Miya Atsumu: Daughters
Fandom: Haikyuu!! — [ Masterlist ]
Summary: ~900, fluff
• Atsumu ponders a question he recently got asked in an interview and drags the whole of MSBY into it.
Warnings: None
>>>>——————————>
Tumblr media
"Who would you let your daughter date out of the team?"
It was a question he'd been asked at an interview recently, one he'd skilfully dodged and redirected to his love life with his clever response of 'Well I gotta find the love of ma life before thinkin' 'bout that~’.
Now he had a spare moment, gifted to him by the sheer curiosity of his teammates, he actually gave it some thought.
Bokuto and Hinata stood eagerly beside one another, practically bouncing on the heels of their feet once the faux blondes' analytic gaze landed on them.
"Well definitely not yous' two, that's for sure."
"Omi! I'd let you date my daughter." The pair hadn't a moment to deflate when the blonde instantaneously snapped to Kiyoomi who was as sharp as ever with his response.
"And risk being related to you through marriage? No thank you Miya."
"Oi, ya can't talk to yer father-in-law like that Sakusa Kiyoomi!"
Hinata hummed aloud in thought, surveying the MSBY Jackals before landing on a welcome option.
"What about (L/n)?"
You'd strolled up at this point, wanting to see what all the fuss was about when you heard your name. Atsumu meeting your surprised gaze with an analytic one of his own.
"Hm?"
"Seeing if 'Tsum Tsum would let his daughter date you." A quiet sound of understanding left your lips as response to Bokutos' disclosure, once more darting back to the uncharacteristically silent Setter.
"Ah mean..." Atsumu blanched, fingers darting to the back of his neck as the panic set in. "I would want 'em to but wouldn't like 'em to."
Not only yourself, but Bokuto and Hinata stared at him perplexed, brows raised in curiosity meanwhile Sakusa shook his head with a resigned sigh.
"Wait, what's the age difference? Is (Y/n) still my age or my daughter's age - 'cause that's a whole other story."
"Daughter's age I guess?" Shoyo shrugged, looking to Bokuto for assurance.
"Then what's the age difference between me an' (Y/n)?" Atsumu asked again, mentally calculating in his head before Bokuto jumped in.
"Why so many questions? You never gave anyone else this much thought."
Silence. Likely concocting a lie.
"Yes I did!"
You were certain the team had mentally flashed back to the instant "Not you." they'd received and focused on the severe lack of questions he'd asked regarding them.
"No you didn't."
"Nope, literally was right here when you said it."
You thought he would've come up with a better lie.
"Then— then it's because (Y/n) isn't a teammate."
"Woah! HOW DARE YOU 'TSUM 'TSUM!" Kōtarō clutched you immediately, pointing an accusing finger at his setter. "(Y/n) is apart of the team, just because they don't play on court doesn't make them less important!"
"That's not what I—"
"For the record, I'd treat your daughter amazingly Atsumu! I'd bring her flowers, make her smile, and care for her when she's sick by making dinner. Oh! We could cook together too - maybe she'd like to visit new cities and restaurants with me." You gleamed momentarily, the way he'd crossed his arms and looked away from you with a pout amusing you slightly.
"No not happening, yer a terrible match for ma daughter and I won't allow it."
"Guess it's Sakusa who wins the date." You casually shrugged, Kiyoomi grimacing at the thought.
"I didn't want it in the first place."
"Omi Omi don't be so rude!"
You rolled your eyes as they all went to begin practice with varying farewells, yourself returning to your own role with nothing more than a playful smile.
———
It wasn’t until practice was over did you realise you hadn’t quite escaped their shenanigans for the day regardless of your speedy exit. Atsumu cornering you whilst you collected your belongings.
"Yer in a hurry, ya got plans?"
"Actually I'm eating at home tonight."
"Oh was ma daughter unavailable fer ya to take out to dinner?" It was said pettily, a childish tone in play that only caused you to shoot a snarky remark to the MSBY setter.
"Atsumu, are you jealous of your non-existent daughter?"
There was a moment of pause where he shot you an expression of pure offence that soon morphed into an intense stare off - him breaking far quicker than you'd thought.
"She gets to do all this cool stuff with ya and yer haven't even met! We don't do any of that and I've know ya fer ages!"
"Atsumu... all you gotta do is ask y'know? We can hang out when we’re both free."
“No that’s not what I mean! I don't want my daughter dating you because I wanna date you!" Your eyes widened at the proclamation, so that was why he was acting so weird about this whole thing.
“Date me? Atsumu are you feeling alright?”
You only received a groan mixed with defeat and aggravation, the man carefully linking arms with you and once again bring you to his teammates.
"I've changed my mind on (Y/n). It's all worked out." Though sceptical at Atsumus’ apparent newfound confidence in the previous matter, Hinata was the one to hes Tōya toy question his setter.
"So... you'd let your daughter date (Y/n)?"
"Hell no! My daughter can't date her parent, that's just wrong."
"Atsumu!" Immediately you pushed his proud frame with a shocked and frustrated yelp, the team practically howling at the idiocy you’d both displayed.
"What? We're gonna—"
"Shut up Miya! You're going to say something I'll want to slap you for."
Of course they’d worked out he liked you from earlier, but the last thing they expected was this open chaos - you certainly weren’t going to date him anytime soon now.

Iwaizumi Hajime: Brothers’ Best Friend
Fandom: Haikyuu!! — [ Masterlist ]
Summary: 2.5k, fluff
• It can be hard when you catch feelings for your brother best friend, but the least you can do is be mature about it and turn it into a game.
Warnings: a few insults
>>>>——————————>
Tumblr media
Iwaizumi Hajime had been 5 things to you over the years, some you'd regretted, many you'd denied, but there's 1 he'd finally accept.
———
He was your ‘brothers’ best friend.
Even from a young age, Iwaizumi Hajime had always captured your interest - most would often sway towards Oikawa but considering he was your older brother figure as your families were quite close, you saw quite enough of him already.
To anyone, your favouritism was evident, including to Oikawas' parents who regularly took you to collect Tōru from his Volleyball club practices.
Gingerly you walked past the child players who varied in height but were all taller than you, some recognising you and side stepping so you could locate your targets faster.
All while Tōrus older sister filmed the humorous ritual. You strolled toward the familiar pair, Oikawa immediely breaking into a blinding smile and picking you up with a prideful greeting. Iwaizumi halted beside his partner whilst he lifted you (there was only 2 years between you but at this age you'd yet to grow).
However, it was not your brother you wanted - no, he held you in his arms only for you pout and kick in his grasp.
Adhering to his childish personality, the cute Setter scoffed whilst mumbling curses as he passed you to his best friend who had his arms open already, used to this familiar favouritism behaviour - a smug look sent to his partner as you settled immediately with a content grin.
Happily you allowed Hajime to manoeuvre you to a piggy back position and carry you over to your amused family.
"This'll be good blackmail in the future y'know, I think for all of you~" Tōrus sister finally pressing stop on the recording, you supposed that at her age she had it out for her 'siblings'.
———
He was a crush.
A phase you'd told yourself, just some ridiculous school girl crush that'd pass eventually because above all else, he was a good friend.
"Hi (Y/n), Iwaizumi is here y'know." Oikawas sister said it with a playful mirth to her silky tone, knowing smirk situated on her face upon seeing you light up.
"Iwa?! Really~"
"That's the guy you talk about, on the high school team with your 'brother' right?"
"Yes! You have to me him -them- c'mon." Eagerly you dragged your friend into the kitchen where the two volleyball players were conversing.
"Hey guys."
"Awh! Chibi-chan, did you miss me? I know I'm amaz—"
Fluently you ducked under his open arms, flying straight into the unsuspecting but easily prepared Iwaizumi who only groaned in reply.
"Tch, not as amazing as Iwa-chan apparently."
"You've grown (Y/n), and who’s your friend?"
"Yeah, that's how life generally works Iwaizumi, oh and this Yuki."
"Nice to meet you. Oi, careful, you sound like Crappykawa and one of those is enough thanks." Iwaizumi chided after introductions, leaving you shaking your head but excited to ask your next question.
"How was the game? God I can't wait to start Aobajohsai next year! I'll finally be able to watch you guys for real."
"We won 2-0. Next year you can come to our practices too. We still need a manager and since Crappykawa is going to be Captain, he might put in a good word."
"Not likely, especially since you'll take Iwas' side in everything." Oikawa sneakily replied, giving you a childish face which you naturally returned.
"That's because he's usually right Tōru."
Once finishing your conversation, you left for your own home like originally planned with Yuki, also glad she’d finally met the two most important people in your life.
“Wow, you’re big brother figure is really good looking~”
“Ew no, did you even meet Iwaizumi? He’s so cool, he’s the arm wrestling champion at Aobajohsai.”
“You know we don’t stand a chance, they’ll be thirds years whilst we’re first years.” She’d awkwardly added, but you remained charismatically confident.
“You’re not thinking ahead, I’ll have a chance one day but until then there’s a bunch of cute guys in our year.”
“Yes, speaking of, I finally got the courage to speak to Tadashi-kun today~”
———
He was a protector.
"Back. Off." Every word was deadly punctuated, standing as a warning all on their own without needed the back up of Iwaizumis dangerous glare.
"Who are you?!" The pestered had glowered, having followed you from your friends’ party that night.
"Take another step and you'll find out."
"Iwaizumi, it's fine— I can handle this." You had every intention to, but Iwaizumi stood protectively in front of you and fingers twitching to punch this scoundrel if he dared make a move to touch you, it was best to leave it.
"Whatever.” Then he was gone, storming off in the other direction much to your joint relief.
“(Y/n) you need to be more careful.”
“I was careful! That’s why I messaged Oikawa the second I noticed him following me.” Hold on, why the hell was Iwaizumi here then?
“Creeps will target students walking alone, especially ones like you.”
“Don’t you think I know that? I’m not and idiot an— what do you mean ‘like me’?”
“What? You’re, y’know— you’re ours!” He seemed stifled by his response but he couldn’t exactly tell you it’s because you were considered attractive.
"You can stop treating me like a baby, I'm 16 Hajime! I can take care of myself, besides..." There was brief hesitation but your emotions were too strong. "I need to get used to you and Tōru not being around, don't I?"
It was a low blow, you knew that, but had every right to be angry at both the world and him, especially with that bubbling feeling of betrayal being so fresh.
"What? So protecting you suddenly means I'm treating you like a child?"
"What else would it be?" You bit back again, knowing by this point you were only being hurtful.
"That I—" A pause.
"That I care about you dumbass, is that so hard to believe? I know you're growing up but that doesn't mean me -or Tōru- are gonna stop looking out for you just because we're on the other side of the world."
"Sure it doesn’t, I'm going home." Despite his words being full of honesty, you turned your back on him and started walking.
"I'll walk you."
"No, I'll walk myself thanks."
"It wasn't a request."
Eventually you arrived at Oikawas’ house, storming in and ditching your shoes in his porch - the pretty brunette heaving a knowing sigh. Oikawa would give you a minute, Iwa having now walked into the house moments after without a word, and that’s when Oikawa followed your path and hesitantly knocked on his own bedroom door for entry.
"Don't be mad at Iwa-chan."
"Yeah yeah 'he's only trying to look out for you' and 'Hajime is protective over people close to him', heard it all before Tōru." Came your muffled reply, face hidden in your arms on the setters bed.
"...Guess you have but uh, this is different."
"Tch."
"It's because he's going to miss you, our Ace won't ever admit that but it's true. Not seeing you and dealing with our chaos all the time will be weird for him. You were near the top of his list to tell once he’d made his decision about California y'know?" Tōru sat tentatively beside you, a reassuring hand patting your back in aid of comforting you.
