but you’re not even seventeen yet. infinity is a foreign concept to you. you don’t care about being a god. you care about school, and your friends. you care about him. you care about beach trips and overly sweet soda and you care that he cares about you too.

here’s the thing they don’t tell you about gods: they don’t have a lot of choice. you learn a new meaning to the word curse: it’s something you carry. it can look rather beautiful from the outside. so here you are, barely seventeen and sometimes barely human at all.

you learn the meaning of irony too. here’s this boy, the strongest sorcerer to ever live. here’s this deity, there is no one he can’t kill. except that isn’t true, is it? you can’t kill him. not even when he looks you in the eye and dares you to.

because didn’t you know it yet? love makes for the most powerful curses. you are a god, but you’re also barely seventeen. you care about him, and you care that he cares about you too.

Last night I dreamed that I was being chased by a monster that was basically a giant red eyeball mounted on four long, black, spindly legs, except it was extremely large and extremely far away.

As in, several thousand meters tall, just looming up over the horizon like a mountain with conjunctivitis.

When I looked in its direction, it would slowly turn to make direct eye contact with me and (telepathically?) inform me, in a very polite and conciliatory tone, that there was no escape.

Also, the whole experience was inexplicably accompanied by what sounded like a techno remix of Russian opera, softly heard, but not like it was being played quietly – more like it was being played very loudly from a great distance. I think it might have been coming from the monster?

I think I'd like to talk to whoever is in charge of this sort of thing and request less starkly symbolic nightmares in the future.
