They’ll make it very clear that the intimacy scares them. It’s a heartbreaking thing, because it usually means there’s been some trauma. If that happens, just stop. Stop everything and hold them. Don’t ask them to explain, unless they choose to tell you. Just hold them. Maybe the sex will come later when they’re more comfortable. Maybe it never comes at all. And that’s fine.