"Doesn't make it hurt any less, finding out I'm not only losing my big brother but his best friend too."
"You're more upset about me though right?" There was a preganant pause, quite honestly you weren't exactly listening but it was enough for Oikawa to sit abruptly from the bed. "Right?!"
"Tōru!"
"Fine fine, I'm taking that as a yes, but anyway, Iwa-chan just wants to make sure you're gonna be okay in life before he leaves (Y/n)."
There was another silence, a quiet sob escaping you that you’d desperately tried to cover up.
"…Where were you? I needed you Tōru and you weren’t there…"
You felt him cease up, the pain laced your voice and he knew it was partly because it’ll be this way for the foreseeable future, but this time wasn’t his fault.
“Iwa-chan was here when I got your message, he was out the house before I could even put my shoes on. So I waited here for when you came back.” They really were the best team. “Anyway, I’ll prepare my sisters old room for you to stay tonight.”
Awkwardly you shuffled into the kitchen, finding the Ace situated at the table, already changed into a t-shirt and joggers he had here and tiredly brooding over some freshly made tea.
"Hey..." The quietened whisper from your lips surprised even you, let alone Hajime who looked up from his cup with a softening frown.
"Hey, you okay?"
"Yeah, I um, I wanted to apologise. You were only trying to help and you even walked me home after I was a crappy friend so..."
"Anytime." There was a hanging silence again, hugging yourself a bit before the brunette awkwardly cleared his throat. "I uh, I understand you were upset, and butting in on the situation probably wasn't necessary so I'm sorry too. It just pissed me off."
"We're good then?"
"Yeah, we're good."
Pausing at the entrance, you sighed quietly - bare feet quickly tapping on the floor and before Hajime could check the origin you'd engulfed him from behind, arms wrapped around his chest and nose buried in the nape of his neck.
"I'll miss you too Hajime."
You heard his breath hitch, muscles tensing under your touch and tentative fingers gracing your own with a gently sigh.
Then you pulled away slightly, the same moment he'd looked back to you, gazes meeting for only a few sacred seconds like sharing a thousand words. Softly you smiled, both of you laughing as your fingers slipped from his figure and you'd walked back to the guest room. Only to find Oikawa sat expectantly on the bed waiting for you.
"You tell him?"
"Not quite. But I said enough."
———
He was a traitor.
Not a phase. It must be a familiarity thing then, Hajime had always been present in your life since you could remember. There wasn't a prolonged period of time when he hadn't been involved - at school, at home, with Oikawa, even on vacations, or via social media.
Maybe once he'd left, once he was no longer around, the constant familiarity wouldn't influence your feelings anymore.
For now though, when you were gifted a moment alone with him that’d likely be your last, you decided it couldn’t hurt to express your feelings. Calmly and nonchalantly.
"I like you Hajime."
"I like you too (Y/n)." He paused, soft and sentimental smile gracing his lips briefly as if resenting his next words. "But you know there's the age thing."
"I know, but I'm in it for the long game."
You could tell your confident statement caught him off guard, yes Iwaizumi knew the topic of conversation was to be handled with care but that didn’t mean he wasn’t perplexed by you.
"I don't want you to wait for me or anything, considering I'm heading to California."
"I had no intention of waiting, our paths will cross again. It's nice knowing you're out there, I'm out there, and we both know. That's enough." You shrugged, leaning back far too casually for the situation.
"Knowing we're both out in the world, I can play along with that."
"Besides, I'll win in the end Hajime."
"Oh yeah? What makes you so sure."
There was a playful smirk on your lips as you sat up a little straighter, hands clasped and head tilted in curiosity. "Well, date me now?"
"No way."
"Okay, then date me later?"
"..." Despite his snapping reply earlier, he now furrowed his brows in thought. "You don't even know what we'll being doing in the future."
"You're not saying no."
"..." A flicker of realisation when meeting your competitive gaze.
"See." You smirked. "That's what makes so sure."
"The long game huh?" Iwaizumi smiled "Count me in."
Oikawa joined you both then, stepping out onto the field and standing before your sitting figures.
"I'm still going to hate you though." A playful punch hitting Iwaizumis’ shoulder as you rose to your feet. "For leaving. I can't hide those feelings very well."
"I know, and it's okay. Hate me for as long as you need to."
“You two done? Let’s go~”
However it was the text later that night which left you more confused than ever.
[ Iwa: Finally. ]
[ (Y/n): Huh? ]
[ Iwa: I didn't give you an answer earlier, so that's it. ]
[ Iwa: Date you finally. ]
[ (Y/n): What does that mean? Eventually??? Later??? Iwaaaaa!!!! 😭 ]
[ Iwa: You're playing the long game remember?  So you'll just have to wait I guess. Anyways tell Shittykawa he better be up early tomorrow, night (Y/n) x ]
[ (Y/n): Tōrus' right, you are mean! 💀 ]
———
He was a friend.
"Someone grew up good." Iwaizumi nodded to you in greeting when you’d shown up to Oikawas’ family home, yourself gladly embracing the former traitor.
"Iwa-chan! That's my little chibi-chan!" Oikawa was quick to chastise, even at your expense.
"Tōru I'm not so little anymore, I'm a grown assed human with a job and rent for crying out loud!"
"With a petty attitude to boot." Oikawa mocked, sticking his tongue at you like you were children again.
"Wonder who they got that from Crappykawa?"
"How dare you compare me to him Iwaizumi?! That's it, we're enemies now - prepare to lose."
"I just got back from California, can't we do things normally for once? Like unpack, then celebrate my graduation by going out for dinner together like old times?"
Yourself and Oikawa looked at each other with offended expressions, mirroring smirks etching onto your lips once you'd set your attention back on an irritated Iwa.
"Nope!" You devilishly grinned, Oikawa already holding up Mario Kart controllers as he finished off.
"We're going to my place to have a tournament, loser buys dinner!"
"Idiots."
“Woah, us ‘idiots’ threw you a graduation party. We’re the best friends ever, you should be thanking rather than insulting us y’know.” Oikawa pointedly corrected referring to the destination later tonight.
“Yeah, when Tōru got back from the airport, we even tried making you a cake!”
“Guys… thanks so much…”
“Iwa-chan, congratulations on your graduation.” Tōru proudly cemented, next you gladly followed. “And welcome home.”
———
He was the love of your life.
It was a beautiful summers night in Tokyo, and you'd come to congratulate Iwaizumi on his recent job offer as the Japanese Olympic Volleyball Teams fitness trainer.
You didn't think you'd be sitting beside him staring up at the stars though, a blissful warm breeze allowing you to truly feel the moment.
It seemed Iwaizumi was the same, content smile upon his face.
"It's nice to see you (Y/n), I'm glad you made it."
"Well it's easier when you don't have to catch a flight from the other side of the world." It was evident to whom you’d referred, his absence always being felt in some way.
"Heh, yeah I got to speak to him over video chat though."
"Ugh that means he didn't get the slaps he deserves." Was your witty reply, Iwaizumi laughing alongside you.
"Nah, but don't worry I managed to scold him for anything ridiculous he came out with."
"Like beating everyone?"
"Exactly. With the team I'm gonna train, I'll kick his ass." It amazed you, that even as best friends their rivalry continued into adulthood.
"I hope you both do well Hajime."
"Hm, I hope Japan and Argentina get to face one another most of all."
"You miss him."
"Yeah." A sentimental smile and Iwa turned to you. "And I miss you too."
The atmosphere once again settled into that of comfortable tranquility. You supposed there was only one last thing to say then.
"Well Iwaizumi Hajime, I have one last question for you tonight."
"I know, you've been waiting. So go ahead." It was a challenge, the brunette facing you with an expectant smirk that matched your own.
"Date me now?"
"Don't you remember? I said date you, finally."
"Finally?" You mimicked again, still not knowing what he’d meant by that phrase.
"Guess the long game is over now huh?" Iwaizumi shrugged nonchalantly, despite his mocking tone which only left you sarcastically retorting.
"Shut up asshole."
"It meant, I may not have been your first love (Y/n), but I have every intention of being your last." His sentiment surprised you, especially if this is the thought he had when typing that text all those years ago. "If that's okay with you obviously."
"It is Hajime, then it's your call."
"(Y/n), will you finally go on a date with me?"
"No." You'd said it proudly, Hajime only knowingly smirking. "You don't get to take the victory lap now. This is my game, and I asked you first. You owe me an answer."
"Ah man, it was worth a shot but the only true loss here is missing the chance to be with you so yeah."
"Don't get all sappy on me Hajime! It doesn't suit you."
"Hey! I said I'd date you (Y/n), aren't I supposed to be a little sentimental with that." Though he seemed confident, Iwaizumi hadn’t hidden his blush very well.
"You might want to make another call to Oikawa, I'm sure dating his 'Chibi-chan' will have him back here in no time. Don't you need his permission huh?"
"Already got it." Iwaizumi seemed smug about it, no doubt probably asking prior to this encounter since he already knew what you wanted to ask - but you had your own surprises.
"Funny, I did too."
"You asked his permission to date me?!"
"Duh, you're his best friend. I got permission before you even left for California~"Not explicitly, but you assumed Oikawa had always known how you felt.
"You really had me from the start didn't you?"
"Yeah, but you had me too Iwa.”
Iwaizumi Hajime was (and had been) your everything. But you were always his everything too.

Bokuto Kōtarō: Misunderstanding
Fandom: Haikyuu!! — [ Masterlist ]
Summary: ~1.5k, fluff
• Bokuto likes you, but gets the completely the wrong idea. You’re fine being friends though, right? A MSBY beach training session will sort that out.
Warnings: None
>>>>——————————>
Tumblr media
Being surrounded by rowdy division 1 volleyball players wasn't how you expected it to be, you'd expected their level of professionalism to be carried over into their everyday lives - but this was not the case. Gladly so, honestly.
They were chaotic and mischievous, oblivious and loving, with a shenanigan never too far away. This was especially true for Bokuto, the wing Spiker who you'd become undeniably close with.
It was no secret he'd felt the same, always greeting you first and walking you home if you remained after his false promises of 'one more'.
MSBY could see it plain as day, though Bokuto had insisted you were only one of his best friends, there was a growing attraction imbued to his actions. How his gaze softened upon seeing you, how he'd memorised your boundaries so he could utilise physical contact, and how he'd effortlessly fit into your everyday life.
The teasing of his current teammates was swiftly dismissed as a joke however, when he received a visit from a particular nutritionist that seemed to shatter everyones' perceptions. Yukippe and Bokuto spent the entire visit by one another's side leaving you all to simply get on with your respective jobs.
"So you're pretty close with them huh?"
Shirofuku Yukie observed, the former manager of Fukurōdani - a team Bokuto truly cherished and would enthusiastically talk to you about late into the night and then profusely apologise for keeping you out so late whilst walking you home or preparing his bed for you to crash in. Yet every time, the love never faded.
It meant Yukie, like the rest of the team, was special to him.
"Didn't you hear me tell you the last 10 times Yukippe? We're not together, only friends and that's it - right (Y/n)?" He'd called after you for support when you'd walked past, yourself heaving a dejected sigh when answering and leaving the room.
"Platonic with a capital P."
The nutritionist seemed a little deflated by your deadpan response and lack of flustering to her claims as you disappeared through the gym doors, having hoped you'd felt the same attraction as her old Ace clearly did to you.
"Friends don't... you don't look at your friends like that Kōtarō. Not once did you ever look at Fukurōdani like that." Yukie pleadingly justified, both former Fukurōdani members outcast from the speculation regarding them.
"I know... but I can't help it." Bokuto hummed hopelessly, the truth making his emotions even more jarring. "I'd date them in a heartbeat, honestly."
