As a guy who spent like 3-4 straight years writing shipfic, I think reading into it as romantic isn’t a stretch but also isn’t the only option here. Muelsyse needs friends, and the Doctor has clearly shown themselves to want to be friends with her - their interaction could definitely just be two people who’ve gotten comfortable with each other as friends.

Now, just because romance isn’t the *only* option doesn’t mean it wouldn’t make sense here, and honestly? It’d be pretty cool if they did actually go that route and give the Doctor a canon romantic attachment as another example of how they’re their own character, not just a self-insert vehicle. Given the parallels between the two and what we’ve seen even just EN side, Muelsyse is just about the best match for the Doctor as anyone in the cast rn, so I’m down.

In games like this, it’s bias that speaks louder than fact IMO, especially when people are shipping — using Mumu as an example, while we are at it, I know people that ship Mumu and Ho’ol because of that one “I see her sleeping sometimes” bit — so, you definitely can just see this as friendship, but at the same time, no other character gets explicitly shown to interact in this manner with Doc or with other characters im general. There’s the implication here and the suggestion there, but this is pretty damn explicit, lmao, there’s Platinum’s tickets and then there’s “her Module is just straight up her daily day hanging out with-slash-flirting with Doc”.

I can see why it’d not sit well with anyone, it’s treatment not many characters get with anyone else*. About the only other example that gets anywhere close in terms of Actual Interactions And Dynamics would be Silence and Saria, and Liskarm and Franka. And even then, they play different sports. I personally don’t really feel strongly about this, but I am Mumubiased, so.

*I may perfectly not be remembering them, though.

Probably after! In Dorothy’s Vision, it’s mentioned that Dorothy practically lived and breathed her research day in and day out. Her laboratory was practically her world for the longest time, Astegnne even chastises her early on because Dorothy takes so little care of herself and subexists on coffee and willpower. She was doing nothing except work towards the Frenzied Flame.

After Silence Umineko’d her by Red Blue and Golden Truthing the shit out of her, and subsequently coming to hang out at Rhodes Island, her schedule frees up a little more, and I think that’s when she got into tabletop. I’d like to think Ifrit was like “hey we can kill dragons and shit in these games, right? You should do this gee emm thing for us, I’ll get the players” and Dororhy was like BET I can make a cool fictitious world! I almost made a REAL cool world anyways!
