means this year, it's up to you to get your work in there! Authors: be sure to use tags so your stories are searchable! * Artists: mind ao3's rules for images. You may choose to include a clickable link instead of the art itself.

FAQ's

Why aren't there 31 prompts this year? Because I'm changing it up to something a little less overwhelming for you and me. Fill all the days, and if you're still hungry for more, send me a message and let me know it wasn't enough so I can take that into account for next year!

I posted my work and you haven't reblogged it. What did I do wrong? Probably nothing. I may have just missed it, which will happen. The good news is, it's up to you to include your work in an archive this year, so be sure to do that! Also be sure to tag it correctly using #suptober23, and the day you're fulfilling.

I'm really busy in October, can I post it later? Yes! The collection won't close.

I can't write or draw, is there another way I can participate? Yes, you can support all the creators by liking, commenting, and reblogging their work. It's just as important as the things being posted. Also, I bet you'll soon realize you absolute can make art and write too! There's no skill level required to have fun.

How long do the stories need to be? There's no word length just be sure to make a good effort, and challenge yourself.

Can I include multiple days in one fic? Sure, but don't post early, and be sure to tag for each day both here on tumblr (if you're posting to tumblr) and on Ao3. In the past, people have used each prompt as a new chapter, and that works great for a cohesive project!

Can I repost the prompt list with my posts? Yep. Go ham. Use at will.

If you’re trashing the value of the work the striking artists do, treating that work as expendable and replaceable, if you’re whining about how it’s all boring and worthless and beneath you, so why does anyone care if the work is delayed, or if you’re using this strike to exercise your grudges because you actually don’t like most of the work that comes out of Hollywood, you aren’t actually being pro-union.

The artists on the picket lines make those stories. Not the AMPTP.

The work has value. These stories mean a lot to people. They aren’t just a commodity, there’s personal and cultural value at stake. If these stories go away, there is a ripple effect.

The work these artists do is not replaceable. If you want to support them as human beings, don’t treat the work they do like it’s unimportant or dull or replaceable. If you are specifically making a post claiming to be pro-union, don’t in the same breath demean the value of the work these artists create.

I haven't heard this song in forever 👀

Inspiration can come from many places. From a film, a show, a look, a touch, a song… 

I write to music every day. Whether it’s ambient or instrumental or good ole’ rock n’ roll. Usually, it’s in the background, just keeping my brain busy while my imagination runs wild, but sometimes… that beat hits me the right way… the feel of the song takes over… and before I know it- I’ve got a story. 

This is my challenge for you, and I hope that you accept it.

For each round, I will post a new song at random. It could be rock, country, hiphop, indie, whatever strikes me. Whatever gives ME that… feeling. I’ll pass the tune onto you and your job is to create a story with the FEELING of the song. You know what I mean. I want to read your story and have your words invoke the same emotion that the song does. 

You can use the lyrics, sure. You can write a story that perfectly matches the story within the song, also cool. But, I challenge you to step away from the core of the song and write a story that just feels like it. 

You may write for any fandom that you like, any ship, any pairing, any characters. You can write smut, fluff, angst, dark fic, anything that feels right to you. You can also go for it and write a completely original story that isn’t technically fanfiction. This is up to you. Whatever the song moves you to create, I encourage you to go for it. 

Can’t get a story out? Make a mood board, write a poem, draw something, make a gif set. Use the passion and creativity inside of you to show me how the song made you feel. 

You do not need to sign up, but if you reblog this post, it’ll spread the word and show me that you’re interested. You can of course message me/ask me any questions you have. I’m happy to chat and help! I’m generally always around ;)

When you post your creation, please tag @impala-dreamer and mention this challenge so I can see it and reblog. I will read as many as I can, and reblog them all.