"Then why don't you birdbrain?"
"Eh?! Because I can't! They're just not into... I mean they prefer..." He froze again, this time due to his uncertainty about your sexuality being public knowledge - you'd scolded him on not thinking before he speaks multiple times, and this was one of those times. "They're... just a friend."
———
It was the day you dreaded, the MSBY Jackals had decided to head out to the beach to try an unorthodox form of training recommended by Hinata. The man had experience as a beach volleyball player and suggested playing on sand had increased both his power and balance for on court matches also.
So here you stood, watching a bunch of physically fit pro athletes in swimwear play varying matches of beach volleyball. You'd crafted a necessary regime though and prepared everything required, and it seemed your team were surprised by your less formal appearance (as you're fairly certain this trip wasn't entirely for training purposes considering they'd reserved a chunk of their schedule for swimming and such).
As expected they'd garnered a fair bit of admiration but you remained oblivious to the attention you were getting, even if the team were protectively aware. All the more amusing when Bokuto noticed it too, overhearing a nearby strangers comment along the lines of "...really hot, I'll try to talk to them when they’re finished talking and I get the chance." directed toward you.
It was no surprise (to the team) when their loud mouth decided to make an overly showy entrance.
"Then we can work on— argh the hell?" You pulled the MSBY track jacket from your head, revealing a bemused team and happy-go-lucky Bokuto walking backwards presenting himself with arms wide.
"Don't want you damaging your skin in the sun!" A double thumbs up and cheesy grin was sent your way courtesy of the spiker much to your chagrin. Is this how that Akaashi guy felt catching jackets all the time?
Regardless you put it on, resuming your informative update and even when you were done, you missed the unanimous smirks of the team due to no interruptions despite having the chance.
MSBY had taken a brief break in the sea / sunbathing and to your expectancy there was a commotion in the water, having used your hand as shade to see you immediately regretted doing so. Kōtarō had stepped out of the ocean, muscles dripping and hair unfairly framing his face with a bright grin on his features. You hated this job, you hated this job, god dammit why?! Naturally he was greeted by two beautiful women and you're certain they'd complimented him and asked a question but he strolled right past them - only then did you realise his gaze was locked on you.
In a second a finger gently lifted your chin and you were met with the most beautiful sight you'd ever seen in your life, the sunlight highlighting his skin only disabling your thoughts further.
"Hey hey hey! What are you staring at (Y/n)? You zoned out."
"Uh— I, breathtaking..." You'd breathed it in way that caught Kōtarō off guard, amber irises analytically scanning your eyes, then lips, prior to turning to the horizon which snapped you back to reality.
"Yeah it is an incredible view huh?" He'd moved to stand by your side now, hands proudly on his hips.
"Yeah the view." A pause, then a glare. "Kōtarō those women...!"
"He really doesn't have eyes for anyone else does he?" Hinata chuckled, watching the scene unfold alongside Atsumu.
"Nah, (Y/n) is the only one who doesn't realise though."
They overheard your faint protest of how 'women were trying to talk to him and he shouldn't have just ignored them like that' but Bokuto seemed to happily dismiss it.
"Why so mad? Did you think they were pretty? I can introduce you if you want (Y/n)?"
His reply was questionable, and once Bokuto had gone over to Atsumu and Hinata (who were defitely flustering him about something) you fell into thought. You'd seen Atsumu address everyone who tried to flirt with him, the same with the other players but the fact Bokuto had just ignored them was so strange. Normally he enjoyed praise after matches, or any time really. Maybe he'd reached his limit today?
You didn’t have time to further ponder it though when you were interrupted by the aforementioned trio.
“Hey (N/n)! We’re gonna have another game, will you be my partner?”
“Did you run out of teammates or something? Or did Sakusa say no?”
“No! Jeez, I wanted you to set for me is that such a crime?” Bokuto jokingly pouted, yourself only shaking your head in bemusement.
“I’m in, makes sense to put the two Spikers on different teams.”
“Sure. That’s why Bokkun asked.”
———
It was a late practice tonight but you still thought the beach trip a week ago had imbued them with motivation. As the final practice match came to an end, the team prepared to head off separately. However, Meians’ partner had come for him today and you regretfully found yourself admiring the pair - how they'd brought food for him, and waited for him to go home together.
A defeated sigh escaped you, and only then did you take note of the presence beside you.
"Are you thinking about trying whatever they were eating?" Kōtarō spoke, gym bag over his shoulder having followed your direction of sight.
"Sorta? Well more like... no it's stupid." You embarrassingly waved it off, starting toward the exit when a gentle grip clasped your wrist.
"I'll still listen, stupid is more fun. Plus now I'm hungry."
You watched as he planted himself on the bench, a competitive aura about him that said 'I’m not moving until you tell me' and who were you to deny the person who was walking you home.
"Well, I was just thinking about going out with someone but I don't think it's in the cards for me."
Your calm nature and words seemed to surprise him, Bokutos' eyes widening slightly and for a second you swore he was contemplating more than usual.
"You're really awesome, you know that right?" You turned to him now, completely puzzled. "Anyone would be so lucky to have you, I'd be ecstatic, so try to see yourself how I see you."
"If you see me so positively, maybe you should just date me yourself Kōtarō." You jokingly laughed along with that accompaniment when he abruptly stood up with renewed determination.
"I would! I love you as a friend anyway and I've liked you for ages, but I can't."
"What?! I thought you liked Shirofuku hence why you were telling her we were just friends." You facepalmed, but reiterated your point of view to aid with his understanding.
"No I— I thought you were only into girls!"
There was a mortified silence, like the whole gymnasium had heard this and decided to tune in to listen. You're almost certain you heard Atsumu choke.
"Since when?! Where did you even get the idea?"
“Huh? I dunno, overheard ‘Tsum ‘Tsum mention it once, and you’ve never been bothered by male attention so I didn’t pry.”
“And you believed Miya Atsumu instead?!” You swear you heard the entire remaining team unanimously facepalm, grumbling curses under their breath despite Miyas’ hopeless protest.
“You gotta trust your teammates right? But when you put it like that…” Bokuto looked sheepish, despite his adamant defence of his setter which only left you laughing out loud.
“What’s so funny? It was a misunderstanding, I didn’t treat you differently and love you all the same no matter who you like.”
You paused, sighing hopelessly with a soft smile matching your new tone.
"Bokuto... I like you."

Bakugou Katsuki: Interviews
Fandom: BNHA // MHA — [ Masterlist ]
Summary: ~0.6k, fluff
• Working with Dynamight is complicated and he has a weird way of showing emotions, but you’re slowly learning just as he is about you.
Warnings: Mature language, timeskip
A/N: I’m gonna do a mini series for this! I have too many ideas for it. I’ll add the series Masterlist once I’ve done more! 😇
>>>>——————————>
Tumblr media
Another day, another crime~
As a hero, it kept you occupied and working with illustrious pro Dynamight was certainly no dull task. It was another win for the two of you, now swept up in whatever media coverage team had gotten to each of you first at the scene.
"The question everyone is asking Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight - are you single?" The inquiry almost made you burst out laughing, apparently it was a hot gossip magazine reporter who interrogated a furious Bakugou - he hated those sorts of things.
"The hell? I'm too busy blasting villains to smitheries for that shit!" The hero went to walk away, only to be cornered by the persistent interviewer, much to your prolonged amusement.
"Sounds like you're available. Ah wait! Before you go..."
You'd zoned out by this point, boredly looking around when you became excitedly distracted - since Bakugō was more famous in the ranking, he had everyone's attention which worked out for you.
Soon enough you rejoined his side once he'd started vacating the scene, neatly wrapped parcel obtained and a spring to your step.
"The fuck were you?"
"Ouch, someone's more pissy than usual." He growled dismissively at that, sparing you an aggressive side eye before retaliating.
"Shut your damn mouth, they were asking stupid fucking questions about my personal life."
"Oooh? Like what?" You knew, of course you did, they tended to be quite predictable but he causally answered you anyway.
"What my type was and shit."
"What'd you say?"
"Said someone who doesn't piss me off."
"Bakugou, everyone pisses you off!" You laughed aloud, lightly punching his arm as he turned to you in shock, pushing you three times as hard.
"The fuck?! You don't! My friends don't!"
"You literally yelled at Shōto the other day over cooking."
"Damn Icyhot wasn't chopping the chives right. Still can't fucking do it properly." He’d adamantly argued, turning to you with renewed irritation. "And we're not friends!"
"Suuurre. They ask anything else?"
"I didn't listen to the rest and told 'em to fuck off."
It remained comfortably silent for a few minutes as you strolled down the illuminating streets of the city.
"Here, from my detour."
You'd learned over your time spent with the pro, that his most peaceful moments occurred whilst he was eating - which is why you held out the package of Onigiri you'd picked up from the local vendor during his impromptu interview.
Bakugou still issued you a deadly glare when accepting it, but with lack of accusatory curses you took it as a win.
It wasn't until a few days later that you got an impromptu call from Katsuki after you'd finished up a fight.
"You coming to my agency tonight?"
"See, it's not an impromptu visit when you know about it." Was your sarcastic retort, a gruff tut on the other end signalling his frustration.
"You're here so damn often that I expect it extra."
"Ugh yeah, I was heading over now but why did you—"
He'd hung up.
"Here." A bento box was harshly shoved to your chest the moment you’d walked through his office door, barely a second before you could actually clasp it whilst you shot furrowed brows to the explosive blonde in scepticism.
"What the?"
"For the Onigiri."
"No, that was j—"
"Shut up and fuckin' eat extra, I’ve got paperwork to do."
Bakugou returned to his desk, leaving you standing dumbfounded and after a confused moment, carefully manoeuvred the bento to actually admire it. Homemade and meticulously presented - you’d expect no less than perfection from him.
“Thanks…”
“S’nothing.”

Todokoroki Touya: His Hero
Fandom: BNHA // MHA — [ Masterlist ]
Summary: ~2.1k, fluff
• Shoto looked up to his big brother, and on your frequent visits you only realised how much when you get roped into multiple Todoroki family shenanigans.
Warnings: Mature language, hero!Touya AU, slight spoilers
>>>>——————————>
Tumblr media
The way the young boy looked at him was mesmerising, like he'd hung the stars in the sky and had magic dancing between his fingers - Touya truly was his hero.
Shoto could've picked anyone, he had a world renowned 'role model' as a father, and All Might graced the news almost every night, but he'd adamantly fixated on his big brother.
Over the years you'd bare witness to it, once becoming friends with Touya through school, internships, and matters of coincidence, you’d understood when he said his (annoying) little brother was his biggest fan.
Shoto would always tail his blue-flamed brother, having an innate desire to always be near him and learn from him. It irritated Touya occasionally (or when the inferiority kicked in), being constantly haunted by his baby sibling to a near obsessive degree would irritate anyone, and Natsuo had heard his fair share of rants about it when they went to bed.
That was just sibling behaviour though, and in a way Touya found it endearing that Shoto -the chosen child- was enamoured by him.
You noticed that little signs happened more often when Endeavour was absent and the family had some downtime, Shoto would follow in his brothers footsteps quite literally, even attempting to imitate his mannerisms and the way he walked. Shoto stole pieces of Touyas’ hero costume when he was gone - the long jacket especially oversized as it flowed behind like a cape when sprinting through the corridors. If Touya was ever missing any equipment, he’d head straight for Shotos’ room with a bored and exasperated sigh.
