Salutations, I'm Sydney (she/her) and this is just my little She-ra corner. I reblog anything I think looks nifty and am just here to vibe honestly. if you want to you can go check out my main blog @capttain-emo
adora isn't a dumb jock by any means, i like to think that she has a handful of brain cells but they need to recharge. so sometimes she can sometimes come up with amazingly detailed and specific plans and then other times she's like "brute strength????" and honestly?? me too
listen to me okay just
adora. is not a dumb jock.
i cant really explain why that trope annoys me so much. i guess it just seems so reductive to her character. like, yeah, she's goofy, but it's not really the same thing? there's no way she would get to the rank of force captain on just strength alone, and we've seen her tactics in Roll With It. I mean, she's an overthinker, accounting for every possible flaw to the point where she doesn't want to go in at all unless the plan is perfect.
there's a difference between being spacey or oblivious and being dumb, and i really wish people would stop ignoring all of adora's other traits because of that.
So I started to rewatch the show and I'm noticing things I didn't see the first time, of course. This one I think that is really important.
In this scene, Catra is being quite aggressive to Entrapta, she grabs her and scowls at her very intensely. Now, the first time I watched it I thought "well of course, it's Catra we're talking about". But I watched closer this time.
Catra knows one thing here: to stop people from doing something you don't want them to do, you must frighten them. And she learned that from mommy Shadow Weaver.
Also, she likes Entrapta. Entrapta is an outsider, like her. She's smart and she can help her to defeat the Rebellion, and she's been left behind by Adora, like her the Rebellion. Entrapta is one of the few people Catra likes to touch, she does that pretty often (the only other one is Adora, just saying). They're both smoll but deadly also.
Let's go back to that scene. Catra is violent and aggressive, and she tries to scare Entrapta off. One might think that it's because she doesn't want her to be Hordak's lab partner. And they'd be right. She doesn't want her around Hordak, not even for a second, because...
...that's what she's just experienced with him! He almost asphyxiated her (that's torture guys). He threatened her life, and all she wants is to protect her friend and make sure that he doesn't do it to her too.
Of course she does it the wrong way, but it's the only way she knows. And this leads me to another persone she mistreats all along...
It made me think. Catra is kind of mean to Scorpia, but she wants her around, as friend. In fact, Scorpia leaving was the last straw for her...
So I started thinking: what if she kept pushing her away to protect her? Let me explain.
Scorpia's feeling for Catra become obvious quite soon. And that's exactly when Catra starts snapping at her. I might be wrong, but I do believe that she pushed Scorpia away because she knew...
She always knew. And so she knew that she couldn't give Scorpia what she needed, she couldn't love her the way Scorpia loved her. So she protected her, the only way she knew.
That's only my opinion (I even wrote it in my fanfic), but Catra can be so empathetic and protective, we see it in season 5 of course, so, that's what crossed my mind.
Ok so I had this idea in my head that I just couldn't get rid of. She-ra X-men au (mainly based off of X-men Evolution because I watched that show when I was a kid and can still remember all of the arcs for some unknown reason)
Going through the responses on this post gives me so much joy you guys
So something that I've always wondered about. Why did the Horde have dresses and suits for Catra and Scorpia use for the princess prom? Is there just a section in the Horde for all the extra unifroms and then tucked away in the back a bunch of formal entire? Like they had enough for Scorpia to actually find one that she liked? And didn't just throw one at her to wear? And if they didn't just have those on hand then did someone have to make that for them? Because I'm sure they didn't go out to their local formal etire store and pick up that suit and those dresses. Is this just me???
Ok so @fatal-flaw-magnificently-cursed made a good point, that the section is probably there for espionage and disguises. This is what realistically makes the most sense, but it also raises a couple more questions. Scorpia is extremely tall and v e r y buff, so for her to find, at least two dresses that fit her well, even if one of them is rather ridiculous, makes you start to wonder how expansive it is. Then don’t even get me started on the dancing! Who taught Catra and Scorpia how to dance?? Shadow Weaver???? She is really the only other person who would have a reason to know that and I doubt the Horde taught dancing for fun. I have so many questions guys
