i don’t like inserting myself into mcdeavor’s perspective, but i think it was an attempt from hori to show that mcdeavor thinks about rei or that he’s serious about “changing.” otherwise… he wouldn’t send it.

the point was never that mcdeavor feels nothing or only has evil emotions—abusers can have positive emotions. abusers can even “love”* their victims. the point is that DESPITE whatever guilt or “love” he feels, he grievously abused his family for 20 years and many of us think there’s no redemption from that, even if he gives them nice presents sometimes.

(*putting “love” in quotes because abusers may have intense positive emotions toward their victims, but it’s still self-centered because having their victim around makes them feel good, they don’t care about their victim feeling good unless it’s on their terms; also i don’t believe that true love-without-quotations can exist without behaving lovingly, which abusers don’t do.)

I finally got around to drawing one of my OC’s hhh.

Name: Kitori Amachi

Quirk: Cockatoo! She has the wings, temper, and basic dietary needs of a sulfur crested cockatoo. She also has an ear-splitting shriek that she employs quite often. 

Age: 20

Affiliation: Villain. Despite her external appearance, Kitori is far from an angel. She despises the fact she’s mistaken for an angel 24/7

Villain Name: Angel of Fukuoka. She didn’t pick this. She hates this name.

Other Tidbits: Thinks Hawks is a total dick, doesn’t like operating in the same area as him. Only hero she fully respects is Present Mic, both for his sheer volume and his crest-like hair.  

She follows typical cockatoo grooming social patterns, ie: wing touching and grooming is mate/family only. Is ABSOLUTELY scandalized when people reach for them. 

Has a unfortunate tendency to shriek when excited, bored, annoyed, etc. Her hair will also rise into a “crest”.

Chasing Ghosts chapter 17 Sneak Peek

The trio had been trotting along, Hawks’ feet planted firmly on the ground now as he walked in between his two interns. He tilted his head back, laughing, as he recounted a recent villain capture of his to the two teens, “And then he said, ‘I woulda gotten away with it if it weren’t for that meddlin’ chicken!’, I can’t make this shit up, he was a regular ol’ Scooby Doo villain if I’ve ever seen one.”

Suddenly his entire demeanor changed, which didn’t go unnoticed by the two teens on either side of him. His eyes narrowed behind his visor, shooting a hardened stare up towards the skyline as his bright, vermilion wings ruffled behind him. A flurry of feathers shot out from the wide expanse of his plumage, taking to the sky and chasing towards an unseen threat.

“Things are about to get interesting.” The blonde’s voice took on a more serious timbre, “Look sharp, you two.”