Shoto would often sneak out to watch his brother train, you'd caught him once when you went to grab drinks - the two toned mess of hair peering through the walkway banister that overlooked the training ground you'd just come from. He’d copy his fighting style, often awed by how his brother could mimic a move after seeing it once whilst it took Shoto hours of practice. The youngest Todoroki (8 years old at this point) was so absorbed in watching Touya practicing, he was oblivious to your presence.
"Whatcha doing~?"
Immediately he'd startled at your melodious tone, a slight gasp of surprise escaping as he'd dropped his mimicking stance.
"Watching Touya-nii train! He's so awesome."
Now by all means you could dash his hope by promising to kick his big bros cocky ass, but you offered a soft smile instead.
"Yeah, he is."
"I wanna be just like him when I grow up!"
Okay that you couldn't hold back on, teenage Touya Todoroki was a force to be reckoned with and you’d wrought hell on each other atop Sekoto Peak more often than not.
"Nah, you'll be better Shoto, and less annoying~"
———
Even when he reached the age of 12, Shoto was still fascinated by him and continued to imitate his skills, actually capable of being an opponent now - especially with Touya working as a Pro Hero after reluctantly starting off in Endeavours Agency.
On the days you'd come to visit unannounced to drop something off, it wasn't long before Shoto bombarded past Rei and into your figure with the same questions every time:
"Have you seen Touya today? What's he been up to? Did you see any villains?"
And every time you'd tell a tale of his brothers’ heroics (with a dash of his dumbassery) that’d you’d experienced when working with Touya on missions to an excited Shoto before he was dragged back to training by a scolding Endeavour again.
———
It was rare, but on the odd occasion you'd get roped into playing Heroes vs Villains - disguised as a training regime. At least that's how yourself and the Todoroki siblings had portrayed it to Endeavour and the hired trainers but it was honestly to make it more fun.
Touya could rarely be asked with it either but for some reason he stayed, and entertained the game this time with his characteristic theatrics.
"Alright Shoto, I'm the villain. Always wanted to know what that'd be like anyhow."
"I'll be the hero, (Y/n) will be my partner and—"
"Can't Natsuo or Fuyumi be your partner?" Touya automatically argued, meanwhile Shoto deadpan explained the ‘rules’ of this scenario - still excited for his role as hero.
"No they're the civilians you've taken hostage."
"Fine, then maybe you don't need a partner."
"But you have (Y/n) as a partner on missions sometimes."
"Yeah but what if I want a villain sidekick?" Touya justified, narrowing his sapphire eyes at his little sibling with a flare of his jacket whilst Shoto again replied straightforwardly.
"Natsuo or Fuyumi can be one."
Fuyumi merely chuckled at the masked dispute, yourself turning to her in amused confusion.
"Oh (Y/n)-san, they're both so oblivious that they don't realise they're fighting over you."
"Idiots. Touyas 20, he’s supposed to be mature." Natsuo sighed whilst you could only agree.
Eventually Touya gave in, claiming he's strong enough to take you all on without a sidekick so do your worst.
It began as actual training, teaching Shoto defensive manoeuvres with Touya being one of the very few Shoto was comfortable to use his fire quirk around. You’d assisted in physical combat, often using Touya as a training dummy to demonstrate combinations to the younger siblings who were eager to spar amongst themselves. Natsuo and Fuyumi choosing to observe after a while.
It wasn’t until after the technicalities that the game started properly. Naturally everyone playfully fought each other, Touya allowing Shoto to gain the upper hand. Of course to mess with his little siblings he'd unexpectedly taken you hostage as a twist in the tale.
"What are you gonna do without your partner, will you give up little hero?" He’d teased it charismatically, proudly dancing with you as a form of taunt and it wasn’t until he’d twirled you and pulled you into his chest so that you were face to face with that smug smirk that his siblings went on the offensive.
You didn't miss how Touya grabbed your waist a little tighter when they'd tried to wrestle you from him. How warm and rosy his skin felt when you whispered you would always be his partner in reality, but unfortunately in this game you'd die before betraying Shoto.
With a lacklustre sigh he'd slumped to the ground, Shoto hanging off his shoulders and Natsuo nudging his side whilst Fuyumi wrapped herself around your arm having 'rescued' you.
"Now we live happily ever after!" Shoto exclaimed, bounding over and proudly clasping your hand within both of his own.
"What?!" Came Touyas' puzzled outburst when sitting up just a little bit straighter, yourself ruffling Shotos’ hair and kneeling next to the pouting eldest.
"Aw did the big bad heroes best you? Poor Touya-chan." Begrudgingly he ignored you, vengefully pulling you to the ground beside him before snapping back to the youngest who now deadpan explained his reasoning.
"(Y/n) and I saved the day so now we get married and stay together for the rest of our lives."
"That's only in mums' bedtimes stories! Real life missions don't end like that, you know (Y/n) and I come here for dinner after our missions. We don't live happily ever after, there's always more shit." Touya adamantly reminded him, brushing off his brothers’ ‘childish’ justifications with little remorse.
"That sounds like your problem."
You had to withhold giggles at the unbridled bluntness of the youngest Todoroki as he continued. "In this game—"
Everyone stopped, a calm Shoto cut off with eyes widening in awe and surprise. They'd all watched as their eldest brother tangled his fingers in your hair and instinctively pulled your lips to his. Fiery kiss as brief as it was, still managed to burn their trains of thought to ash with its blazing abruptness.
"Game over."
It was said in a smug tone, like a villain outsmarting a hero, as if he'd successfully proved a point and you'd supposed he would have if his actions hadn't drastically overshadowed that.
"Touya...?"
"Did you just kiss (Y/n)?!"
“…”
"Shit." It was breathed out, piercing analytic gaze befalling you and noting even the most negligible reaction. "I didn't even ask, are—"
"Don't, it's fine. I was just caught off guard."
The two of you stared at each other, as if desperately trying to understand the others thoughts through silent conversation. It was thick with a fluttering tension, Fuyumi carefully guiding away a young Shoto with a knowing smile gracing her features. The same knowing that laced it’s way into Natsuos’ smirk.
"Time for us to start dinner I think Shoto."
"But what about Touya-nii and (Y/n), I'll wait with them." Shoto tried, attempting to swerve out of Fuyumis’ guidance only to bump into Natsuo.
"Nah, they're gonna need a bit of alone time~"
The absence of the siblings didn't register, still sat in a somewhat hesitant and awkward position with Touya and all.
"So you were okay, with me kissing you?"
"Ye- yeah, were you okay with it?"
"I started it, of course I was." Touya chuckled at that, casually resting his forearms on his knees. “I wanted to kiss you idiot."
"To be honest, you're gonna get roasted by your siblings so I think it’s worth it." You’d lightened up too, nudging him back twice as hard.
"I already get shit from Natsuo about us so this is just fuel to the fire."
"What?"
"He says we should 'fess up already, I figured it'd work itself out. If you like me back then I'll know." He nonchalantly shrugged, shaking his head at the thought whilst you contrastingly replied in pure surprise.
"You really feel that way about me?"
"Duh, I’m not one for mushy stuff but haven't you noticed?"
"Haven't you? I've been flirting with you for the past year!" You were quick to stand now, as if gesturing wildly would emphasise your point - Touya equally as instantaneous to follow suit.
"Hah! I would've asked you out if you did."
"Touya I literally brushed hair out of your face and complimented how it was like snow last week - with eye contact!"
"So? You compliment me all the time, I still don't get why you were sorting out my hair, you had debris in yours too."
Furrowing your brows at him, and making a face that could only be translated to 'are you fucking kidding me right now', you waited for the painful realisation to hit him. Hard, hopefully.
That’s when his eyes sparked with something, a beautiful blush of embarrassment or flustering crawling across his skin once breaking his burning gaze with you.
"In my defence you should've been more obvious. I—" That’s when you cut him off with a kiss, he wasn't going to refuse when leaning into you challengingly and you felt a smirk form on his lips prior to pulling away.
"Now we're even."
"Nah." He'd lowly hummed the disagreement into your ear, hot hot breath sending an electric shiver down your spine when he'd placed another searing kiss to the neck area just below your ear.
"Now you're mine, partner."
You'd both broke into satisfied laughter at that, remaining in each others embrace for as long as you could before being summoned for dinner or interrupted by an impatient Shoto.
———
Shoto was unusually restless that night, Rei coming to check on him before he went to sleep out of concern.
"Mother, you were right."
"About what Shoto?"
"All those bedtime stories you used to tell me when I was younger - the hero does fall in love and lives happily ever after at the end."
"Oh? What makes you so sure?" She gave a soft smile of admiration, a sense of puzzlement imbuing her considering she hadn’t told those stories in quite a few years. Also, she’d figured Shoto was too mature to linger on such things now too.
"Touya-nii and (Y/n) fell in love today. Based on the way they act, I think they'll be together forever."
It was an overstatement, to fall in love so fast, the kind of magic wonderment only children could see in the world, but Rei chuckled nonetheless.
"I'm glad they finally worked that out for themselves, before any silly quirk marriages got discussed." She smiled kindly at the boy, him missing the hidden meaning behind her sentiment. "Shoto, you want to be like your brother right?"
Eagerly he nodded, leaning forward in his own excitement and hanging on his mothers words.
"Then choose to be with someone you love like Touya did rather than having them chosen for you, okay?"
"How will I know?" Shoto tilted his head quizzically, blinking adorably blankly.
"You'll feel it, like how (Y/n) makes Touya radiate that warm glow, and how he would do anything in his power to be there for them. Find a love or friendship like that when you're older, promise?" "Promise!"
———
Years had passed since then, Shoto now knew 3 heroes in the top 10 ranks personally - 2 of them being his own flesh and blood - and from frequently visiting yours and Touyas’ shared home, he’d become acquainted with Hawks (since he was his brothers best friend).
Shoto had already decided he wanted to intern at Touyas' agency, but his classmates were still electric with their potential opportunities. Smiling subconsciously at the recent message illuminating his phone, he's pulled back into the warm chatterings of Izuku, Iida and Ochako who comfortably stood beside him and, he thinks this is exactly what his mother had meant.
[ Todoroki (Y/n): Good luck to you and your friends on your exam Shoto!!! Touya says if you fail blame Endeavour! 😇 ]

Ryomen Sukuna: Malevolent Shrine
Fandom: Jujutsu Kaisen — [ Masterlist ]
Summary: ~3.5k, angst, lil fluff
• Chaos is reining in the golden age, rumours say the cause is a demon named Ryomen Sukuna. But when a man with a dark aura shows up to your shrine not vying for your power - who are you to turn him away?
Warnings: f!reader, priestess!reader, mature language, suggestive themes, character death, blood, violence, murder, set in golden age of Jujutsu.
A/N: Hi 👋 Forgive the length, and it’s been a while so I’m not sure about it - BUT it was so fun to write that I got carried away haha.
>>>—————————>
Tumblr media
The golden age of sorcery they'd call it.
You were one of the most powerful sorcerers in the Era of Heian, deemed a holy priestess and guardian of the local shrine. Blessings were given by your hands and curses effortlessly slain by them.
You had affiliations with the major clans, many sought your partnership to create the most powerful heir in the sorcerer world once combining your cursed techniques with their own legacy. Yet each proposal you refused, claiming your duty remained to the shrine and people for the moment - an excuse difficult for them to refute but it did not deter their efforts at courtship. Power was an alluring motivator.
It became eerily unnerving then when an overpowering amount of unrecognised cursed energy passed your shrine gate, emitting from a muscular man with rosy hair that seemed too pure for his intentions. Regardless he smiled at you, not warmly like the rest of your visitors - no, this was deceivingly cunning as scarlet irises analytically scanned over your form.
"A woman."
"Arrogance."
"Hm?"
"I thought we were stating the obvious." Your wit earned you an impressed but warning look, this person held recognised power judging by the way he commanded attention.
