For any followers out there, please help a friend out if you can!
So I'm not the one to ask for help so I've been very hesitant on sharing, but got some news last week that I will be homeless by June (and no, this is not an awful april fools joke, I am panicking here).
Some of you in the vulture culture community know last week and a bit ago I had an accident resulting in losing consciousness, breaking my neck, and experiencing a seizure for the first time. I've been having ongoing brain issues (we removed a lot of cerebral fluid in December that was causing increased pressure and testing the fluid to rule out infection, diagnosed with IIH), and last month I've been having heart issues.
Referrals have been made to a cardiology specialist, as well as the first fit clinic. But it's looking like I will probably have to go private to get listened to / get the care I need ASAP. Couple with the fact I will be homeless by June, it's a really terrifying situation. I have contacted local councils, independent living schemes, shelter, private landlords etc and feel like I've been let down. I'm awaiting a doctors appointment with a NHS advisor on the 10th, where I'll be showing them my list of resources I've used, and to see if they are able to help find anything.
I reluctantly made a justgiving page, on the advice of my friends, and while I hate asking for help, I am honestly quite scared and uncertain about my future.
If anyone can share the link, reblog this post, or even donate some change. It would mean a lot.
Thank you for your time, I'm sorry for posting this here but I don't know what else to do. I will be continuing to work on the skull index, as its such big passion project of mine along with the help of my team. Its a great distraction.

the fact that i will never get to talk to or hang out with a neanderthal genuinely brings me to tears
we evolved alongside them and they were our brothers and now they're GONE and i will never be able to talk to them and know how they thought and what they did and their traditions and cultures
wailing screaming sobbing I MISS THEM !!!!!! NEANDERTHALS COME BACK !!!!!!

As an archaeologist I share these same feelings, it’s an amazing thing to see
currently crying over ancient humans and how the drive to create art and tell stories is literally ingrained into our DNA. how our species loves so deeply and mourns our dead so tenderly that we laid them to rest in beds of wildflowers, curled up like they were going to sleep for the final time. How children, when walking in mud and sand would tamp down their footprints and look at the marks they left. That in caves, small hands are on the ceiling because a loved one lifted the child up to decorate their home like we lift little kids up to decorate a Christmas tree or their bedroom walls. the fact that art was one of the first things to be created for our own enjoyment fills me with a feeling I don’t know how to describe. If I wasn’t going into illustration, I’d be an archeologist because I can think of nothing more amazing than uncovering the threads that weave the timeline of humanity together. I will never know these ancient humans and it makes my heart ache. The fact that we, hundreds of thousands of years in the future, are able to look back and see ourselves in those who never could have imagined what today is like is the coolest feeling ever.

Plenty of that found in Jih’s Journey! Hard to forget the human in archaic hominids :)
My god, documentary makers and reconstruction artists, PLEASE let your archaic hominids do self care. Pls let them brush their hair. Pls let them bathe.

In 1965, excavations in Mezhyrich, Ukraine, revealed the presence of 4 huts, made up of a total of 149 mammoth bones. These dwellings, which are about 15,000 years old, are some of the oldest shelters known to have been constructed by pre-historic man.

Jih. Sadal. Narro. Trekkal. Four names that would be impacted forever after one fateful event, 120,000 years ago. Set in a long forgotten time, Jih's Journey brings to light a cross-continental epic across an expansive and rich world in prehistory. One fated night, there is a meteor shower that occurs over a series of days and fills the sky with light, capturing the awe of all who see it. One massive meteor lands in the North Pole and a man named Jih vows to go and see what power it truly holds! Jih sees the problems of his community and hopes that the meteor's gift can bring much needed balance to the land or die trying. Along the way, he finds the world has changed much from what he's expected. Experience prehistoric perils, found family, and a fresh take on peoples of the past!

I love human prehistory so much. All the way to the late Neolithic. I love it. I love our scavenger era. I love our “running megafauna to death” era. I love prehistoric art. I love prehistoric burial customs. I love our ancestors using their big brains to innovate and adapt and survive despite ice ages and conflicts and disasters and extinctions. I love that we began creating art. I love that archaic humans were doing the same things as our ancestors too. We’re such a cool species. We’re so fascinating and adaptive and badass. Even if there isn’t a written record of the names, feelings, failures, heartaches and triumphs of those people, it makes me feel so warm to know they had names, feelings, failures, heartaches and triumphs just like us. They felt love. They had families. They had duties.

bonus little pocket bat friend. Her species is ‘lesser false vampire bat’. It’s a long name… These bats have funny leaf shaped noses.
