I was going to make these more realistic but then I started thinking about how much I like those kids playsets of wooden fruit and veg, especially the ones with velcro so you can "slice" them.
Started an art course recently and here's the result of the first exercise. Each day we are assigned a different image to use as a reference and this time we had to recreate the image without using the colour picker. This trains your eye to judge value and colour.
Done in Clip Studio Paint using the basic marker brush.
I've been doing some reverse engineering of film screenshots by thumbnailing them to figure out the composition. It's also a fun exercise is making bad art. It's not supposed to be finished or polished or anything, just basic colours and shapes.
Everything single one of my own characters because I don't imagine them as anything concrete. I can give you a rough height, vibe, hair colour and nose shape or something.
More generally, characters with a lot of details. I get tired after a while and just want to be done. I'm trying to get better at taking time over pieces though.
7. A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate
Fibre arts like knitting, crochet, plushie making, clothing etc because I want to be good at that sort of thing but I just get confused and again, I'm impatient. I want to be good now. What do you mean I have to learn the basics??
9. What are your file name conventions
Depending on what I draw it will be either the character's name (Jez, Jez2 Jez3Finished500 Jez3FinishedSmall etc) or I use the titles of a song I was listening to while drawing. If I'm feeling fancy I might use a quote from the media a character is from if it's fanart. I also have my files arranged as Art/2023/January etc
29. Media you love, but doesn't inspire you artistically
There's a lot of media I love and enjoy seeing other people's fan art for but I'm not interested in joining in sometimes because I don't think I'll contribute anything worthwhile or because I'm not confident that anyone will care. I also love seeing fan art for book characters but I wouldn't want to join in because often a fanbase has decided that this is how a character looks and I don't agree which feels awkward. Maybe I'm wrong though and there are a lot of people who would love to see my idea of a bearded, farm-strong FitzChivalry or Earthsea fan art. Maybe I should just not care so much.
There's all sorts of popular stuff I see one tumblr that I have 0 interest in to the point that I can't think of any lol. I really like a bunch of anime but I've no interest in drawing anything like them or even drawing particularly anime styled stuff nowadays.
Kirby! I love that little buy but have no interest in drawing fanart of them. I also think they're weirdly hard to draw.
But, I think that everything inspires you artistically even if it's not directly.
Didn't see a lot of artist ask games, wanted to make a silly one.
(I wrote this while sick out of my mind last year and it's been collecting dust in my drafts, I might as well let it run free)

One of the reasons the 2017 one looks like it does is that I knew how to paint in theory but not in practice so often just stopped or always left the line art.