"I'll forgive you that one remark, the next will come at a cost. I heard a strong sorcerer resided here, I'm surprised it's not a man considering society of this age - that is praise in itself priestess."
"I do not need your praise. If you're seeking strong sorcerers it must be for a purpose yes?"
"Fight me, if you survive I’ll consider telling you."
"Not in my shrine, blood will not be spilled here." Sporting a grateful smile, your attention flicked to the scrolls adorning the wall and intricately crafted sculptures decorating the shrine.
Normally he could care less for personal requests, but something about your serene demeanour and your willingness to engage in battle left him with a modicum of respect for your decisions.
It was a ferocious clash with taunting remarks, destruction, and mild bloodshed. Despite defeating you, it was clear this mysterious stranger had no intention of killing you. Instead, he re-tied his robes once his wounds began to heal with his reversed curse technique and gifted you with his name in exchange for yours. He tasted it in his mouth, tongue darting across his lips in a sinister smile when tugging at your signature black scarf.
"I prefer 'holy one' better, suits your disposition. Although you are powerful, priestess." It was meant as an insult rather than homage to your title, you supposed it was less degrading than it could be even if the condescending tone suggested otherwise.
"Thanks, you too."
From the way he carried himself and your previous battle, you'd learned that dark tattoos laced his skin and that he was a leader - you'd heard stories of the Yamato family recently overthrowing a leader. They'd twisted him to be a monster, a demon even, as justification for their actions and you'd thought it was a form of propaganda. However, the image they'd cultivated certainly seemed to fit the attractive man standing before you now - whether or not he was like this as a ruler remained unknown but you hadn't heard of such.
He left after your battle, something about finding other sorcerers and you didn't expect to see him again. Was he seeking revenge?
———
Apparently he'd taken up residence in your province, or at least frequented your shrine often enough to become well acquainted with you. You'd spar more often than not, venture out to kill dangerous curses together, or eat at the shrine when he'd appear late in the evenings.
"Hello holy one."
"Greetings traveller..." You finished sharpening a katana, rising to your feet to meet the familiarly dark presence, apparently equipped with a request this time.
"I require your blessings to strengthen my power. I’m interested in their effect."
Never had you hesitated upon giving blessings to enhance another's cursed energy, it’s what many came to you for - but he still exuded that same overwhelming evil as he did before. One which had you second guessing the use of your blessings if entrusted to him.
"You're plenty powerful without my gifts." It was true, and with the recently sharpened blade by your side he was even more tempted to argue.
"My work would be done far quicker with your aid little Miko."
"Tough. Train harder I guess, I can spar with you if you'd like? Or I have word of a special grade tormenting a village to the south." As rebuttal to his arrogant complaint, your proposition left him grinning once more.
"Either will suffice, I am bored of pathetic opponents."
This sorcerer was sadistic in nature, striking curses with deadly techniques and holding little tolerance for indulging his opponents. He could back up his confidence with power - cursed, physically, and intellectually as you'd noted from various outings. Although as manipulative as he was, the attempts failed to work on you, you'd stick to your morals even if he had none.
He'd scoff at the offerings you'd receive, not those to the shrine but those explicitly delivered to you by Clan messengers, graciously you accepted and gladly he'd burn them to ashes.
"Chrysanthemums? They're really trying to win you over, how amusingly weak."
"I actually like chrysanthemums, so curse you, and these 'admirers' won't even deliver things themselves. They want my power, not me."
"Foolish imbeciles, it’s easier to take what you want." His characteristic remark set you to overthinking, it was how he lived after all, what's to stop others from doing the same?
"..."
"What's with you holy one?" Of course the tattooed sadist noticed your discomfort, he was probably irritated he wasn't the cause of it.
"Nothing, but if not for my shrine and if the Zenins' had their way, I doubt I'd have the gift of choice."
"The Zenins huh? Where are they located, priestess." A chill shot down your spine with his protective tone, almost like a cascade of spasms that had you turning to him with scepticism.
"Why?"
"I'd like to burn some more chrysanthemums, or anything else they'd like to threaten you with."
Peculiar the fact he didn't use 'court', or 'bribe', had he known they were growing impatient with your refusals? Regardless you handed over the fish you'd caught for dinner in the lake earlier that day in hopes of dismissing the subject.
"Focus on not burning the fish instead would you?"
———
Soon the dreadful stories of Ryomen Sukuna reached your shrine and villages, how he was mercilessly killing sorcerers through Japan with a brutality that could make you sick. They'd titled him the 'King of Curses' and the 'Disgraced One' - a hauntingly evil demon that left a trail of chaos in his wake. His description felt familiar, and though handsome or attractive was never a classification, you couldn't help but linger on your immoral visitor.
This time you'd pointed your Yari at his throat upon his entrance through the powerfully tall red shrine gate, a three pronged spear with white silk tied to the pole below the blade only a kiss away from piercing his skin.
"Sukuna."
His eyes sparked to life with the name, deep voice teasing when addressing you so casually.
"How long did it take you to figure that out priestess?"
"Too long."
"Are you going to try to kill me. Many powerful sorcerers have tried, and many graves were made for their desecrated remains." It sickened you that he was obviously telling the truth, you'd never felt him lie to you nor hide his violent desires so it surprised him slightly when you brought the Yari back to your side and looked at him with only a slightly harsher glare than normal.
"Actually no. I am stifled as to why you often come here, but if you were a demon then my sorcery would incinerate your skin the moment you crossed my shrines' threshold."
"And my massacres?"
"You haven't brought blood here, and I do not harm sorcerers or humans as this is a place of sanctuary. Which means you may come and go as you please."
Sukuna scoffed at your nonchalance, he felt the lack of resentment within you, clearly you'd rejected his immorality but your attitude toward him hadn't changed despite your deadpan tone. It was frustratingly admirable.
"You truly are the holy one, a precious gift from the spirits themselves - regardless of duty, and this shrines' laws of sanctuary, most would command my death."
"I wouldn’t blame them, nor would I stop them." You heartlessly replied, watching as the 'demon' turned to exit the gate.
"I'll be back once I've killed some more people then, my precious priestess."
"You monstrous bastard, may the spirits haunt you." This was venomous, and that left him satisfied upon leaving you this time.
———
With him came more stories of death and destruction, of pleading sorcerers and curse-less humans alike flooding to your ancient shrine gate to beg your assistance. The same gate Sukuna would enter bearing severed remains to leave outside as 'offerings' when visiting you, purely as a cruel sentiment to torture you without tainting what you held scared. Blood never spilled inside the shrine. The same gate he'd also pass through holding ingredients to a meal he'd intend to prepare when you'd exhaust your energy helping the visitors.
"For you, priestess."
"I hate that you are good at everything you do, that a meal so fine is crafted by the hands of a murderer." You begrudgingly admitted once tasting his homemade dish, the devil sitting opposite you rather smugly.
"A murderer you're currently eating with brat."
It was true, a weird connection remained despite what he'd done, but you'd banish thoughts of ever exploring your bond. Forbade it, for he did not care for you, Sukuna did not care for anyone. Besides, part of you wanted him dead.
"I used to be able to say I'd eaten with worse, that is no longer the case."
"Glad to hear it, blessed one."
"Fuck you Sukuna."
"Don't tempt me in tainting that purity of yours priestess, you'll hate yourself for enjoying it."
"Not even in your darkest dreams Sukuna, if I've rejected the Gojo heir then you don't stand a chance. His eyes were truly mesmerising..." You added a wistful sigh for dramatics, spinning a chopstick between your fingers and pointing it at him in victory.
"You're weaker than I thought if you’re swayed by a man’s eyes. They’re easily removed… Besides, only I have the pleasure of eating and training with you. Those pathetic heirs wish they were in my position." With a proud grin due to your avast silence, Sukuna continued eating but you couldn’t argue the truth.
In honesty you didn't know where you stood with him, if he was eliminating anybody and everybody, you should've been dead long ago. The opportunity was forever present, you'd leave the shrine constantly and have hunted special grades with Sukuna. Why were you still breathing?
———
It was a foggy day this morning, screams of death and curses had filled your nightmares the previous night and you'd suspected Ryomen Sukuna was the cause of them. His desire for destruction, power, and revenge were growing insatiable...
"Oh holiest one, my precious priestess." Even now, the King of Curses never made you flinch when he called to you. It should’ve though.
"What do you want?"
"To taint you." Wickedly quick and taunting, you were equally as brutal to him.
"You've already tainted my peace, I think you're done."
"Mm, you are one of the most powerful sorcerers of our time. Hell I know they've asked you to fight against me - yet you decline." He grinned at that, dangerous curiosity noticed once you'd finished the cleansing ritual.
"I don't wish to use my powers to harm humans, I've told you that before."
"Not even for me? I'm basically more curse than human now anyway." Sukunas' voice lowly teased once approaching you, a black clawed hand curling around your waist whilst the other interlaced with your signature scarf to pull you closer.
"No your not! You're still—" Composing yourself, you breathed a defeated sigh once taking note of his demonic nails before continuing and pushing him away at arms length. "Nevermind, just tell me what you came for."
"You. Imagine the most damned sorcerer of all time claiming the people's beloved priestess as his own. Being the one to taint your purity when all the noble families are vying for your hand in marriage. Poetic irony isn't it?"
"Or twisted sadism perhaps?" A manic laugh echoed throughout the shrine at your retort, smugly meeting your disinterested gaze with a dangerously pleased crimson one.
"You know me well, so much for trying to be nice about it."
"Nice doesn't suit you."
“Train with me won’t you, priestess?”
Ignoring his distasteful scoff, your concerned gaze lingered on his bare toned torso and scarred muscular back for a while. Despite being a ruthless killer, he'd always spoke the truth and he was right in saying many strong sorcerers had approached you for aid in defeating him. Yet you refused over and over, maybe you saw something in Sukuna? Or maybe you were grateful he saw something in you?
For now they were unawares that he lingered around you so often else you’re sure the shrine would be desolate by now. Although, you wondered if his unmatched tactical intellect had deduced just how desperate the sorcerer world was to rid the earth of him - if he knew what violating lines they were willing to blur to do it. To get you to do it...
———
It was almost humbling, when sat before the shrine alter, you found yourself more trusting of Sukuna than the prominent sorcerer families standing against him. A ridiculous and immoral notion considering he was undoubtedly the villain in this story - yet he has always been open with his intentions no matter their brutality.
The jujutsu sorcerers however were filled with secrets, scowling at you when you'd declined their orders of fighting him, and threatening you due to your consistent rejection. Sukuna at least, had never disrespected your decisions - he'd laugh at them, call them pathetic when you refused to bless him - but never had he bribed or blackmailed you to change them like the jujutsu leaders had.
Gods and curses, had you truly fallen so far? Granted, you'd rather die than stand beside Sukuna in his inhumane quest, but was that truly redeeming when you felt like this?
It didn't matter now anyway with what was coming, but you thought a few moments of peace to realise such feelings was a fitting end.
It was then the doors slammed open, 7 of the most powerful sorcerers in the nation (outside of the clans’ bloodlines) entering the shrine temple in sorrowful silence. Your executioners.
Carefully, you rose to your feet and turned to warmly meet them. You noted the expressions of mourning and regret already clouding them, their auras poisoned with nothing but melancholy even though they hadn't followed through with the heinous act yet.
"I don't use my curse against sorcerers or humans. That includes you."
"We know (L/n)-sama, but to defeat Sukuna we must do anything possible. Including using cursed spirits of the dead." It was spoken with an accompaniment of cursed energy being summoned, and sharp blades being raised whilst you lowered your Yari.
"Killing me will only make him stronger."
