Personal Destination

I have put this off for far too long. I love to write. It’s what I want to do with my life, yet I find myself constantly figuring out what the hell Rolle’s Theorem really means or memorizing the many ways to find the equilibrium constant of some acid or whatever. I am a college student at the University of Texas at Austin, and I am a science major. Being a science major at UT means way more math, chemistry, and physics. I signed up for geology, and unknowingly signed up for some of the hardest, weed out classes there are at UT. Don’t get me wrong. I absolutely can deal with a challenge, but I had no idea that I would be spending ALL my time and focus on classes that I have no interest in. I feel like I am more knowledgable about chemistry, then any geology class I have taken so far.

Growing up I read and began to collects novels for my personal library, I enjoyed painting and sketching, I loved music and learned how to play the piano and violin, and I scrapbooked in my spare time. One thing that I was particularly serious about for a while was writing. I would write so many different stories. There was this time in high school where I was given a creative writing assignment that had a requirement of a minimum of 5 pages. I ended up whooping out 30 pages in two days. I happily had the short story bound at Office Max and I just remember feeling true accomplishment and pride.

I feel as if this is evidence enough that I use and enjoy the ‘right side of my brain’. And I am at point where I cannot stand to look at another equation. I do not want to grow up and find myself ‘following the book’. I need to graduate and have an amazing GPA and it has to be a science major so I can get a ton of money, so I can do all the great and adventurous things that I want to do. Oh, but the catch is I have to wait until I am sixty to indulge myself in adventure. But, who knows I might be tired by then, and just would rather stay at home with my 15 cats. The point is, I don’t want to wait anymore. I want to put myself out in the world. I want to reach my personal destination.

So I will begin here.
