I love how all the fine arts hate each other until it comes to getting funding. Suddenly, everyone is best friends, we fight for each other and pull statistics from nowhere to defend all the arts and we all like each other for about a month. And then a trombone just blasts a note in the middle of the hall or a saxophone randomly pulls out their instrument and plays careless whisper and we all go back to normal.
At the beginning of summer our color guard and drum majors all go to camp together and last year there was only one guy between all of us. At the end of the week, we all got sashes like from a pageant with different titles on them, and the guard decided to give the guy the title ‘Mr. Cutie Patootie’ and a pink sparkly crown with a boa on it. He was not amused at all.
I'm currently just pushing assignments out of my brain cause, of course, I got really depressed over everything being closed, and our deadline for band assignments (most of which I have to read off of a score that I can't read) is *tomorrow*, but we got our marching show music, so I get to practice some of that!
My band director has been sending is videos on google classroom about what we should be working on and some of her personal stuff and tells us almost daily that age misses us, it's really sweet and I miss her :(