"We shall see..." The strongest sincerely vowed, bowing to you - a hand finding comfort in clasping the sacred scarf you always wore around your neck - then he spoke again. "We beg your forgiveness priestess, and pray for your blessings."
"I grant neither."
———
Sukuna felt something off in the world, as strong as he was, he was also acutely aware of your cursed energy whether by choice or circumstance. So when he felt it waver, he was outside of your shrine at immense speeds others wouldn’t fathom.
Blood was familiar to him, it usually brought a wicked grin to his face, just like any massacre - but this was distinctly your scent, your blood. Though he still wore a smirk, it was tainted with a deadly malice and when he strolled in with intimidating confidence it became apparent to your executioners that they too were dead.
"Blood will not be spilled here. For disregarding the request of my holy priestess, you shall pay tenfold. I will gladly collect your debt on her behalf."
More blood decorated the area like a flood courtesy of his cursed technique, torturously leaving them on the brink of death in immense pain as Sukuna made his way to your lifeless body.
They were cruel about murdering you (something he'd admire if anyone else), almost staining the entirety of the shrine in your personal scarlet paint and yet, you still offered a bloodied smirk when Sukuna knelt at your side.
"They're still— al-live... you're getting... la-lazy and yo-you ruined my scr-scrolls."
"Shut your damn mouth and heal already."
You spoke his name over his compassionless demands, his true name, to grab his attention. "I'm not—"
"I'll fucking heal you then, useless priestess." Instantly his sharp black nails gently grazed your skin as he covered your wounds with his palms and emitted a generous amount of curse energy to no avail.
"How?! This is impossible! I'm the strongest sorcerer in this goddamn world! Why can't my reverse technique heal you?! What have you done brat?"
"You tainted me, I'm meant for hell now brat." You painfully laughed at your own insult to him, soon morphing to a spluttering cough much to his chagrin.
"I haven't even— you're fucking with me! You don't get the choice to leave me, that decision is mine! Letting those bastards kill you, pathetic. If you die then this shrine will become malevolent, your worst nightmare."
"Tainted... the...?" One of the dying sorcerers muttered when overlooking the unbelievable scene, one of their loyal messengers suddenly scampering in with an immediate dreaded regret washing over him once skidding to a halt in the bloodbath. Sukuna only grinned at his paralysing fear, the poor man unable to utter a word let alone run away. This was an opportunity for chaos, to scar the Jujutsu world like he'd just been scarred.
"Oh you didn't know? I ruined your beloved priestess, claimed her body, pierced her heart, and now I'll take her soul. Tell that to the Gojo, Zenin and Kamo Clans' when they come - tell them I'm the reason they failed to arrange a marriage, and I’m the reason they failed to birth the strongest heir in the world."
He manically laughed, gathering your body and bloodied robes into his arms with little but a breath from you once elaborating.
“It’ll create sheer chaos before I kill them!”
The listeners were stunned to silence, one of them snapping through their debilitating distress and fatal injuries with an attempt to scold the King of Curses.
"How dare you touch the priestess—"
"My priestess." A vibrant flash of desire lit his eyes when locking onto the sorcerer - his next three words delivered with devastating impact.
The sorcerer paled, looking to your dying frame residing in the Kings’ tattooed arms - a gentle hold beseeching of the demonic character protectively guarding you.
Maybe Sukuna had rubbed off on you a little - he'd tainted you in that respect, and tainted your heart in a way that you'd liked him more than any of your suitors. It didn't matter now though, you had more pressing worries to solve.
"Don't... let them... curse me..." It was breathy, broken, but it was your voice - and no matter how quiet, Sukuna would always hear it.
That was their plan, Sukuna had suspected that if they couldn't have you then harnessing your cursed spirit to aid them after death was the next best thing. Hence the lack of jujutsu being used as the fatal strike and why his reverse technique wouldn’t heal you.
With a devilish grin, malicious and teeth-bearing, a palm moved up your body and situated itself over your heart which beat so beautifully under his touch - you only nodded, clasping his wrist as preparation.
"Cleave."
A tearing sound followed by the outcries of the sorcerers.
"NOOOO!!!"
The cursed technique slashed your heart, ensuring you would not become a cursed spirit after death, and yet Sukuna hated the fact he still hadn't removed himself from you.
Everyone felt your spirit leave, felt your curse energy dissipate, felt the unyielding rage flare Sukunas' cursed energy to heights never imagined. It daunted all 7 seven sorcerers and the messenger in its immensity, almost making him appear monstrous in appearance with four tattooed arms and four blazing scarlet eyes, alongside added distortions to his face as he screamed profanity when collecting your signature scarf before your burning corpse.
“Killing her… only made him… stronger…”
The furious flames further erupted from him when he grasped your Yari in one of his four hands, as the heat incinerated the murderers lives, leaving only the messenger to stare on in awe-stricken horror.
"Tell them I'm coming! Coming to kill them all!"
Tumblr media
———
Now, over a thousand years later, he sat on a throne once more, his domain as powerful as ever with a prominent red shrine gate marking its territory and the abundance of blood remaining a cruel joke to him. Your malevolent shrine. He doubted you'd appreciate the subconscious tribute - he himself didn't, he'd rather forget the gate he'd always pass through now you weren’t on the other side. It was completely lost on Yūji too so he couldn't even taunt him with dark remarks - though, Itadori would never deserve to be in your blessed presence anyway.
Unfortunately the brat was prone to entering Sukunas' domain, this time through death that the curse had manipulated by ripping out his heart during a battle with Megumi. Yūji was easy to subdue in this realm, Sukuna had only used his Yari for arrogance or to hold him at bay whilst he yawned from boredom.
"Where'd you get that scarf anyways? You die with it on?" The kid also asked dumb questions out of the blue on the off chance he'd learn something or other about Jujutsu. An irritating habit that Sukuna would occasionally find amusement in - not this time though, he’d hit a rather significant subject.
"I was sealed."
"Whatever, but it looks like an old priest robe. I saw paintings in my history books, weird a curse like you would wear one." Despite the infamous curses’ avoidance, the boy stupidly pressed on, leaving him with an answer he’d never understand but one laced with a deep ulterior pull he’d rather not question.
"It's poetic irony." Sukuna paused as a claw glided across the scared material, your scarf, that somehow was still tainted with a faint scent of your blood. "No... a priestess might call it twisted sadism."

Fushiguro Tōji: Family?
Fandom: Jujutsu Kaisen —
Summary: ~0.9k, bit of angst, fluff?
• You’ve met many in your shady line of work, but little did you know you’d encounter a white wolf and it’s master who resurface a life long forgotten.
Warnings: mature language, potential spoilers
A/N: little inconsistent as Tōji was born without cursed energy but for this fic he had it for a bit before losing it via Heavenly Restricted Body (sorry).
>>>>——————————>
Tumblr media
Megumi was dumbfounded, as well as locked in some form of distorted panic - that’s what happens when something you trust with all your heart does the unexpected.
Never did he expect to come face to face with a contracted assassin, and when he summoned his prized divine dogs, he never expected one of them to assault said assassin - with affection.
“You— I miss you too, aww you’re gorgeous! Yes you are!” You voice was strained, cracking almost, arguably the most emotional it had been in a dangerously long time.
Megumi stood at a loss, desperately trying to decipher this apparent connection you had to his Shikigami. He’d never laid eyes upon you in his life, only heard of your phantom reputation.
Yet here you kneel, talking to the snowy divine dog like you’re old friends as it completely ignored his silent commands.
“Wha— how is this possible?”
“I knew his previous master…”
———
A white puppy as pure as snow, one gifted with cursed energy of the shadows and the one that currently snuggled into your partners’ muscular chest.
“Oh? We have a new member of our dysfunctional family?”
“Probably my favourite family.” It was uttered bitterly under his breath, and with your smug smirk Tōji was quick to adhere to his cold persona. “You know you’re nothing more than a use to me.”
You hummed in acknowledgment since he’d been avoiding the Zenins’, yet he approached you regardless to place the ‘mutt’ into your arms and took the time to linger on the brief gentle skinship with you.
“So… it’s your jujutsu?”
“While it lasts. Heavenly Restriction will leave me with no cursed energy whatsoever. Once the mutt has gone then I’m free.” Tōji had spoken carelessly, like the creature was nothing except an indicator despite how you were currently fussing over it.
“I see…”
Tōji admired the scene discreetly, in your line of work it was rare to see you so defenceless with a beautiful smile that could charm anyone - unfortunately that included him. The rebellious Zenin would forever refute harbouring romantic feelings toward you though, it was impractical and he could have anyone he wanted anyway.
Just a fucking pity none satisfied his craving for you.
Shaking his head with a low groan, he nodded over to you with a roll of his eyes. Tōjis’ next dismissive remark was solely because he was annoyed, not because the dog seemed to make you happy or anything.
“If you’re that smitten with it, then you can look after it.”
Obviously you did, bonding with the Shikigami over the following few days like it was your actual pet and amusingly it trailed you everywhere, offering every ounce of affection it could before it would disperse.
You’d joked that the wolf was a true reflection of Tōjis’ feelings toward you, that he secretly wished he could love you as much as the puppy openly showed.
Immediately he’d initiated a sparring match in brutal retaliation to your remarks, your unadulterated laughter making your movements sloppier than usual compared to his precise ones imbued with irritation.
It was no surprise when he pinned you, hands nailed above your head and sculpted waist hovering prettily between your thighs. He felt every muscle stiffen in your body as you laughed harder, feeling them suddenly tighten when he’d lowered his lips to your ear - hot breath fanning against the skin and tone so huskily low that it reverberated down your spine.
“I’ll show you raw fucking love if you let me sweetheart~”
“How do you intend to do that?”
“Marry me.”
“…we both know that’s not a good idea in our profession Tōji, especially with you being a Zenin.”
———
Megumi snapped to you quizzically - unaware of such an impossibility until realisation dawned upon him like a crashing wave.
“You knew my father?”
“Yeah when we were young, he was an asshole but we were partners.” Your casualness contrasted the teens’ scepticism, parroting your connection with suspicion.
“Partners?”
“Hm? Oh not like that, it was a business thing. We travelled, lived, and worked together until we parted ways. Deep down though, he was good. Maybe not to the rest of this shitty world, but I thought so.” A sentimental smile graced your features at the memories, a continuation you dare not admit on the tip of your tongue. ‘We were happy for a while, truly.’
“That’s how you know my Shikigami?” Megumi questioned, more for assurance purposes since he’d deducted as much already.
“Mhm, it was a just a puppy then until all of your fathers cursed energy disappeared.” You beamed brightly, giving one final pet to the beast prior to urging it back toward Megumi. “I digress, I’ll be taking my leave now.”
“What? I have more questions! Wait—”
“No point in killing you, I owe someone a favour.” There was no chance to argue, you’d disappeared faster than the upcoming sorcerer had even calibrated, hunting you down being a pointless escapade.
———
An unofficial memorial ground was a place you’d frequented throughout the years and the words flew naturally as you approached a particular spot. It had been a while since the encounter with Megumi, and since you’d stepped foot here too.
“Hey Tōji, I’m pissed at you by the way - not telling me our dysfunctional family had gotten bigger.” An exasperated tone accompanied your words as you slumped beside his gravestone, bemused taunt following. “Which short-lived marriage was he from huh?”
You’d heard he got married after you’d parted ways, but he always found his way back to you for a time before shooting off again when you’d decided to take different jobs. As per usual it was eerily silent, making you miss his sarcastic banter that haunted you daily.
“That son of yours turned out better than either of us - I think you’d secretly be proud. I could see you in him actually…”
“And you can’t see me now? Did you go blind in your old age?” Immediately you glided to your feet on the defensive, swearing your sight was betraying you considering the dead man who stood (very much alive) nonchalantly spinning his sword with that signature effortless confidence.
