Nikita probably doesn’t really agree with it because he has friends who are Ukrainian and he said when asked who he supporting at the euros(Russia was out at this point) he said Ukraine as a lot of his friends are there. He best friend or girlfriend ana(different to his sister) is Ukrainian as has spoken out about it already!

Okay but regarding mazepin, I am TOTALLY with you that he cannot stand against them, absolutely, he is under a significant danger if he does which it is understandable he is not prepared to risk (although the thousands of people in the streets of Russia protesting, being arrested for that and thus summarily executed in multiple cases according to reports, would argue it can be done if you’re brave enough to stand up for this, but that’s a personal choice), but there’s a difference between a careful neutral answer of I cannot discuss it/I am not in a position to discuss it, to what he’s said, what he said last night was a disastrously idiotic way to respond, also, his father has ties to put in, he has personally met putin on multiple occasions, he has also stated many views which give everyone reason to believe he could absolutely be okay with this shit, no a statement from him condemning this should not be demanded but demands for his removal from this sport ABSOLUTELY should go ahead, he should have been removed long before this for a multitude of reasons and in light of this he DEFINITELY a should go, and before you try to suggest I don’t understand what I’m talking about, I’m currently a degree level politics student who’s spent the past two days discussing the ins and outs of the Ukraine situation to the point my head hurts, I am fully aware of the situation he is in, I can assure you

1- Whether or not he should stay or go isn’t a point I even remotely referred to in my post because that’s a whole different (and curently not as important) discussion so I don’t know why you’re on about it rn but anyways

2- The people on the streets are beyond fucking brave there is ZERO doubt about that, but they’re also not related to people directly in bed with Putin so it’s still different.

3- I’m sorry but college studies aren’t relevant in the conversation

Bottom line is it’s easy to ask people to be brave and risk themselves and their families when those doing it are sitting cozily on their butts safe and sound at home. The fact that there are thousands of brave Russians out there protesting doesn’t mean he’s obligated to, whether or not he’s in more danger than them.

But anyone with more than 4 brain cells knows that if he says anything against what’s happening, with his father’s direct ties with Putin (he was literally in a meeting with him at the Kremlin yesterday), his entire family can very well end up on a hit list.