Naturally a battle occurred, obliterating the ambiance of the area with Tōji disarming you soon enough. Looking up to him with ragged breath and a frustrated growl, you spoke clearly with a vague gesture.
“What? Back from the grave and no new family member this time?”
The man smiled, truly and genuinely, offering a calloused palm down to your form.
“Still my favourite...” A chaotic laugh, smirk teasing with the damned scar as he pulled you up into his hard chest. “I’ve got a lot to tell you, but first.”
“Did you miss me, sweetheart~?”

Sakusa Kiyoomi: Demons
Fandom: Haikyuu!! — [ Masterlist ]
Summary: ~3k, fluff
• Sakusa isn’t the most expressive, but there’s always little things he does to show he has feelings for you - just as you do for him.
Warnings: none
>>>>——————————>
Tumblr media
Sakusa was a realist, you'd known that for a long time, and you'd affirmed that with every question he asked you. This was a man who thinks with his head and not his heart, who is lead by logic rather than emotion.
It baffled you then why he seemed so confused by the knocking at his front door - he was always prepared, if there was a visitor he'd surely expect them. Regardless, to save him the trouble you went and answered the door considering your people skills were more adaptable.
"Omi-Omi yer gotta— eh, did we get the wrong place?" The familiar blonde halted his rant when actually taking in your appearance, turning to his owlish partner in crime who looked just as dumbfounded.
"Don't think so... but I'll call Meian or Sakusa."
"No no, you've got the right place. MSBY Teammates right?" It was more of a fact than a question, having already recognised them, and so you continued. "Besides, Kiyoomi probably wouldn't answer a call from you anyway."
The blonde issued a pleased smirk at that, leaning on the doorframe with a smug tone.
"Was gonna ask if ya knew him, but with that answer I'd say ya know Omi-Omi really well."
"I told you, stop calling me that Atsumu. What do you want?" Sakusa now stood intimidatingly by your side, twin daggers sent toward his Setter that forced him to sheepishly step back. Yet, disregarding his Spikers remark, he remained brightly charismatic unlike the deadpan Sakusa.
"Yer just moved in to yer new place! Livin' alone can be daunting so we're here to help - unless yer not alone?"
"Leave."
"We haven't even come in yet! So can we?" Bokuto piped in this time, excitement racing through his veins oblivious to Sakusas' attitude as usual.
"You wanna die?"
"Kiyoomi, they came to help like I did. You let me in, and the quicker we're done the quicker they go."
"You're different." It was muttered within a heavy sigh, the ravenette reluctantly conceding  once glancing at your hopeful smile. "But valid point."
So became a sociable day of assisting Sakusa in unpacking, his teammates sharing horror tales of when they'd first moved out - both of them somehow starving? Kiyoomi rolled his eyes after questioning their maturity which prompted Atsumu to seek your alliance.
"Tch. Don'cha get annoyed by his teasing?"
"I tease him too, Sakusa rarely messes up due to his preparedness but when he does I love highlighting it." You proudly admitted, Sakusa sighing by your side and flicking a styrofoam piece at you.
"I know. It's annoying."
"Nice ta see ya get teased too, alright I'm gunna order from Onigiri Miya so we don't starve this time. Lemme know whatcha want~"
"You to go home."
"Aw, but we're not finished yet - we know how you hate leaving things in a mess Kiyoomi." Bokuto grinned brightly, thumbs up sent to the ravenette as he followed Atsumu out to the kitchen.
It was quiet for a bit when you'd continued your task, bemused by how well his teammates knew him with Sakusa opening a new box and pausing slightly at item it contained.
"Could you put this up there?"
It was a multi-frame he was unboxing, presumably the photos going in were already predetermined so you weren't surprised when he'd handed you the near completed photo frame. You'd took a detailed look at it, having filtered through some of his pictures previously, you understood he'd chosen fond memories. There was one of his family, one of him and Komori, multiple Volleyball ones, an older one picturing him and Ushijima as well as one of the MSBY Black Jackals. Except it wasn't the professional Team shot, it was a selfie where they'd all clambered together with varying playful faces after a victory.
"You chose the one where you're all goofing off and smiling."
"It matches the theme more. The professional one has its own separate frame." He'd answered casually, moving to sit beside you whilst his teammates cluttered in the kitchen - he'd scold them later.
"What theme?"
"My personal life, these are ones that make me feel at home. They're important, things I care about - just please refrain from telling Atsumu and Kōtarō that." Careful fingers held the other side of the frame, eyes briefly flicking to the re-emerging pair now carrying beverages grateful they hadn't heard. "Speaking of, I need one of us."
"Us? You have plenty on your phone." Came your blissful smile when locking eyes with him, Bokuto and Miya checking out the object of attention, one frame indeed blank. Sakusa talking to himself more than anyone else.
"They're not right."
"Never thought you'd have something like this! I need one to put a Fukurōdani photo in, oh - and one of me and Akaashi!"
The three of you agreed fondly with Kōtarō, resuming your task of unpacking the last of Sakusas' belongings which turned into quite a nice night.
———
As far as you'd heard, your favourite Spiker was settling into living alone just fine - a lot better than the dramatics you'd heard from Kōtarō and Atsumu when they'd first moved out alone.
Or so you thought...
"Can I stay with you?"
It was scarily abrupt, spoken the moment you'd opened the door, not even a chance for greetings nor to think as you'd instinctively answered.
"Yeah of course, uh for how long?"
"Forever." Sakusa had claimed as he gratefully entered your home, expression still somewhat unreadable with the presence of his mask.
"Omi what on Earth is wrong with your place?"
He froze on the spot, turning to you with arms wrapped around himself and a disgusted expression accompanying his deadly tone.
"It's been infiltrated by a demon."
"Kiyoomi—"
"It moved so fast, I didn't even see what it was. I didn't want to. So I refuse to go back there." He'd shuddered as he recounted the recent memory, like he relived a traumatic event.
"Oh? Ultimate Ace Sakusa Kiyoomi is defeated by an unwanted house guest. Isn't this what Atsumu meant when he said you could ask them for help?"
"I'm not doing that." Stubbornly bitter. He hadn't appreciated your sarcasm and muttered his refute with a glare.
"Then we're going." You'd happily retorted, reaching for your jacket.
"What?"
"We're going to slay a demon Omi~"
"N-no we're not! I won't let you." The speed of volleyball apparently aided in everyday life as Kiyoomi slid into your path with adamant argument.
"Then I'm calling Atsumu."
"Why do you have his number? — Nevermind, tell me later. I'm trying to protect you, you don't need to venture into that hell site."
"Kiyoomi, I want to. You've helped me out numerous times, and vice versa. We balance each other out, so hand me some armour and let's go."
Begrudgingly he'd truly looked at you, if it wasn't for the overpowering war occurring in his body then he’d claim you were a blessing - how could he possibly argue with you looking as beautiful as that, regardless of how he’d wanted to protect you.
When you got there fully decked out with protection, pesticide and traps, you're already assessing the situation with Sakusa begrudgingly waiting outside his front door. You'd told him he could remain as far as he wished (oh how he wanted to) but he insisted that for your sake he'd stay as close as he could manage.
Ultimately you were in and out in no less than 10 minutes once discovering that it was a rather large flying cockroach making residence in his home and disposing of it correctly.
"It's done."
"Thank you..." No sooner was hand sanitiser thrust onto your hands with Sakusa then bowing out of gratitude despite the layer of uncertainty that had laced his tone.
"You can stay with me tonight if it eases whatever..." You gave a hopeless grin, gesturing to his permanently distasteful glare flicking from your form to his home. "This is."
"I'll prepare dinner and breakfast then, we should go shopping on the way home so I can buy ingredients." Sakusa breathed a sigh of relief and fell into step beside you, already loaded with his next question. "Anyway, why do you have Atumus' number?"
———
Being friends with Sakusa Kiyoomi inevitably meant you'd become acquainted with Komori Motoya who was currently your plus one to the MSBY Black Jackal vs Azuma Pharmacy Green Rockets game.
“Wow he’s definitely on his game today huh?” You leaned against the railing in awe, by the second set you couldn’t take your eyes off of him which Komori noticed with a soft smile, tucking his hands into his pockets before thoughtfully replying.
"Mm, Sakusa puts 100% effort into everything he does."
"I know, it’s paid off."
Motoya looked to you again, this time curiosity knitting his brows as he gently nudged you to draw your attention.
"Haven't you noticed he's putting in a lot of effort with you recently?"
"Say what now?"
"I was with Kiyoomi when he brought your favourite fragrance you were running out of." Your sheer innocent perplexity left him grinning wider, amusement dancing on his features whilst recalling the memory. "He spent 20 minutes in the aisle smelling a bunch of things to find the one that smelt exactly like you."
"Why didn't he just ask what type it was?" It made you smirk in confusion, still bemused either way.
"Wanted to surprise you, even removed his mask to do it - it was kind of amusing to see his reaction."
"Bet he hated that, I can imagine the disgust." You we’re both laughing now, but you felt a warmth in your chest with Motoya finishing the story, it was a side of Sakusa you rarely got to see after all.
"Yeah you're right, but I knew when he found it by his soft smile. Plus the mask was instantly back up."
It also meant you'd become acquainted with the MSBY Black Jackals which Sakusa would have rather avoided, but as soon your name had left his lips even he couldn't withstand their unbreakable persistence.
Hence why Bokuto had immediately jogged up to you when you’d come to meet them after the game considering how many times you’d met previously. It meant you’d missed the searing glare of Sakusa burning holes into Bokutos’ back because he’d greeted you first - wrapping you in his arms no less?! Luckily Komori was there to distract his cousin.
"You watched the whole game right? Did you see my killer cross shot?!" Kōtarō remained oblivious, lost in eager conversation with you since you responded so enthusiastically to him.
"Yeah! You were amazing as always Bokkun, you all were. Kiyoomi seemed really hyped today too."
"Yup, Akaashi used to tell me there was someone admiring me in the crowd to get me hyped up. I didn't think it'd work on Kiyoomi." The former Ace shrugged, finger to his chin in deep thought - even you were sceptical of his comment.
"Oh, he's influenced by fans?"
"Dunno, I just told him you were watching today. That seemed to do the trick." Bokuto nonchalantly claimed, giving you a too hearty clap on the back that almost sent you flying forward - Sakusa appearing out of nowhere to steady you just in case.
"Are you ready?" With a smile of gratitude, Kiyoomi gently bumped your shoulder as he spoke.
"Mhm."
"Wha— wait, what's happening? Aren't you celebrating our win?" Bokuto caught onto this exchange, loud voice ricocheting over to the rest of the team and sparking their interest.
"The tournament has a just started, it's too early to celebrate." Sakusa exasperatedly sighed, hands fidgeting deep in his pockets and avoiding all gazes, meanwhile you kindly answered the question he’d strategically avoided (motivations unbeknownst to you).
"We're having dinner and watching a movie at his place."
"Movie night at Omi-kuns’? Count me in!" Kōtarō beamed, Kiyoomi flicking to him in irritation.
"Yeah same! When we goin'?" Atsumu chimed in, jogging over with a few other members in tow.
"You're not."
Completely misinterpreting Sakusas’ brutal refute, Hinata brightly responded like a ray of sunshine.
"Oh oh, we should pick up some extra food on the way so there's enough for all of us."
"Great plan apprentice! Thanks for the reminder Omi-Omi, we'll meet you at your home soon." Bokuto followed on, Sakusa sighing once more and tried to derail this apparently unstoppable train of thought that was picking up more MSBY passengers by the second.
"That's not what I—"
Too late, they’d bounded off in excitement and whisked you away with them, exchanging ideas of what to purchase and the fastest route to Omi-Omis’ from the store - leaving Sakusa and Motoya still in the deserted hallway.
"It was meant to be just you two wasn't it?"
The ravenette didn't answer his cousin, choosing to bury himself deeper in his MSBY track jacket with a huff of disapproval (his blush not going unnoticed by a knowing Komori).
———
It was after their semifinal game that you'd headed to the locker room, their next opponent in the finals being the Schweiden Adlers. You knew Ushjima played for that team, someone Kiyoomi knew and admired, so when you'd met him outside wearing a warring expression the second he locked eyes with you - that's what you assumed to be the problem.
"You seem stressed, worried about the upcoming Finals?"
"No, we've done everything we can to prepare and put in 110% effort. The rest is out of our control." It was confident and steadfast, clearly not the issue then which stumped you slightly considering you knew something was wrong.
It was eerily silent for a moment, an awkwardness lingered like fragile scales ready to tip at the lightest touch.
"...Then what?"
There was a glare first, one that bore through your very soul, but also one that seemed as though he was questioning himself too.
"You."
"Me?"
"Yes."
Silence brewed again, this time with you searching his eyes for some sort of unspoken answer, for something you’d apparently missed in all the instances you’ve got lost in looking at him.
"Do you- do you want me to leave you alone then?" You'd internally cursed yourself for the crack in your voice, stilted by the possible meaning toward you.
"Yes— no. That! It's that!” The Spiker shook his head and ran his fingertips through his hair so tentatively. “You make me do this all the time. How do you do that?!"
"What?"
Sakusa breathed, more for himself than you, and then his voice filled with an unfathomable amount of consideration and sentiment it caught you unawares.
"I'm not oblivious, I'm aware that I have feelings for you. That's why I want you in my life; why I don't want you to leave even though I'm perfectly capable of being alone."
"Kiyoomi… I understand y’know." Despite your soft whisper linked to your own feelings, he became far more passionate as he argued with you.
"Do you? I never really believed in luck yet I constantly find myself thinking how 'lucky' I am to have you. I dislike large crowds and being around others but being around you is fine, and when you're there I guess crowds become a bit more tolerable. You take everything I know and flip it upside down - I hate that I can't prepare for that but if I get to be with you it doesn't bother me... as much."
His breathing was uneven now after spilling more than he ever even considered, more than he knew he was capable of feeling, let alone putting into words - then again, that’s the kind of effect you’d had on him lately.
"Kiyoomi, is this your way of confessing to me?"
"It wasn't meant to be, I had it all planned out but there never seemed to be a perfect time for it. Hence this scenario." The two of you were more composed now, like things had fallen back into place with a sense of untouchability after what had just been said.
"Are you kidding? This is the perfect time. Any time would be. I only care that you've told me and you're comfortable having done so, because quite honestly I've been trying to figure out the best way to tell you that I'm falling for you too."
"You are?" Sakusa seemed bewildered, wistful tone betraying him in that moment which only made you giggle slightly.
"I don't go slaying demons for just anybody Kiyoomi."
The aftermath of the semifinals wasn't his ideal scenario, he'd much prefer the blessing of privacy - but with emotions already running high and a more vibrant feeling burning in his chest, he acted on instinct.
The first was brief, a flicker of fleeting soft warmth like he'd accidentally burnt you, but the second you'd smiled and connected again - he was meticulously passionate in the way his lips met yours, a fiery slow burn that left heat dancing up your skin.
Sakusa ignored the proud cheers of his teammates, their erratic whistles and playful teasing when he pulled back to admire you in this moment. Everything was so wrong compared to his usual standards but he'd be lying if it didn't feel so right.
Sakusa is a man who thinks with his head and not his heart, because his heart belongs to you. Kiyoomi leads with logic whilst you understand emotion - so by his logic, the two of you together are the perfect balance. Something he had never felt the need to ever question.
———
BONUS:
It was on the way home you caught Sakusa blushing whilst checking his recent messages, and upon noting your curiosity the Spiker tilted it toward you.
An impressively high quality image of the two of you smiling at each other so admiringly moments after sharing your first embrace.
[ Atsumu: For that empty frame 'a yers. 😝 ]

Kyōtani Kentarō: All Bark No Bite
Fandom: Haikyuu!! — [ Masterlist ]
Summary: ~1.4k. fluff
• Mad Dog is known for being scary, but the tables turn when a date gets turned into babysitting.
Warnings: None
>>>>——————————>
Tumblr media
"I can't go out with you."
Kyōtani was going to kill you for this.
Okay, he wasn't.
If anything, this was hurting him far more considering you'd known how much courage it'd taken for him to establish a friendship with you - let alone anything else.
Oikawa was painfully clear that 'Mad Dog-Chan' was a savage barbed wire wall, and that you shouldn't take any interaction for granted (especially when you received consideration rather than rough barks like Seijoh did).
So here he was standing outside your door, bomber jacket overlaying a crisp white t-shirt with a flash of disappointment quickly morphing back to his signature scowl.
"Is that your boyfriend?"
The two of you immediately locked surprised gazes, flicking down to the innocent tone of the child peering past your hip.
"Ah, this is Kyōtani, we were supposed to go out tonight Sakura..."
The small brunette hummed in understanding, prior to stepping past you and extending her little digits to pull his own from his pockets.
"I needed a babysitter last minute but I don't want to ruin your date. You should stay too Kyōtani-san!"
Instantly his widened eyes were seeking yours for approval, so you nodded with a smile - somewhat intrigued as to whether he'd agree considering his daunting nature and rebellious attitude. That wouldn't coincide with a delicate child, would it?
"Fine." It was forcibly choked out, Sakura having retrieved his calloused hand, tugged him toward the doorway and past your bewildered form. You thought he'd refuse...
It started with awkward introductions and explanations, Mad Dog sat stiffly, offering short and curt answers to satisfy the innocent curiosity of the 9 year old all whilst dodging any enlightenment regarding your relationship with him. How you knew each other from school and how you were friends with the volleyball club, and thus him included - except, you two were closer than the rest. It seemed informative enough judging by Sakuras' continuation to quiz him on an all manner of things.
Once acquainted you decided to prepare drinks, finding mild entertainment in the pleading look your friend sent you as you disappeared into the kitchen - the returning scene far more entertaining.
"Nice tiara Kentarō."
A darkened gaze settled on your figure, you'd expected embarrassment based on his sharp edge but instead Kyōtani sat up straighter, pink gems fracturing the light of the room, and nodded in proud approval.
"...thanks."
Sakura giggled from her spot in front him, allowing him to continue his task with his tongue peeking out from his lips due to concentration whilst you placed the tray on the table.
"What are you doing?" You'd only been gone mere minutes, but it was plenty of time for the enthusiastic child to drag him into whatever world she'd carefully crafted.
"I asked Kyōtani to plait my hair!" With that gleeful statement, you raised your brow at the now flustered Spiker who refused to meet your gaze. Flushing further when you perched next to him to overlook his work as he tied it off.
"It's a perfect french braid."
"Really?! I want to see!" Instantly she'd ran off to the nearest mirror, leaving yourself and Kyōken alone for a while.
"Where'd you learn that?" Your tone was softer, almost admiring of his skill and was one he'd heard whenever you'd ask him about Volleyball. He was inclined to answer then, a brief smirk of remembrance tainting his lips and once removing the tiara, he rested his forearms on his legs and fiddled with the headpiece.
"I tried it on my dog when I was younger, but my mother insisted I learn with her hair instead."
"I bet your dog had fun, and it came in useful since you've made Sakuras' day." There was an amused scoff from him, yourself turning to sarcastically comment but were silenced when you felt a weight atop your head. "What're you doing—"
"You look better with it anyway, you're more like royalty than me."
"Mm, you certainly treat me like it Kentarō. I hope I repay the favour to you too." Your intimate words had left him speechless, flushing so deeply you could see the scarlet tint dusting the tips of his ears.
"I— yeah, you— always."
It was beautifully still, a cartoon softly playing in the background as you stared a second longer at each other with small soft smiles gracing your faces, within the next his gaze flickered to your lips and back up with a soft pink dusting his features now. In honesty, you wanted to kiss him too, hence how you'd tilted your head as a hint, then he'd began to lean in—
"Kyōtani-san! (Y/n)-chan! Shall we play a game?" She'd happily yelled before she'd skipped into the room, yourself immediately falling into Kentarōs chest - more solid than you'd originally thought.
The blonde stifled a laugh, grasping your jaw with his digits to pull you back up to meet his admiring gaze.
"Dumbass."
Regardless, you’d set up her Nintendo Wii and began a heated marathon of games - yourself and Mad Dog growing competitive, playfully nudging and blocking each other’s view when vying for the victory. Sakura suffered the same from the two of you, infuriated screams and giggles escaping her when you’d covered her eyes. Though you pretended to ignore the instance Kyōtani let her win, feigning disappointment as she’d proclaimed her victory.
Then Sakura rushed off to the toilet, leaving you and the Spiker to play a 1 vs 1, competitiveness getting the best of you when you’d tickled his side - finding yourself now pinned with the catchy defeat tune filling the room.
“That’s cheating, there’s consequences for that y’know.”
“What are you gonna do about it Mad Dog-Chan?”
That elicited a growl from his throat, the delicacy of the thumb ghosting over your lower lip completely contrasting it.
“Ready to lose again?” Sakura burst in, perplexed by the scene before her. “You two take Street Fighter quite literally don’t you? Whatever I still won, how about this game next?”
With a huff he’d sat up, Sakura pushing remotes over to the both of you.
———
"Thank you for tonight Kentarō, I'm sorry it's not what we expected." You’d gratefully admitted as you walked him out, coming to a standstill in the crisp night air.
"A date involves spending time with someone right? So this... was ideal."
"You think so?" The challenge posed in your tone forced him to cover his sentiment with his more aggressive attitude.
"Tch I stayed with you didn't I?"
"Yeah but is that because you liked my company or because you wanted the tiara?"
"Tiara obviously, I look good in it. Just ask Sakura." A nod of acknowledgment was sent to the young girl now joining your side - almost missing the sheepish confession of yours.
"You look good without it too..."
"I— I do?" Shaking himself from his initial flustering, he was quick to shove his hands in his pockets and look away with an irritated expression. "Uh whatever, dumbass."
His characteristic frown remained present as he’d return to look at you, then down to the smiling girl by your side.
Kyōtani breathed a heavy sigh having reconsidered, the blonde briskly clasping your hand to bring your knuckles to his lips. The kiss far more slow and gentle compared to his usual movements.
“Oh hell no. Sakura sorry but—“ Swift as a ninja you’d manoeuvred her inside, door closed before she could even turn around in protest - yourself situated in a position that prevented her from opening it despite the futile attempts.
“The f— mphf~” Kyōtani was curious, but instinctively surrendered when you’d pulled him toward you, palm flat against the wall beside you to steady himself. That’s when you kissed him, properly. Tentatively. As if asking if you had been misreading the signs all night. Judging by the cunning smirk against your skin and his willingness to continue though, you hadn’t.
“You’re not funny! Let me say goodbye to Kyōtani-san!” The incessant knocking behind your body stifled you, pulling away from Kentarō with a breathless laugh.
“Alright alright, I’ve already said mine.”
Releasing your hold on the door, Sakura stumbled out with a frustrated pout, eyeing the suspicious amount of space between the two of you and carried out her intention.
The two of you walking back inside after seeing the Spiker off, Sakura all too glad about goodness knows what.
“So he is your boyfriend.” She paused. “Knew it.”
